I Miss: Bar NoneThere once was a fantastic chocolate bar that surpassed KitKat in crispiness, that exuded such a creamy sweet experience that Hershey promptly mucked around with the formula and then discontinued the bar. I’m talking about the Bar None. It was a cocoa wafer, chocolate filling, peanuts and a milk chocolate coating and was introduced nationally in 1987. It was a wide bar, about the size of the current Whatchamacallit bar. The series of light chocolate wafers were filled with chocolate cream, covered with a light coating of crushed peanuts and then a coating of darker than normal milk chocolate. I was irritated at the time that Hershey had just mucked up the Whatchamacallit bar by adding lame caramel to it. I’m faithful to bars that are faithful to me. With Bar None I was immediately smitten. I would buy them at the convenience store just over the bridge from campus where I was going to college. I would buy them in vending machines, I would buy them in the six pack at the grocery store. I would buy them whenever I could. If there was a reason that they didn’t succeed, it couldn’t be attributed to my lack of evangelical devotion. Later in 1993 Hershey’s reformulated the bar and added caramel but also divided them into two bars (kind of like the Reese’s Sticks). While they were tasty, they weren’t the same and I lost interest in them entirely. I wasn’t alone and at some point they stopped making them in the United States. The retooled version is still made in Mexico. I’ve heard that they’re okay, and I’m actually curious to try the Mexican version, because maybe I was wrong about the new Bar None. But I’m not curious enough to take that drive south of the border in search of it. Instead, sometime in the late eighties I also discovered the Le Chocolatier cookies made by Pim’s. These are flavorless wafers with a chocolate cream and covered in real chocolate. What’s even better is they’re sold in boxes so while they weren’t wide and ample bars, there was an ample supply of them. If you were a fan of Bar None and have pined for it all these years, try the Le Chocolatier. Or take a trip to Mexico and let me know how those are. UPDATE 2/6/2009: Look what I found! This is exactly what I remember, it’s a magazine ad from 1988 or 1989. Also, check in here with this photos set I have of a fan newsletter I used to get called Chocolatetown USA! from 1990 that profiles that launch of the Bar None. UPDATE 2/18/2009: I think I found a pretty good replacement for the Bar None. It’s called the Q.Bel Crispy Wafer Bars. They come in Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate & Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter and have no artificial ingredients or hydrogenated oils. I love the dark chocolate version. They’re currently being sold at Whole Foods. Though they don’t have the crunchy peanuts in them, they do have some crisped rice in the chocolate enrobing! UPDATE 6/12/2013: The Bar None has returned, made by Iconic Candy Company, it’s a pretty good replica of the original. You can read the full review here. Related Candies |

Cadbury does (or did) make a product almost identical to Le Chocolatier, but I can’t seem to recall the name. Not sure if there was chocolate cream in the centre, though. I remember taking them as a recess snack in kindergarten. They came in a purple package, but give that purple is Cadbury’s official colour, that doesn’t help to narrow it down.
Ohhh how you’ve made me pine again. Bar None was my most favorite candy bar in alla world. I was so upset when they changed it. At the point when they discontinued making the, I could care less as the change already had turned me off. They were dead to me, so to speak. haha!
I’ve never seen these cookies you talk about - but they look like they have a white (vanilla?) cream between the wafers - or is that a lighting effect in the picture?
Regardless if you say they are close, then I’ll keep a look out for them. =)
Oh, I ate a lot of Bar Nones from the candy machine of my dorm. But, weren’t they enrobed in dark chocolate? Were they the ones that had the ad about taming the Chocolate Beastie?
M - I think I have a vague recollection of eating that a long time ago!
Lisa - the cream inside is chocolate, but the wafers are that bland vanilla (that’s the light color in the picture).
Marjorie - I’m not sure if they were dark chocolate or just darker milk chocolate. The wrappers I’ve seen just says “chocolate.”
My husband constantly talks about his longing for the Bar None. I’ll have to look around for and test the Le Chocolatier cookies on him to see if his pain is relieved at all.
Also, someone from New Zealand needs to send you some Pineapple Lumps! I had some sent to me recently in a swop and they were tasty.
I’m the aforementioned husband, and yes, I pine for the Bar None like no other bar ever made. I’ve tried to take solace in the Take Five but, delightful as it is, it can’t hold a birthday candle to the mythical Bar None. Though a fan of the Cadbury Dark, I have to say that I bristled with indignation when the Bar None’s coating was switched to dark chocolate.
I’m a firm believer in the axiom “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it”. This travesty is one of the many reasons why.
The Bar None (both versions) was covered in milk chocolate. And I too was disappointed when Hershey added the caramel as an “improvement.” With caramel, it became little more than a clone of Twix.
Wow! I have been whining for YEARS about how Hershey first ruined the Whatchamacallit bar by adding caramel (it was the greatest candy bar ever when it first came out). THEN, years later, I fall in love with the Bar None bar, only to have them ruin THAT with caramel as well. What is with Hershey’s devotion to caramel?
Well its good to know I’m not the only one still mourning the loss of these 2 caramel-less candy bars.
...just like Ford, the car maker. They have a great vehicle ( SHO ) and they stop making it. I would love a 2007, 8 9 10 Ford Taurus Sho! But my biggest thrill would be to be able to once again taste that ” to die for, ” BarNone candy bar!
I wish they’d bring the original, non-caramel version back. I loved that candy bar. I don’t think the version with caramel tasted like Twix though, Twix was different, and IMO better than the corrupted version of Bar None they put out. On a tangent, Cadbury’s Flakes are quite good, but they are different than Bar None.
You must try pineapple lumps. I can do a swap. Email me
I was disappointed when they stopped making the New Coke, the Lexus LS 400 and changed the Whatchamacallit. But, I darn near had to have therapy when they changed the Barnone. I used to buy those things like crack or something.
If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fixed it people!
Is there any kind of advocacy group for people who are trying to get the old Barnone back?
How about a petition?
http://www.petitiononline.com/BarNone/petition.html
OMG!!!look Barnone was my FAVORITE candy bar in the whole wide world! WHYYYYYYYYYYY did they stop making it!!!WHYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
I remember when they added carmel to it and changed it into two sticks in a wrapper…I could have killed them….but then just to add insult to injury they dis-continue it?????
Bring Barnone back!!!!
I’m just about tired of Hershey’s milk chocolate anyway. But the one way I would still eat the heck out of it is if they would reintroduce the BarNone. It was one scrumdiddilyumptious candy bar. I’d still be eating Hershey’s if they made it.
