Hershey’s Bliss Creme de Menthe Meltaway Center

Hershey's Bliss Mint MeltawayHershey’s introduced their Signatures line last year, which is an upscale set of offerings within the traditional Hershey’s fare that’s available at grocers, drug stores and discount retailers. (The Reese’s Clusters were the first item in this line that I found.)

Hershey’s Bliss is also part of this Signatures line. The initial launch of Bliss included milk chocolate, dark chocolate and a milk chocolate meltaway.

As the winter holidays approached, the Hershey’s Bliss Creme de Menthe Meltaway Center appeared on shelves. I first spotted them at Hershey’s Chocolate World back in October, but they smelled so overwhelmingly minty without even opening the bag, I was afraid that the airline would think I was a drug mule trying to cover the scent of something illegal from the famous contraband-sniffing-Beagles of LAX.

So I waited for them to show up locally and sure enough Target has them in stock (on sale, though I’d hardly call $3.50 for an 8.8 ounce bag of Hershey’s a great deal).

Last year Hershey’s released a limited edition Hershey’s Kiss in Mint Truffle (and they’re back this year).

The exterior packaging is pretty, it screams mint & casual indulgence. The interior foil wrappers are not so nice. I was not keen on the shift from the elegant bronzy tones on the outside to the screaming goldenrod text with the green foil.

Inside the pieces were a little soft, a little greasy looking. But beyond that ... they were quite dreamy.

The chocolate is smooth and creamy and the center is just slightly fudgier with nice mint flavor that had both peppermint and spearmint notes (the spearmint part was a refreshing change). It was also a little salty, just like the Mint Truffle Kisses, but the chocolate was silkier.

I really didn’t think I’d like these, but they’re a very successful little morsel. Everyone at the office seems to agree, as the bag is now empty and folks have asked if there are any left.

  1. This is off topic (though I love chocolate mint)—- but I saw coffee-covered almonds at starbucks today. I wanted to let you know in case you hadn’t seen them! There’s no chocolate involved—just sugar, coffee, and nut.

  2. we just finished a bag of these & a bag of the mint truffle kisses.  i much prefer the kisses, myself.  these seem to have a bit of white chocolate element to the mint (a la smooth & melty mints).  i like smooth & meltys, but for minty punch, the kisses have it for me.

  3. Oh my goodness. I bought a couple bags of these when they were on sale and I had coupons. They look divine and I LOVE chocolate mint. It is my very favorite. I haven’t opened them yet but everyone at the office loves the Hershey Bliss in any flavor so I’m sure they will go fast.

I love mint and would but I don’t know if I’d like them enough to buy a whole bag, especially at $3.50. I’ll stick with the peppermint patties which are on sale here for $2

  5. These mint Bliss are so superb, I like them better than Andes mints that have been our families favorites for over 50 years! Now, mint Bliss is our favorite. SO disappointed they were just a holiday flavor. I made a request at Hershey that they make these year round, or at least at major holidays! If anyone else loves these like we do, please write Hershey a comment email at their site b/c the more that write in, the stronger they will consider supplying these year round so we won’t have to wait a year for them! Bliss mint lover in NC! smile

  7. i absolutely LOVED these chocolates, and i am not a fan of mint chocolates per se. i was already into the bliss meltaways and at when i went to ralphs, they were up front for just a $1, which is why i bought them. i was pleasantly surprised with the silkiness and softer mint flavor and i’m coming back for more… hopefully they’re still cheap!

  9. I’m not a big candy eater but I love Hershey’s Bliss Creme De Menthe.  HEB no longer sells them.  The other bliss are too sweet.  Where can I buy them?
