I think Hershey introduced these first for Halloween in miniatures. I shyed away from them then because I didn’t really want to buy 14 ounces of something I might detest. (Well, I suppose I could have given them to the kiddies.) I’m glad I restrained myself and waited for the full sized bar.

First, the bar looks weird. It’s a creepy orange, like a bad jell-o mold or maybe I’m associating it with hospitals (I can’t figure why). It smells like a cross between orange sherbet and aspergum. Very sweet and oddly artificially orange.

The taste isn’t bad. The white chocolate is infused with orange flavor which diffuses what is often a “too sweet” taste for white chocolate. The crisp of the cookie part is nice and balances well, good texture and crunch and it adds a bit of vanilla hit to the whole escapade. I’m pleased to see that Hershey is using real cocoa butter for their white chocolate instead of trans fats but it’s just not my style of a bar. I can see other folks liking it - it has a good texture and smoothness.

I have higher hopes for the mint bar (I hope to get to that next week) and if you’re really into orange and chocolate, go the extra mile to get a hold of the Candian/Euro Orange KitKat. You can see all the KitKats I’ve reviewed so far here.

  1. I also saw strawberries & cream and coffee flavored Kit Kats at 7-11. Coffee and mint don’t sound too bad.

  2. I picked a couple of these up when I was at Target (Oh, I miss Target).  I haven’t tried them, but thanks to your review, I don’t know if I will.

  3. Hi Cybele! I LOVE THIS BLOG!!!! I haven’t yet tried the Orange Kit Kats, however the Coffee ones are delish and the Mint looks pretty tempting.

I do have a few new candies to bring to the table:) Hershey’s has a few that I have tried…Reese’s PB Cups with Caramel, Kissables(candy coated Kisses…soooo good, I think possibly better than M&Ms;!) and Peanut Butter-Filled Kisses. Also, since you are a fan of chocolate and peanut butter, you might try Sweet Enticement’s Peanut Creme Bon-Bons…sooooooooo very good!

Well, keep up the good work and happy candy munching!!

  4. From your photo, they look kind of like they’re made out of bad peanut butter or cheese. Yeah, very appetizing. :\

I like orange-flavored stuff, including chocolate, and I like Kit Kats, but these don’t look very good.

  5. Hmmm…not sure about this one. I did try the mint Kit Kat, which was pretty tasty.

  7. The mint are mighty tasty. I found a ready supply at the grocer’s near my house. But these have thus far eluded me, which makes me want them all the more.

I’ve mentioned these before, but there’s a “Hokkaido Milk” variety they’ve been selling at Mitsuwa here in Los Angeles which is most definitely worth getting if you can.

    And coffee…blerg. Don’t like coffee.

  8. I finally found some of these today at the 7-11 at Barrington and Olympic (west LA). Meh. I won’t buy them again. I’m disappointed that after expending as much energy to find the little rascals as I did that they’re not better.

I like, no LOVE the orange/vanilla Dreamsicle bar flavour, and these have it, but it’s off somehow. Maybe I should freeze one and see if that helps.

Oh well. I still have plenty (too many) of the mint.

Of note: this location also had a fairly large stock of the Coffee flavoured Kit Kats.

  10. About a year or so ago, I came across a Blood Orange KitKat in Germany. It was around Halloween 2004, which I believe is what accounted for the “horrific” themed KitKat. It was actually quite tasty and was quite different from the Orange KitKat. The blood orange flavor was only used between the layers of wafer, and the KitKat itself was still all covered in chocolate. So it made a nice tasty blend of orangy flavor plus milk chocolate with crispy wafer.

  11. Aspergum!  That’s it…I kept wondering what the flavor was reminding me of.  I was associating it with something medicinal but couldn’t put my finger on it.

A response I’m certain they weren’t going for.

  12. While in England I picked up a few Twix bars they had flavors like pasion berry and rasberry. They where very good. I wished that I’d picked up more that I had. I can’t seem to find them in the USA.

  13. I gotta tell ya, I think these Orange Kit Kats are just delicious. I can’t get enough of them. Although they say “Limited Edition” on the wrapper, I hope they keep offering them for a long time!

  14. You guys are [removed by admin].  I order these off line they are so good.  If all you have to do in your life is to write blogs and over think the taste of an orange and creme kit-kat, then I feel bad for you.  This candy is great, dont overthink this one….[removed by admin].