I finally found people who understand my pain!!! I have bugged my husband with this for the last 9 years (since we met). He had never heard of them (and he’s 9 years older than me!) neither have all the people I’ve asked. I thought I was nuts. I finally thought of checking online. I loved my Bar None!!! What were they thinking when they added caramel and then kicked it to the curb!!! They had the right idea in the beginning. HERSHEY’S you must bring it back !!!
I really loved this candy bar. The chocolate was the best even in comparing it to the finer ones like Godiva, I’d choose BarNone. But seeing how it has effected all of us maybe that’s why it was discontinued. It was so addictive. I eventually got hooked on Muddy Bears. They’re no Bar None, but a decent chocolate mixed with my favorite candy.
The Bar None candy bar I remember was yellow, unlike the Mexican blue version and it was just my most favourite candy bar ever. A while back it was reproduced in Asia but it didn’t taste the same as it did back in the 80s. I am one with the rest of the commenters here who would like to bring this candy bar back.
Bring BAR NONE back!!!
Barnone was one of my all time favs, and I really miss the whatchamacallit before the caramel.
The good old days.
Hello…I miss the Mars Bar…so I am campaigning to bring back the U.S. version of the Mars Bar (the semi-sweet bar with the little almond on top, sold in a beige wrapper)...if you are interested, please visit my website (http://www.mars-bars.com) and sign my guestbook! Thanks much! Jim
OMG!!! I JUST CAME BACK FROM A RETRO CANDY SHOPPE AND THE FIRST THING I ASKED FOR WAS THE “BARNONE”!!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD THEY DISCONTINUE IT??? Does anyone, by any chance, also remember a white chocolate candy bar with small pieces of almonds in it? I can’t remember the name of it and it’s driving me bonkers! ANYWAY, has anyone looked into the petition for Hershey’s? Or tried to contact Hershey’s?
I used to buy at least 6 of them a day. I was indeed a Bar None junkie. Evangelical was my love, for I would share the word, preach the gospel and eat the candy! It was a perfect candy bar. Just enough nuts to not piss you off, crunchy wafers that weren’t too crunchy, enough yummy creamy chocolatey goodness, that well, was perfection.
I remember hearing at the time, people describe it “like a chocolate twix” and perhaps Hershey’s decided that would be the route to take, except for one thing, we were eating Bar None’s, not Twix.
When they changed it, my heart broke. I don’t think I’ve ever really wanted a candy bar since then.
There never has, nor will there ever be a chocolate bar like the Bar None. The great mystery here is why the hell Hershey’s ever discontinued it. To answer #21’s question, I did contact Hershey’s, and they responded that “Yes, they discontinued it” (no shit), and that they “Had no plans to bring it back”. I would be willing to start a petition if need be. I am in Atlanta, but would be willing to make a pilgrimage to Hershey if that’s what it takes. Please make comment if you are also willing to sign a petition.
Wow… I too thought I was the only one who missed the caramel-free Bar None. It truly was perfection. I just tried the Nestle Crunch Crisp, which reminded me so much of the Bar None. Enough to satisfy the craving, but still not the same. It needs the peanuts instead of the crispy stuff.
Yeah I remember them from when I was a kid. Me and mom still talk about them to this day. I remember the Dark brown/black wrappers and the yellow wrappers with the blue letters on them. Not even the limited triple chocolate Kit-Kat bar could hold a candle to Bar-None. Take 5 was cool at first but I got burned out on them really fast. It’s as if they never really cared about the quality of the “waffle pretzels” they put in the bars so some of them could taste really um… odd. The Bar-None was also a good example of the old adage,“Less is more” not a lot going on with the ingredients but the taste and quality of the bars was perhaps too good for it’s own good. I will now see about going to Mexico some time in the near future as these would be a great gift for my mom and others who miss the Greatest Candy Bar of All Time ^_^
I tried a new candy bar earlier today that reminded me of something but I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was- it finally hit me tonight- it was the Bar None that it reminded me of! I loved that candy bar in the late 80’s!! Anyway, the candy bar I had today was the new Nestle Crunch Crisp bar- it is wafers, chocolate creme & a few Nestle Crunchies on top all wrapped in milk chocolate- may be worth a shot for those missing Bar None! Not the same- but similar…
I really miss a big 5 cent candy bar that I loved as a child in the late 1940’s. It was a stack of the thin wafers (vanilla) with white filling between each wafer. The bar was dipped in milk chocolate. From what I remember, it looked a lot like the one with the white in it of Le Chocolatier. Does anyone remember the name of it? It was So Good!
I am quite delighteed to see that I am not the only one fondly remembering Bar None. All that I can remember about it was that it could scratch the itch of a bonafide chocoholic like me. Perhaps Hersheys simply is not interested in the profit generated by this product. Maybe someone else would like to produce it? I think that commentator #21’s white chocolate candy bar is perhaps the Zero. It is the only whte chocolate bar I know of. I also miss a candy bar called “7-up” bar. It was great.
Wow, I can’t believe there are others out there who miss Bar None as much as I. This was the candy bar of my teen years, I use to love putting them in the fridge and eating them on a hot summer’s day or a late night snack. No candy bar has ever come close to satisfying me like Bar None did. I talk about them often and miss them like crazy.
Although in French Polynesia, we miss Bar None like crazy. When we went in USA for journey, we look always for this candy bar. We are desesperated to not find anymore.
Please, please, please, Barnone, please, come back again !!!!
(Sorry for my bad english, because I’m french !)
#21, I think you are thinking of Nestle’s Alpine White. Check out this video of the commercial…brings it all back to me. No one else remembers this candy bar. I am glad I am not going nuts!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2436282093537612107
Okay, I seriously cannot believe that #31 put the link to the Nestle’s Alpine White commercial on here…I must have been 7 or 8 when that commercial came out and to this day will every once in a while bust out singing that song…people never have a clue what the h I’m talking about. But I totally loved that commercial!!! And as for Bar None’s, in the late 80s I had a friend whose grandparents owned a candy store in Savannah and everytime they came to Knoxville to visit, they’d bring a box or two of Bar None’s. I was obsessed with that candy bar! I’m glad to know there are others out there that loved Bar None, too…but reading all those entries just made me want one really bad and now I’m very sad:(
Bar None was simply the best chocolate bar ever made.
I?m from Brazil and we had them here too, but they?ve been gone for years now.
I remember the brown wrapper version (the one I liked the most) and a yellow wrapper one.
It?s a shame how some companies discontinue their products and just don?t care.
I found a picture of the yellow wrapper version:
http://www.ivox.com.br/imagens/produtos/62307.jpg
Sigh…
I cant believe that everyone feels the same way I do about Bar None. I hated when they changed it. I was sitting here going over the retro candy bar site craving a Bar None like crack. Oh if they would just bring it back what a happy person I would be. Thanks for the memories.
