Hershey Offers Free TeesI just found out that Hershey has a cool free offer. For 15 wrappers you can get one of six retro designed logo tees. More info here. There’s a $2 shipping and handling charge, but totally worth it if you dig these candies and logos. If you love the shirt and just don’t want to eat that much candy (what’s wrong with you?), you can order them for $16.95 each. Unfortunately I can’t get part of their freakishly elaborate flash site to load the terms & conditions, but I’ll post more as I find it. UPDATE: I caved and went to their site using IE and found this page which should tell you most everything you want to know. Except what I want to know, which is whether or not the Twosomes count. But Meme, you’ll be happy to hear that for all five it’s only 55 wrappers! Thursday, August 4, 2005
Poopy CandyName: Crazy Daisy - The Super Duper Crazy Pooper I was going to save this review until the holidays were upon us and you were begging me for gift suggestions. But BoingBoing posted about it earlier this week, so I figured it was topical. I got this cutesy little sample from Chris at the Candy Warehouse. He gave me my pick of the variations on the theme, there are pooping pigs, pooping cows, pooping bulls and the fun new one is the wind up penguin that leaves little gifts all over the table. Of course, those who’ve known me for more than 30 years know that I have a special fondness for sheep (cuz they’re stupid).
The toy is basically a candy delivery device. You fill up her body cavity through her head (which is hinged) with jelly beans, then when you need a treat you push down on her backside and her tail flips up to expose a hole that delivers two or three. The jelly beans are actually pretty good - cola and I think dulce de leche or something like that because we all like two-tone poop for authenticity. Would I buy this? Not for myself. But I’d probably be tickled if someone else bought it for me. And gave me an additional bag of poop. Pretty much anything jelly belly sized will work in there. I figure chocolate covered raisins, goobers, M&Ms, maybe even Altoids. I can also think of a few people I might buy this for. Candy PartyLast night I had a few friends over to share the adventure of trying new candy. Now, I may have made a mistake in picking obscure candies without some sure things in there. I picked up a large variety, including some Mexican lollies (they sure seem to like the combination of mango and chile), some Russian something-or-others, and a variety of stuff I found at the 99 cent store. I can’t say that I was overwhelmed by anything. The one thing I can say is that an evening of candy is not really a good idea. I think I need to stress moderation here. Too much candy, well, can give you a headache. I’ll have more reviews later. Saturday, April 9, 2005
Adventures in CandyLet’s face it, there are a lot of sweets out there. There are the classic favorites that we remember from our childhood and then there is the global marketplace. I live in one of those international cities where I come into contact with candy from all over the world. Generally I’ve stuck to my own favorites, but now I’m going to share my experiences with the world. I’ll try to have at least a photo of everything I document here and the basics on price and size. My taste is not the same as everyone else, so I’ll try to be objective. Keep watching and I’ll try to have fun new stuff up as often as possible. |
Meticulously photographed and documented reviews of candy from around the world. And the occasional other sweet adventures. Open your mouth, expand your mind.
