Following up on the Munch Bar post a few weeks ago, this is the competing product: Planters Peanut Bar Original.
As pointed out in the comments on the Munch Bar review, the Planters bar isn’t as toffee-like. In fact, there are no dairy products at all in this bar.
It’s a heavily peanut bar, as you can see. The peanuts are jam packed together with the hard candy part just there to keep it all in one cohesive unit. The peanuts are toasty tasting and fresh with a nice salty hit from the candy.
It’s pretty satisfying even though it’s only 1.6 ounces. It also keeps well in harsh conditions, like warm summers or maybe in the car. It does just fine if it gets broken.
Of the two that I’ve had now (Planters Peanut Bar and Munch Bar), I think I prefer the Munch because of the more toffee-like candy cement. But I wouldn’t turn this one down. Both are a little hard to find. Drug stores seem to have a good selection, but I didn’t see this or the Munch bar at my usual 7-11s.

What’s the cohesive candy taste like? It looks a bit like peanut brittle.
The peanut brittle I make has a teeny tiny bit of butter in it (like 1 or 2 Tablespoons - for 1 cup peanuts, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup corn syrup, 1 tsp each of vanilla and baking soda, pinch of salt).
Anyway, on Monday afternoon we stopped at a pistachio store outside Alamogordo, New Mexico. They have samples of all their nuts and candies. I overheard someone ask the difference between their “pistachio crunch” and “pistachio brittle”. The answer was that crunch had more butter than brittle does. The crunch was very tasty, so I bought a bar of the crunch to take on my flight. Here’s their web site:
http://www.eagleranchpistachios.com/
but the crunch bar I bought is not available in their online store.
I CAN’T FIND A STORE THAT SELL’S THE BAR
cant find a store here in erie that sells the bars any suggestions on where to find them besides on line
Planters Peanut Bar can be found at your local CVS Store. I know because, it’s the only store that I have found that sells them. It would be nice if we could buy the peanut bar brittle by the can!!! Hope this helps and happy crunching!
I discovered Rite Aid pharmacies carry the original Planters Peanut bar. It’s one of my lifetime favorites from childhood (I’m 73 yr. old kid now’ so it’s a long love affair!) I found them in N. Carolina (might have been CVS store there) on vac. and then again when I returned to the PAC NW. I get them at Rite Aid stores….often at the register, sometimes in the candy aisle. Happy hunting!
THIS IS MY FAVORITE CANDY BAR BECAUSE IT DOES NOT CONTAIN CHOCOLATE BUT IT’S LIKE LOOKING IN A HAY STACK TRYING TO FIND THEM?????????????? SEEMS MOST OF THE STORES IN MY AREA DO NOT CARRY THEM - WHY?
FOR A WHILE I THOUGHT PERHAPS THIS PRODUCT WAS NO LONGER BEING SOLD OR EVEN MADE. H-E-L-P.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND EASY ACCESS TO THEM
THANK YOU
I finally found 15 bars of candy at five below in Austin, TX. I went to 3 other five below stores in this area looking for my wife’s favorite candy bar. She’s going to be ecstatic when she has her afternoon tea.
All of a sudden it seems that no stores near me are carrying this candy bar any more! Does any one know why? It is my all time favorite. I found a post on the web that rated it a “3”, on a scale of one to five. I don’t believe it. There must be something going on… a conspiracy to get an old, delicious, good quality competitor off the shelves!
where can I get this candy bar.
have been trying to find this for years now
I Have been looking for this bar and can’t find it.

Try going into a store (here in USA,Pic ‘n’ Save, aka Big! Lots), or Walgreen..there are many penny candy stores and like that….normally you don’t see a Planters candy product….