OH what I wouldn’t give for one original Bar None candy bar. Hershey was stupid to mess with the recipe because duh if it ain’t broke don’t fix it morons!
Ah, good to see others missing this, my favorite chocolate bar of all time! I’ve often wondered why it was discontinued. What were they thinking? All these years later and I still miss that thing, still find myself talking about it and wishing it was available. It was best when it first came out, before all the tinkering. Yum. I think I’ll head over and drop a note to Hershey’s, add my voice to the clamor of those wanting this reintroduced.
I have found my support group! Bar None was my absolute favorite too and I have been missing it all these years still; and I agree the chocolate tasted better than fancier chocolate labels. And I also was sorely disappointed when they added the caramel! Even though I dislike any candy bar with peanuts, I still LOVED this candy bar!!
Hershey hear our clamour for more!!!
...and yes, this was the one where the commercials tamed the chocolate beastie, pretty good pitch if you ask me.
you should ba ashamed of yourselves how could you take away the most important candy out of the stores i love barnone and i hope that you would find it in your heart to bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hershey’s should really bring it back. Here’s the tv commercial…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg9xE7JDNWQ
Thanks for the tip on the Le Chocolatier. Harris Teeter (southeast grocery chain) carries them here and they are pretty good. They are the closest thing to the Bar None that I’ve had and 10 times better than the Nestle Crunch Crisp.
Enough talk! Let’s bring it back! Sign the petition.
That was my favorite candy bar of all time. i was just telling my boyfriend this not a month ago and we have been unsuccessful in finding one. my best friend and i use to eat these during our lunches when we were in the 4th grade. is there any way to get hershey to start making them again!!
I wrote Hershey about Bar None and here’s their response

Tom.
Thank you but been there, done that.
I’m worn out. Anyone want to write the Marketing Department ???
i have seen and sighned the petition.there was a incident where fans wanted a tv show back..so they sent the studion peanuts..they got so many pkgs of pnuts they put the show back on the air. maybe if anough people could pull something like that off plus with a petition.. maybe that would help them see the light!! tinkerk915?????
Hey Bar None Fans,
As of today there are two petitions listed in this I Miss Bar None group. The first has 1700 names and is mentioned in post #13 at http://www.petitiononline.com/BarNone/petition.html
The other has 17 names and is in post #46 at http://www.petitiononline.com/barnone/petition.html and it has 17 names. I think the bottom one should be deleted because it splits the same petition into two parts and weakens both.
I think a better movement would be to carefully research and identify some top Heresy’s brass in various departments who would get an email with all 1717+ names and the new signature EVERY TIME someone adds their name to the petition. A single email wont bring Bar None back .
It would be great if some Bar None fan would create a PERMANENT Bar None site where a unified partition could be assembled and the code is written to trigger emails to Hershey’s when a new person signs it. If Hershey’s responds, their responses could also be published on the site. I believe this would be a good and ongoing campaign to get Bar None back on the shelves and also allow for better exchange of info and excitement by us Bar None lovers.
Mike
U gotta try Toggi wafers, they’re way better than kit kats, my favorite wafer candy since the barnone.
also, little debbie makes a wafer candy similar to the barnone
I, too, LOVED the Bar None. I still look for it, thought I know I’m more likely to find el chupacabra. SIGH.
The closest thing I’ve found is actually marketed in the cookies aisle. They are called Flaky Flix and I think they are made by Mothers cookies. No peanuts, but they’ve got good chocolate and the right wafers. Extra good if you refrigerate them. YUM.
Wow, I totally didn’t expect to see so many that miss Bar-none!! It was a true *one of a kind* candy bar and I was bitterly disappointed when they added caramel to it. Why mess with such a good thing? Why didn’t they just make another version with caramel? It’s neither here nor there anyway since bar-nones are discontinued. Oh well, maybe I’ll try some of those other bars
This bar was the best ever! My husband ate two a day and was crabby if he didn’t get them. Our children ask about them because I still talk about his “addiction” There is a petition to bring it back! Have you signed it? You should post a link so everyone chttp://www.petitiononline.com/barnone/petition.htmlan sign.
Please, please bring Bar None back!!!
I’m SO THRILLED to have found a place where so many others miss Bar None as much as I do! I couldn’t get enough of those things, and always had a supply on hand. They were so good. Once the originals were done away with, though, I guess I lost interest because I don’t even really remember the revised version.
I’ve done the same thing others have mentioned, looking for Bar Nones in stores even when I KNOW they’re not going to be there. But even after all these years I still keep hoping.
“BarNone.”
Wow, the only really good candy bar. I’ve been needing a fix for 15 years now! What gives Hershey!? And not that garbage you tried to pass off with the caramel.
My hubby and I were talking to our two kids age 10 and 12 about our favorite bars today. My hubby’s is the Zero, but I said you can’s find it today, but I loved it soo much and then couldn’t remember the name because it had been sooo long. I asked my sister, who is a Hershey fanatic, and she said google it and here I am. I couldn’t believe there was a blog!!! and still active. Boy I sure would sign the petition and pass it to others. I MISS BAR NONE TOO! BRING IT BACK HERSHEY!!!
BRING IT BACK PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bar None was the perfect candy bar, right down
to the name! They were decadent pure bliss! I
loved them in high school & college! I would’ve
bought alot more of them in the past had I known.
Nice to know you all feel the same way!
BRING THEM BACK SOON!
please sign the bring back bar none petition on
http://www.petitiononline.com/BarNone
Wow, I’m happy to see I’m not the only one. I was absolutely HOOKED on the Bar None. I loved that candy like no other. I thought I bought so many of those things, I was personally supporting the manufacture. Weird as it seems, I still jones for that candy all these years later. Oh, and the second version was a cruel joke to someone like me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I absolutely loved Bar Nones and would keep a secret (and shortlived) stash of them under my dormroom bed way back in 1989. Strangely, no one else I meet remembers them.
Extra kudos to your comment about the sinful addition of caramel to whatchamacallits! No believes me when I tell them they were different.
OMG! I really thought I’d Google this candy bar and find nothing! I was a kid when these were out, and only ate them a few times, but I remember to this day how great they were. My mother and I loved them. Why do they discontinue so many great products? You’d think Hershey’s would be chomping at the bit to get these back on the market, what with people going out of their way e-mailing them about it. What morons are working for their marketing department? That is my question…
Man I was introduce to the “Bar None” as young child in the 90’s by my mom and man do I miss the way it taste. I think it was the best candy bar ever. I always talk about it and wonder if they would ever bring it back..
i’m so surprised! i’m not alone missing the best chocolate in the whole universe! i never knew it was discontinued in 1996. geez, i realized my ex boyfriend really had to find ways and give me a pack of it way back in 2002… those were the last moments i savored and dwelved the creaminess of that chocolate. yes, we should keep on bugging the bosses of hershey’s to bring this chocolate back! no belgian nor swiss nor twix could even come close to this perfect sweet fix! :D
urgh.. i really miss bar none. it’s the best! if i had known they will stop manufacturing my fav bar i should have bought a lot before. i hope hersheys will bring it back to the market. =(
The closest I can find to my favoritest chocolate bar in all the world is the Nestle’s CRUNCH CRISP bar. It’s basically a wide Kit Kat bar with rice crispies on the top.
