    1. My favorite Limited Edition was when KitKat came out with that orange-chocolate (*real* chocolate, not the orange-colored white chocolate coating ones they still make) bar.  It was right before the holidays a few years ago, and it was delicious!

    5. OMG my favorite limited edition were the Reese’s Big Cup with whole peanuts and with mixed whole nuts in them.  I was so sad when I couldn’t find them anymore!!!  They were the best candy invention ever, IMHO, and if they ever make them full time i will simply keel over with joy!

    7. My ideal limited edition candy would be Life-Sized Sour Patch Kids. Of course, it would be even better if they weren’t limited edition, but a regular product!

    12. Reese’s cups are my favorite candy, I enjoy finer chocolates such as Scharffen Berger and Valrhona but I really love Reese’s cups, they’re classic.  I just find the peanut butter and chocolate in those things to be perfect…so.. my favorite limited edition candy would have to be the pumpkin, Christmas tree, heart, easter egg, etc shapes of the reese’s cup.

Comment by James Berry on 10/25/07 at 11:02 am #
    13. My favorite would have to be the Kit Kat dark chocolate.  And not when it was in the miniature mix bag, the real normal sized version.  But anything with a dark chocolate version is delicious too!

Comment by Stephanie on 10/25/07 at 11:12 am #
    14. I’m with James. I really loved the dark chocolate mini Reese’s PB cups. But I also love the easter egg shaped version. It is hard for the Reese’s pb line to go wrong. I’ve pretty much liked everything… nix that. Not a fan of the white choco or inside outs. Otherwise, YAY Reese’s.

      And YAY Cybele!

    15. I absolutely adored the white chocolate Kit Kat.  for some reason, the filling between the wafers tasted more mocha-y, and less chocolate than the original.

    16. I really love the Retro Starburts - especially Optimus Lime!

    18. Carnival skittles… mmm! I’m a skittle freak and those were just more to love. (As a seasonal but slightly irrelevant aside, I REALLY miss halloween oreos. Sniff!)

Comment by Maggie on 10/25/07 at 11:51 am #
    19. My ideal limited edition candy would have to be Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and White Chocolate Candy corn (One candy with each of those being one of the 3 colors/flavors….instead of orange, yellow and white). I dont know how it would work, but I think it sounds like a fantastic idea!

Comment by Emily on 10/25/07 at 11:54 am #
    20. i loved the coffee kit-kats…there needs to be more chocolate coffee combos in the candy world

    29. My favorite Limited Edition candy would have to be White Chocolate Reese’s, right before Christmas, when they made them into miniature tree shapes.  The Seroogy’s Peanut Butter Crisp Bars were delicious, too, but they are only for sale maybe once or twice a year.  Also, an ideal Limited Edition candy would have to be a sort of like a Sky Bar (it’s hard to explain), having five or six little portions of chocolates or candies each with a different center-like one be peanut butter filled, one be caramel and marshmallow filled like a See Scotchmallow, etc.  They’d be connected in a row, so you could just break apart a piece like in a Sky Bar (but the real Sky Bar doesn’t taste very good.)  smile

    30. I still have a freezer full of Elvis Reese’s Cups.  I don’t see them around so often anymore, so I’m going easy on my stash so it’ll last me as long as possible.

    40. Favorite? That’s like trying to name one’s favorite offspring.  Hmm… since chocolate is my drug of choice, I’ll pick anything M&M.  OTOH, I have some many wonderful childhood memories of anything Starburst.  Have to comment on a major yuck, though—the Elvis Reese’s!  Horrible!  Since I purchased one on impulse at the pharmacy where, ironically, I had to buy my dad a new insulin test machine, I will forever associate the two.

    74. I think it’s probably more of a failed candy than it was a limited edition, but about six or seven years ago there was a Wonka (I think) candy Easter egg called “PB Mallows” that were chocolate eggs half filled with peanut butter and half filled with marshmallow creme. Ooooh, they were so good, but evidentally I was the only one who liked them, because they haven’t released them any Easter since…

I also am loooooving the limited edition Elvis peanut butter-banana cups from Reeses. Yum!

    96. I really love maple creams, but maple flavored stuff is so hard to find outside of a high-end confectionary. Bun is the only producer I know of that makes consumer-grade maple products, but even the maple Buns are really hard to find! Plus they have too sweet milk chocolate on them. So my ideal limited edition would be a dark chocolate maple-cream filled candy, and if it has to be covered with nuts (like a Bun), then the nuts should be cashews instead of peanuts. Pecans would be okay, too. But not almonds - they don’t agree with my digestion.

Comment by Tricia on 10/25/07 at 7:28 pm #

    108. I know it may be a bit silly, but the candy I miss was actually gum.  Back in ‘84 or ‘85 I think, there was a gum called Bubble Eez [sic] and no one I’ve talked to has ever heard of it, but it came in packs of six and the packaging was an awesome crate-type thing and it was the softest gum made especially for bubbles.  I miss it, even in this day and age of uber-gum saturation.

This might fall into the “really enjoyed them because I was a little kid but would hate them now” category (right next to Yoo-Hoo), but I always try to keep an eye out for Cookies n’ Cream Twix.  It had to have been at least 15 years ago when those actually existed, but I remember them being rather tasty.  Basically they were a regular Twix bar, but with a chocolate cookie, and an Oreo-like cream instead of the caramel.