A lame replacement to be sure, but an adequate one.
I was a huge fan of Bar None myself. I can almost taste it when I just think of it. I sure do wish they would bring them back the original candy itself. It would make so many people happy!
I’m so happy I’m not the only one who misses that candy bar! LOL You have to admit, it’s rather amazing a candy bar can make such an impression on ya. I’m 30 years old now and I haven’t had that candy bar since I was in the 5th grade but I can still smell and taste it exactly as it was… mmmmmmmm *slobber* gosh I wish I had one right now.
I can’t believe that comments are still flowing on this blog that was written in 2006! Bar None has definitely affected us all. 15 years ago, when I was about 11 years old, (apparently right before Bar None’s were to be discontinued), I remember we would go over to my Great Aunt’s house and she stocked her place with boxes of these delectable delights. My sister and I had never heard of or seen this chocolate bar in yellow wrapper, but we were hooked. We only had them when we were at her house, and we haven’t had one since, and I don’t think we’ve ever yearned for a chocolate bar like we have for the Bar None. We still say to each other, “Do you remember Bar None?” And we both would sigh with sweet remembrance…
I didn’t think there were so many people that enjoyed Bar None like myself. I was about 15 yrs old and a family friend worked for Hershey’s and we’d get a whole box from her. Mmmm, I couldn’t wait to get home from school to devour one! I was devastated when they changed them. :( We should start a petition to bring the “Original” Bar None back!! lol
I was just telling my sister how my favorite candy bar was the oh so fabby Bar None and low and behold, I found a blog about it. It was the most wonderful candy bar and I have missed it since the moment it left my life. Oh, I have searched the candy aisle high and low to find a replacement but nothing will do…perhaps we should picket Hershey for the second coming?
i miss it too.. is there any way we can petition Hershey’s Company to bring back Bar None into the candy shelves?
I have been in search of a candy bar that was like my old beloved Bar None, and today bought the Reese’s Crispy Crunchy (too sweet and an after taste). As I took a bite, I decided to Google Bar None to see what I could come up with - just by chance that there might be somewhere I could still find them. As I read this blog, I long for the Bar None. It was perfection.
I would love to get a great big package of Bar None candy Bars for Christmas. I have to always wondered why they did away with these. They were by far the absolute best candy bar ever. BEFORE THEY CHANGED THEM. Please bring them back…..
I just sent Hershey a letter on their feedback option. If you are reading this forum, it means you missed Bar None enough to actively search for it, so take a few seconds and drop them a line. I suggested that if full scale production is not an option, seasonal availability is better than nothing (like the McRib).
Let us band together and get Horton’s (Hershey) attention.
Bar None fans UNITE!
Wow,,, nice to see people who haven’t forgotten about the best candy ever produced in americA. i was so angry that they changed my beloved bar none I actually wrote a letter to hershey’s on my company letterhead to give it credibility. I never wrote to a company before or since,, thus was my devotion. I remember driving all over hoarding as many as I could find… i miss that candy and have great passion for it. The replacement bar none with caramel was embarrasing,, what a joke….i hold hope that hershey will have a limited run for people like us who relish our bar none memories,,,, God I miss that chocolate bar.,,,
I was in Cancun during 2001 and the hotel had the original Bar None candy bar in the brown wrapper for $1.50 US currency in the hotel Crown Paradise. I bought some with glee…just as I remembered them. I figured the US would have them when I returned from the trip…NOT. I signed one petition but cannot find the other. I will email Hersheys as well. I also miss the Summit candy bar from I think the mid 70’s early 80’s. Does anyone remember that one??? I really like the newer Kit Kat with caramel and the Cookies and Cream candy bar…I bet they discontinue those too! I wonder if they too difficult or expensive to make? I hope they make them with the quality ingredients they used to if they do bring them back!
Wow I didn’t know so many people felt the way I did about the Bar None…..I emailed and called Hersey several times and got the same respone as you all did. It sucks that they won’t bring it back and that it just stopped being produced. I hope they will eventually see that there are folks out there who would like it back on the market and re-produce it again. I’ve looked online and in the old school candy spots….no luck though!! I’m still soooo hurt about this!!
Here’s my method of getting to the closest goodness of the Bar None we remember…
I sandwich crunchy almond butter in between two dark chocolate wafers (I’ve only tried the Bahlsen brand, http://www.germandeli.com/bahafindarch.html). Pretty yummy!
I ABSOLUTELY love Bar None candy bars—I so wish they would bring them back. WOW its great seeing how many other people loved them also—-
Here’s the link to write Hershey’s. Tell ‘em to Bring Back BarNone. I already have.
https://www.hersheys.com/contactus/contact-form.asp
Mike
OMG!!! How I miss Bar None! I can’t Believe there are others missing it…someone bring it back!
I never realized until now why I have stood starving in front of candy sections at corner stores everywhere for the past fifteen or so years unable to choose and being pissed off about it. Barnone. Son of a b…
there is a petition to bring it back
http://www.petitiononline.com/barnone/petition.html
Tan - just so you know, comments #13, 46, 49 & 60 all link to the petition. It’s been around for years. I think you’re better off writing to Hershey’s personally to request the return of the bar. Or move on to the new Q.Bel bars I listed above.
I can’t believe I am not alone. I loved that candy bar so much. I can almost still taste it sometimes. After the Bar None was no longer available the elusive peanut butter twix became my favorite. And what happned to that one, they changed it and ruined it by making the cookie chocolate. It is a Twix people. It needs to have the original cookie. Who comes up with idea to change these candy bars? Make new ones, don’t change the old ones.
WOW. I swear I went on line for information on getting a bar none bar. I have not had one in what feels like forever, But I remember eating a bar none and drinking an Yoo Hoo. What a chocolate rush!!! YUM!!! Bring back bar none!! You might actually sell some!!!
Yes, I do remember Herseys “BarNone Bar” I do crave it every once in awhile. Wish they still make them. That was one of my favorite Chocolate Candy Bars in the 80’s. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
I sooo miss this candy bar!! It was the best.
Not sure any of this does any good but miss it so much thought I try. Please bring it back or sell the receipt to some one else.
Thank God I am not the only that enjoyed this candy bar. It was is the best candy bar ever made. I hope they bring it back!!
This was my favorite candy bar from the 80s and on. My best friend and I LOVED it. I remembered when they changed it but I thought the difference was no peanuts/peanuts not no caramel/caramel. lol I guess my memory is going.
Nevertheless, I remember both packaging though.lol
To #78 - YESSSSSSS I wondered if anyone else would compare the Bar None to the Summit bar of the 70’s. I have been telling my husband about the Summit bar since we met over 20 years ago…He “vaguely” rememebers it but now I have confirmation that there was such a thing and it was GOOD. Definitely my favorite chocolate bar as a kid…when the Bar None came out I was almost appeased but it still wasn’t as good as the Summit bar I remembered. I’d settle for a good Bar None right now tho…boo hoo.
What is it about a Bar None that I could eat 3 in one sitting? Love me a Reese’s PB cup but that doesn’t even compare to the creamy goodness that was once a Bar None.
I am very particular when it comes to candy bars I eat. The one candy I would eat is the none bar was on of candy bars I enjoyed to eat. The none bar was the one candy bar that was well balanced and rich in taste. I enjoyed the none bar without Carmel, putting Carmel into the candy bar destroyed the original good taste of the candy. The one thing possible may have been optional different types of chocolate. If the purpose of adding Carmel was to attractive more customer, the chocolate would have the one thing
I loved the bar none so much, I to was not happy when they added the caramel. It seems when ever you find a food you really love they get rid of it.
I wrote to the company before asking them about the Bar None candy bar. I miss it so much…..i’m glad i found other people who loved it as much as i did
I still talk about Bar None and no other candy bar has come close to satisfying me the way Bar None did. I still look for it knowing it won’t be there. I googled in hopes of being able to find it somewhere not knowing if it was discontinued or not. Oh how I long for it. I think about it all the time and I am glad to know I am not alone or crazy because no one knows what I am talking about! Has anyone tried the Mexico version? The wafers and perfect amount of peanuts were my favorite part….. Like an above poster said, the amount of nuts did’nt “piss you off” LMAO. Glad I found this because now I have some other options to try so I can attempt to satisfy the decade or so long craving.
I love BAR NONE.I remember buying BAR NONE when I lived in Eielson A.F.B. I used to go to the shoppette every other day, just for that candy bar. I was sooooo upset when they changed it. Then one day, it disappeared. BRING IT BACK!!!!!
Bring back the original and I will buy five cases, one for each member of my family!
i really wish they would bring back barnone.. i love chocolate and im fortunate to not get any pimples or bad skin from eating too much sweets. please bring back the greatest chocolate bar in the world… i live all the way back in the island of palau and we used to love eating barnone as an afterschool treat.. love it.
i am nearly in tears reading all the comments about bar none. i remember one year my mother actually bought me a CASE of them as one of my christmas presents. all of my friends have listened to me lament my loss for years now. and yes yes the whole caramel debacle made me crazy as well. the people who never had one (my husband, and many of my friends)can’t possibly understand what we’re all talking about. and while i have consoled myself with the european version of kit kats (NOT the american one) there is just nothing like bar none. how is it possible that something SO spectacular can be taken off the market?!
one more thing - i would recommend that anyone who loved bar none should try cadbury’s wispa…they too were taken of the market (!) but are back now.
OMG!!!! I can’t believe others remember the Bar None like I do. I used to buy them by the case at the supermarket. Then I saw they were being discontinued and I bought all I could find. Then they were gone. I have written to Hershey’s requesting they bring it back. It’s the only chocolate bar I really liked since I don’t like caramel or nougat.
what could we do to bring it back?????????????
Looks like everyone with a chocolate beastie inside loved this bar! Do you remember when they sent you a free t-shirt for a bunch of Bar None labels? I got STACKS of t-shirts I’d buy them by the case if they came back.
I was just telling someone about my favorite candy bar and here was this blog. Amazing. But I recall that they messed it up way before adding caramel. I think around 1990 they made it slightly smaller and slightly less tastey. Anyone remember that?
I have not cared for hershey much since the Bar None. That was the Best candy bar they ever made and they stop…What is up with that. I have craved it for so many years and I run across this sight hoping that maybe I can find it somewhere, but now I just want one even more :(
do a campaign to recover Barnone!!!
My name is Ron and I’m a Bar None addict. Oh, I’ve tried the 192 step program. I tried 192 different candy bars and none satisfied like the Bar None. I even checked into the Bar None Ford clinic, to no avail. I have been having withdrawal symptoms since 1993, when Bar None was viciously attacked and destroyed by Captain Caramel. Will my pain never end?
I’ve often thought about what it was that made the Bar None so addictive. Sure, it tasted spectacular. But I believe it’s what was missing that made it what it was. And that was the sickening sweetness of all the other candy bars. Bar None was, quite frankly, the perfect candy bar.
When I learned of the caramel attack, I went to every store I could find that sold Bar None, and bought out all their old stock. I managed to buy up 3,874 Bar Nones. That lasted me a couple of weeks, anyway.
I wonder if Hershey’s would sell the rights (and manufacturing know how) to Bar None? I think I’ll explore that possibility. With the right marketing, I think a fortune could be made selling them. An expensive, but almost fool proof, way to market them would be to give them away at checkout counters in supermarkets. For a limited time, of course. Every customer gets one. I have little doubt that every customer would become as addicted to them as I am. As we all are. Hmm…that’s the best idea I’ve had all day. Bar none. My second best idea is to buy stock in the company that makes Lipitor
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Best post on this subject so far! :D And I agree, it was what was missing that made it so good. C’mon Hershey’s, give your public what it wants. PLEASE!
This was the BEST candy bar in the world! I think about it often and wish it would be back on the store shelves. Bring back the Bar None!!!
Add me to the list of BAR NONE lovers…The one I loved and still think about to this day is the one in the dark brown package.
I’ve had this candy bar on my mind for a over a decade…it was THAT GOOD… I still think about it. Add me to the list..I would buy these again and again if they were produced (no caramel please)
LOVE THAT BAR NONE DARK CHOCOLATE IN THE DARK BROWN WRAPPER!!! Is someone listening? Please bring it back.
Theres no longer exist the “mexican” version of bar none, eventhough it wasnt good. I still havnt found an admissible replacement for the AMAZING BarNone. I desperately miss you BarNone, really!!! Please, please, please bring it back. When i saw this blog and the picture of the original package of BarNone i got a deep sigh, theres a lot of memories!!! yeah incredible but im not alone, thats something…but…BRING BARNONE BACK!!! Fierro compas!!!