    113. Here is the perfect candy bar:
I would combine the following ingredients from each of these already existing candy bars.

      Toblerone—-chocolate
      Turltes—-caramel
      Skor—- toffee
      Nestle Crunch—-crisp rice
      Twix—-Crisp cookie

Man, that would be soooo good.

    114. My favorite would probably by the Hershey’s Dark Chocolate miniatures (particularly the Krackel version) or the Hershey’s Cookies and Cream Nuggets.

    115. They seem to have become a regular item now, but for a while they were hard to find: Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. I think Anchovy, Pepper, and Grass are actually pretty tasty!

Bertie Bott’s Vomit actually tasted bad enough that I could hardly swallow it, which is a rarity in a world of candies that say “SO INTENSE CAN YOU TAKE IT?!?!?” and what they really mean is “contains lactic acid.”

    119. I LOVE the mint Twix’s released during Christmas time.  sooooo gooooood!  I also really like dark chocolate snickers which is fortunately “regular edition” not just special anymore.

Comment by Julie on 10/26/07 at 5:19 am #
    120. I don’t know if this counts as limited edition, or more of just a holiday thing, but I am addicted to Cadbury mini eggs! I like to roll them along the roof of my mouth to crack the shell, and then cleave the shell off with my teeth to get at the chocolate inside. I once went to the dentist around Easter, and she asked me why the roof of my mouth was so bruised! :-D

Comment by Jessie on 10/26/07 at 5:28 am #
    121. Hands down the reese’s egg and the reeses pumpkin.  When you take away the beveled chocolate border found on the regular reeses peanut butter cups, what is left is the best part!  Just a thin layer of chocolate, and all that peanut butter.  I wish they made these all year round.  And they are even better frozen!

    123. I see a lot of references to holiday candies, and although I adore all of the various Reese’s incarnations, as I’m getting older, I find I really love the Holiday Snickers figures, especially the Snickers Santa Clause figures - they’re just so much “beefier” than the regular candy bars, plus I swear they have more caramel in them!!!

Also, dealing in library land, I’m a huge fan of all the Harry Potter candy - it’s so hard to find them all in place and in stock! The icemice are fun!

Comment by Krista on 10/26/07 at 5:35 am #
    124. Hmmm, this is a toughy. Since a lot of people are mentioning holiday candy, I really like the holiday shaped peanut butter cups. I would never buy a regular Reese’s PB cup but I love the shapes. This year I found some ginormous pumpkin-shaped PB cups.

I mourn the fact that I never got to try the caramel M&Ms;.

    127. I think the only limited candy I’ve bought was the cherry cordial kisses. They were okay, but ideally I’d like something with dark chocolate and mint. There’s a fair trade organic chocolate bar that comes close, but it has crushed peppermints that I don’t care for.

    137. I don’t know what my favorite limited edition candy would be,
probably the mint M&Ms; they used to do a few years ago. (Not sure if they still do them now. :O)
      Those were yummy.

I think the Elvis Reese’s would be a favorite, because I love banana, but I havn’t seen them anywhere around here. (I’ve looked many places.)

I bet that the Banana Charleston chew was amazing, I wish they didn’t discontinue that.
And I wish I was able to try it before they did.

The perfect candy, I think, would probably be something you interact with. I remember about 8 years ago having these candy bars that were chocolate, and they had these little cups in them. It came with some fillings and stuff and you got to make your own candy bar.
You could either make every bite completely different (different separate fillings for each) or combine them to make whatever you want.
Interaction with the creation is always a plus, I think. Makes it more fun.

I think it would be interesting to see them make an M&M with some other flavor inside.
Aside chocolate, chocolate mint, blah blah.
Maybe some fruity flavors or something, or maybe a chocolate orange flavor.
I know that Skittles are kind of like fruity M&Ms;, but I don’t mean that.
I would still want the center to be like M&Ms;, soft, not chewy like Skittles, and not extremely sweet.
      Maybe flavored chocolate.
Or I wish they would put a gummy inside instead of a peanut. Mm.
Or fudge, or something. They can do so much with them,
      it would be great to see it expand I think. :}

They seem to be limiting themselves to chocolate and peanuts.
And the Crunch ones were my favorite, but I think they discontinued those now? If they did, doesn’t make sense to me.
Oh, and the Peanut Butter ones, that was a step in the right direction, they should do more like that.

      Yummy.

    145. As a child, my alltime favorite christmas present to get or give was a book of lifesavers.  I know that lifesavers have lost some popularity over the years and have trimmed their flavor options incredibly (very sad).  Still I think it would be awesome to have a special holiday lifesaver roll.  Optional flavors in the roll would be eggnog, rum ball, sugar cookie, gingerbread, old fashioned christmas candy ribbon, candied orange peel, toffee, and of course candycane flavors.  I would want that roll all year long!

As for those of you with other favorites hershey’s products (that includes Reese’s!), several of them are available at Hershey Chocolate World in Hershey, PA. The big cups with nuts and the elvis ones were there a few weeks ago when i stopped in (its 15 mins from me!).

I really miss the Hershey’s Cookies and Mint or Mint Chocolate Chip candy bar they had. Now I can only find the cookies and cream (even at Chocolate world!).

Also, I was wondering if you ever heard of something called Hersheyettes (not sure of the spelling) They’re sort of like the Canadaian Smarties but rounder in shape and the shell coating isn’t as thick.