Please bring back this most ultimate of chocolate bars. I fell in love with these back in high school and always used to buy it from the student store. The original in the dark wrapper was the BEST! Bring it back Hersheys! I signed the petition.
I’m from Italy, but I’ve been living some years in Mexico, where I deeply felt in love with the BarNone!!! Of course I’m referring to the classic one: dark milk chocolate coating, crispy wafer and peanuts…
I never understood why Hershey stopped the production, at that time I was so disappointed (and so were a lot of people I knew in Mexico), specially when I found out that the production was closed even in the USA.
In Europe we have a lot of delicious chocolate bars, but the BarNone was..wow…unbeatable!
I’ll keep in mind this page: if somebody in the world knows a single way to bring back the Bar None please tell us here!!!
I’ve read the “dramatic” post of Ron (the BarNone addicted guy) and I guess it will be easier (and quite less expensive) to corrupt some Hershey’s employee for revealing the magic formula, so you can do the BarNone by yourself at home! :D
By the way, speaking seriously: if somebody knows a similar bar here in Europe, suggestions are welcome!!!
I actually called the company after I had the new version with caramel and I complained. I was in college and it seemed important at the time, is all I can say in my defense. I was told that “marketing” had found the Bar None too dry and that they changed the candy for that reason. They mailed me a sheet of coupons for free candy by way of apology, since I hadn’t liked what they did to my then-favorite candy bar. I gave the coupons to some friends of mine.
I never bought another one—why bother when Twix tasted almost exactly the same??? (I’m not a big Twix fan, I’m afraid.) I was not surprised when it disappeared a few years later.
It’s so nice to see I’m not alone. The Whatchamacallit and the Bar None were the only two candy bars that I bought every day faithfully until they ruined them both with caramel. I have to admit that I secretly believed for the longest time that “someone was out to get me” by ruining and discontinuing my two favorite candy bars. I don’t believe that anymore (much), but it’s still shocking that the products I LOVE (I mean, the ones that I buy in bulk and eat in place of breakfast, lunch and dinner) could just disappear without warning or explanation. I feel a measure of peace knowing that I’m not alone (they can’t be persecuting all of us, can they?), and that other’s feel the same pain. Thanks for this blog!
It’s good to know I am not alone.
I have been talking to my husband about this out-of-this-world candy bar since we started dating more than 10 years ago and I still do. Every time I have a candybar craving, I could not satisfy it because I don’t have a BAR NONE that can do so.
How GREAT is Hershey’s marketing department huh? To even think of discontinuing a product that is so popular and selling so well is such a bad business move.
I miss the Bar None candy bar. It was so chocolaty. I was very disappointed when it was changed/discontinued. There has not been another candy bar before (or since) that was this good. I have e-mailed Hershey and signed the petition. The man upstairs told me they have an unlimited supply of the original Bar None candy bars…
Guyboyd, I know you’re lying! lol You’re lying, right?
Bar None was the BEST candy bar of all time! No one can hold a candle to it. I used to get it in the candy machines in the Pentagon. OMG how I miss that candy bar! I have written Hershey countless times asking about it and I often google it just to see if it’s back…Oh how I wish Hershey would get smart and bring back the original Bar None Candy Bar. I used to buy the snack size bags at Halloween and save them to eat other times of the year. Gosh i miss that candy bar!
I FORGOT about the Bar None! That was my absolutely favorite candy bar when I was a kid!
I am a great fan of English Kitkat, I used to order it in the mail from England. I never liked the American Kit Kat or any American chocolate until I have tried the original Bar none. I used to eat one right after i wake up, I used to buy them ten at a time. How happy I was finally I found an American candy bar that I love. How sad I was when they have changed the original recipe. We all need to write to Hershey and asked them to bring the original bar none back.
I used to love the bar none…was a great pick me up between classes. The perfect snack for that between breakfast and lunch craving.I used to wash it down with a Cherry Coke…mmmm. Recently I noticed a new Hershey’s bar at the checkout…Thingamajig “Made with chocolate, cocoa crisps and peanut butter. No where near the same as the original Bar None except for the shape…Maybe Hershey’s is in some way listening, maybe. Regardless they should just bring back the best and quit trying to make something similar.
love the Bar None myself. the original one that is. not a big fan of caramel. have to say one thing i didn’t like about the chocolate is the piece of cardboard it is packaged with as it had the tendency to get stuck to the chocolate bar itself. i’ll definitely try your other suggestions if i can find them here.
I once wrote them (Hershey’s) a couple of years ago about bringing back Bar None, the perfect candy bar and this is what they wrote back:
Thank you for contacting The Hershey Company. Your comments about BAR NONE candy bar are important.
We are sorry to disappoint you, but BAR NONE candy bar is currently not available. This product is not being produced for nationwide retail distribution at this time and we are unable to provide you with details as to when and where you might be able to obtain this product. We apologize for any inconvenience and assure you that your comments will be shared with our Marketing Department.
Your interest in our company is appreciated.
Meanies! LOL
I had a “Thingamajig” by Hershey last week… it was the closest thing to the Bar None I’ve had in 20 years, and it was AWESOME!!!
The ingredients list peanut butter, but it is very light… not at all like a Reese’s.
my m mommy misses this cany bar sooo much and im trying to help her order 1 her 1 for christmas and i really want heer to have it :(
This web page is AWESOME! Someone asked me what my favorite candy bar was and I totally had a flashback to BarNone! I wasn’t sure they were still making them so I googled it. The reason I didn’t know if they were still making them was because like the author said… THEY MUCKED UP THE FORMULA when they added carmel and RUINED IT and I stopped buying them! That is so funny, I agree with everything they said on here! LOL.
Ferrero Rocher is the closest I’ve found, but I REALLY want a bar none. I might try to make my own over the holidays.
I too miss BarNone. We should storm the Hershey empire!
I miss you BarNone, come back!
just got back from touristy cozumel, mexico. i was running around looking for the candy and of course, failed. Now i’m reading the postings of the already discontinuation of them down there and now am left saddened even more.
is it too crazy to set up protests outside of Hershey factory in PA?
will dope be legalized throughout the country before hershey finally brings them back onto the market?
keep reading, posting, and hoping for the best!
i from turkey and in turkey there is bar none
Bora, are you for real? Is it like the original BarNone or is it the same name but different candy bar? Details!?!?!
Bora, please post an image of the Barnone wraper in Turkey.
I researched this and I have no evidence of the BAR NONE candy bar currently sold in Turkey…sadly. Bora, please post a picture and give us the name of the store(s) that sell it. Thanks.
There is a petition to Hershey’s on the web to reinstate the original Bar none, please click on the link below and sign it.
http://www.petitiononline.com/barnone/petition.html
I already did a while ago. I’ll check it out and sign it if I cannot find my name. Thanks
Please stop posting the link to the petition. It’s been posted here at least six other times. Either people are reading the comments, or they’re not. Posting the same thing over and over again will not yield greater response.
As I’ve mentioned before, you’ll have a better chance of getting Hershey’s attention if you contact them directly.
The Turkish Bar None is unlikely to be the same bar, it is more likely to be a candy coincidentally of the same name.
Cybele, I did not read all 141 comments, I missed the posting part. Usually newcomers read the first few and the last few comments. Any way your point is taken, I’ll refrain from posting the link. Thank you
Bora, please do as others have asked and post a pic of the label of the Bar None sold in Turkey.
Cybele, I don’t think we can assume that every new person who comes here reads ALL the comments. I don’t see any harm at all in posting the petition link periodically so new readers see it.
I EMAILED HERSHEY COMPANY NUMEROUS TIMES Each YEAR.
please SIGNED ALL THE PETITIONS THAT IS AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR ALPINE WHITE AND BAR NONE CANDY BAR.
I hope they remember the original recipe. I’m tired of other chocolate bars. It is not as satisfying and no comparison to the Bar None.
please make a big comeback.
Thanks for all the bar none blogging. =)
As a child of the fifties Turkish Taffy was a favorite but my all time favorite was called Royal Flush it was almost identical to the Bar None that came along later. My daughter loved Bar None and still pines for the Bar None candy bar. She is 37, I’m 61 and my 72 yr. old sister loved Royal Flush just the same way I did. Why do companies try to improve something that it is already scrumptious and delicious. My theory was that back in the fifties and sixties when Royal Flush was so popular there wasn’t a lot of refrigerated trucks and air-conditioning in small stores so the delicious choc. bars often melted. Today there is just no excuse for not bringing back Royal Flush and Bar None.
I have enjoyed reading the comments here and finding that I am not alone in my feelings of loss.
I could never leave a store without buying a Bar none bar. I remember that I would find a quiet place to sit, with no interruptions, open the wrapper, smell the candy, take a bite and close my eyes. The gentle crunching, the burst of chocolate, the perfect blending of flavor, sweetness, and textures in my mouth… closing off all other senses and concentrating on every bite… because this was no ordinary candy. This was a piece of fine chocolate. This was a taste of candy heaven.
The original Bar None was absolutely the best chocolate candy bar ever, bar none.
I MISS BAR NONE!!!!!
I am sooooooo very sad and happy that I am not alone on this Bar None Quest….why, why does Hershey’s just not bring it back???
BAR NONE YOU WERE AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE BEST!!
Yes, Bar None the best ever.
Had a Kit Kat and some M & Ms the other day; they don’t taste right anymore. Forget Hershey’s.
you know, Bar None set all the world right. I am not talking of the “improvements” to the perfection that we all loved but the original. Think about this during the reign of that most dilectable of candies were there terrorists, global warming, a crumbling economy or even as much wide spread hatred as we now have in the world? The reason is at the end of a long day we knew that all could lose themselves in a bit of paradise found at the local store under the title of Bar None. My fellow country person we must either get them to once again bring it back or be condemned to a downward spiral and quite possibly culminate in another world war. we must stand with clentched chocolatly fists and through salivating lips cry out we want a Bar None!!!
John Todd, you so funny!
And I wholeheartedly agree!
I was a tween when Bar None came out. I still remember the commercials. The original Bar None was simply amazing!!!
I also remember the Whatchamacalit being caramel free. They didn’t just switch it at first either. They sold both bars for a while. The original and a “new with caramel” bar.
While I’ve always liked it (hated the caramel one at first), nothing was ever like the Bar None and I keep checking the internet with hopes that one of these days I’ll find that they brought it back.
After reading all these comments, it makes me want to try one!
I love the Bar None. I used to walk to the store a few blocks down the street just to get one after school when I was in Junior High. Would love to have one right now.. (or 10 or 20 lol)
The new CRUNCH bars that are ‘inspired’ by girl scout cookies…(the Thin Mint one) reminded me ALOT of BarNone…so much so that I looked up my old fav candy bar online and found this post.
20 years have gone and I still grave a Bar None. I will try some of the suggested replacements listed here. Thanks for this post.
Hershey, please bring it back as it first was. Maybe try selling it as a cookie. No one wants to pay for the single candy bars any more. Also, I hear kids using the word beast as a cool slang adjective these days. That may work for you.
I still crave a Bar None from time to time. I guess today is one of those days. I did call Hershey when they changed it, I was told they had recieved a lot of calls about it, but there were no plans to change/bring it back. I wish they would.
I really wish they would bring this winner back. No doubt the best candy bar, Bar None.
OMG!!! I MISS BAR NONE SO BAD… I REMEMBER BEING 6 YEARS OLD GOING TO THE CONER STORE LIKE EVERY DAY BUYING ONE ALL THE WAY UP TO I WAS ABOUT 12 YEARS OLD WHEN IT GOT DISCONTINUED =[ I’M 29 NOW AND WOULD LOVE TO TASTE IT ONCE AGAIN ,THE ORIGINAL VERSION WITH OUT CARMEL EWW!! THE BEST CANDY BAR EVERY MADE!!! IT’S CALL BAR NONE CAUSE THERE WILL NEVER BE “NONE” THAT WILL EVER TASTE AS GOOD AS IT DID. I JUST WISH HERSHEY WILL BRING BAR NONE THE ORIGINAL VERSION BACK A SECOND TIME AROUND FOR THE NEW GENERATION. I BET IT WILL MAKE ALOT OF SALES AND THEY WILL LOVE IT TO =]
Certain people are like that!. They put a perfectly good product on the market that everyone likes then all of the sudden pull it right off the market for meanness. And to beat it all, they won’t let no-one else make it either!. I think those people are pathetic. They just want to control and run all over us little people, I wouldn’t doubt they laugh at us in the process!!!
‘Banjo’ was launched by Mars in the UK in 1976 and was pretty much identical to the original incarnation of ‘Bar None’, however it was divided into two bars like the second incarnation. Hershey have a habit of copying other manufacturer’s ideas from other countries and launching them in the US.
“Bar None” was the best chocolate candy bar ever made! I used to buy them by the box and keep them locked in my desk at work in the late 1980s. THEY WERE SOOOOOO GOOD!!
Barnone is my childhood !bring it back
barnone is the best candy ever my life has never been the same since they left the united states.
Don’t know what the original Turkish poster was referencing but I recently picked up a Turkish candy bar made by “Solen” at a local middle eastern market called either “Crazy Extra” or “Extra Crazy” (!) that reminded me so much of the old Bar None that I googled it and found this thread. It comes in a purple wrapper with red lettering: “CRAZY” is prominent, and is smallish, only 150 calories in the single bar.
It is a chocolate wafer cookie topped with what taste like Cocoa Krispies and then milk chocolate-dipped. No peanuts, and a bit sweeter, but the overall effect is very evocative of a Bar None.
I used to work in the hospital and there was a doctor who was thoughtful enough to give us chocolate bars almost everyday! I happened to pick Barnone and was very delighted with the taste! I’ve been longing for it eversince.. I even made it as my avatar name in past tense.
Bar None was the single greatest candy bar of all time; bar none.
Bar None is still made in the USA….follow the link. I saw this site on Modern Marvels.
http://www.candywarehouse.com/products/barnone-chocolate-bars-18-piece-box/
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you @Rbiggs! I cannot believe I’m seeing Bar None available for purchase!
Please, everybody who misses Bar None, go to the link Rbiggs posted, http://www.candywarehouse.com/products/barnone-chocolate-bars-18-piece-box which says:
————————-
BarNone chocolate bars were a fan favorite in the 80s, but after Hershey’s changed the original recipe, the treat quickly lost most of its devotees. Eventually production of the candy ceased altogether in America. Still, for decades, fans longed for the original bar, and as support for its revival grew, zealous New York candy makers finally decided to do something about it. With that, BarNone was reborn!
Finally restored to its initial recipe, these unique bars are made of crispy wafers filled with delicious chocolate cream before being smothered with fine milk chocolate. Then, a cascade of crunchy crushed peanuts is poured onto the bar before it is enrobed a second time in milk chocolate (for good measure!). They’re “the best chocolate bar, Barnone!” And they’re finally back.
Unit Price = $1.50/bar.
Display box contains 18 BarNone Chocolate Bars.
Made in the USA.
Shipping Weight ~ 2 lbs.

We’re in the middle of a triple-digit heat wave here in SoCal, so I’m not going to order until it cools off. But if anyone does, please report back on how these compare to the original.
I would love to try Bar None as it is similar to a Banjo (thanks to Mattysd Comment 160 mentioning my much missed Banjo chocolate bar!)
Alas I live in the UK, but if anyone would like to do a chocolate swap please let me know!
I can be found on Twitter @Banjo_Chocolate & Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bring-Back-Banjo-chocolate-bar/269555819831128?ref=stream&hc_location=timeline

We are brothers from another mother my….......brother?.......anyways, yr the only one who remembers whatcadakine added caramel to the mix and effed up the bar….I stopped eating it after that…..anyways, to the point…..., bar none, bar none best easily accessible candy bar over the counter…...now unfortunately not over the counter…...OVER THA BOARDER….best scenario though as i’m in my mid 30s and don’t need this crizzap anyways…...sad to see go…..BN RIO
Oh thank you! I too have pined for this candy bar. It was my drug of choice in college. Will look for it again.
Im Mexican and i can tell you Bar None has not been in the market for about 15 years sadly :(
I used to love this chocolate when i was small i wonder why hershey’s discontinued it being a hot selling (i guess) product.
I emailed hershey’s Mexico to ask if there are plans for it to be released again :-D
I read somewhere on the net, that if they still have the rights and provisions they might probably arrange a special bulk order….. Money has its powers afterwards….
Is this candy bar ever going to come back? This was one of my MOST favorite candy ever
Omg, I feel your pain as well! Bar None and Mt. Dew was my breakfast my whole high school career! I have racked my brain trying to remember the name and thought, duh, Google it. Why oh WHY did they discontinue it? And then keep some of the crap they still have? I so wish they would bring it back!! Maybe we could petition?
Bar None was just like real Coke. America decided to get rid of everything good.
I’ve just returned from a mini vacation with my wife and daughter. One of the attractions we experienced was at Hershey’s chocolate factory. While they offer many new exhibits, including making your own chocolate bar and participating in taste testing, I was determined to inquire about Bar None.
While taking in the offered souvenirs at the gift shop, I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor. A young lady appeared and was nice but needed to “go behind the scenes” and speak with some veteran employees, many of whom have worked there for thirty to forty years. Upon returning, she couldn’t give me much information but I knew I had to pursue this on my own.
I eventually chatted a conversation with a loyal Hershey’s employee of thirty-six years or so and she recalled Bar None very well and reminisced about a time where the chocolate bar was amongst those made regularly. She told me Hershey’s won’t even listen to employee’s opinions but will listen wholeheartedly to us, the public, by us reaching out to them by comment on the phone or expression by email.
If Hershey’s chocolate company is bombarded by public demand to bring back Bar None, they would actually listen.
With all due respect to products like Zagnut and Zero, candy bars still being generated by Hershey’s with minimal sales, Bar None can generate revenue that far surpasses any of them combined. At the very least, they may bring Bar None back for a limited time and test the market’s reaction and sales.
Hershey’s toll free number is (800) 468-1714. They can be reached between 9am-4pm eastern time.
Go ahead and call! If we can’t create world peace, we can at least get a company to return one of our beloved treats back to the shelf.
The Ferrero Hanuta bar is the closest thing I have tasted to a BarNone candy bar since the original bar was discontinued. They have similar ingredients as the iconic BarNone. If you are craving one, I highly suggest trying these. I posted an Amazon link if anyone is interested.

I am 40. I loved Bar None. I really wish Hershey’s would bring the original back. Can you buy them at the Hershey’s factory in PA?
I am happy I found this page I have been dying for a Barnone please bring it back .I am so glad I am not the only one.
I never understand why the best chocolate candy bar
Was discontinued or put it out of market, Bar None it,s the
best of the best, and i believe still sale in Mexico
Why no given back to United States market again please, please, please eeeeeee
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the bar none as it was when it first came out…by far my favorite candy bar ever!
I was once addicted to BarNone and would even skip lunch in school just to save money for the chocolate bar. i so loved it till it was gone.
Is Iconic Candy fooling us? it’s been more than 5 years since they said they had the rights to reproduce the Bar None candy bar. I’ve visited the Facebook page and it seems that the project was left behind in 2014/15. I’ve sent them personal messages and received no straight answers. I guess it was all a hoax, not a funny one for sure.
Yes Erick it appears to have fallen by the wayside. Perhaps now we in the US can get behind the “Bring Back Banjo” campaign and give it a bit of traction and hopefully Mars can come to the rescue.
Glad to see others feel the same way that I do…..best candy bar EVER! bring it back…..the first version!
The. Best candy ever. Why would they ever stop producing this awesome candy bar. Please please bring them around
