Eat with your Eyes: Honeycomb Peanut

Honeycombed Peanut

Unlike Circus Peanuts, Honeycomb Peanuts are more like you’d expect based on their size, shape and color. They look like peanuts, are about the same size as a small pair of peanuts in teh shell and actually taste like peanutty candy. They’re a light orange colored hard candy filled with a crunchy peanut butter center (kind of like the middle of a Butterfinger Bar).

I usually pick them up in bulk bins. They’re also considered a vegan candy.

  1. Wow, I’ve never seen these before.  Where do you find them in LA?  Do you know who makes them?

  2. Oh man, I love these things, but they’ve gotten so hard to find. Portland’s bulk candy bins must be a sad second cousin to those in LA.

  3. I love these things…and I’d forgotten about them!  I have no idea where to find them in GA, either.  And the economy has gotten so bad around here, I heard today that we’re losing our Goodwill Store!  Now THAT’S bad!  So I guess no one will be opening a candy store here anytime soon!

Jay & Liz - I have trouble finding them in Los Angeles, I picked up a handful of them in Indiana over the summer. It was tough not eating them until I got home so I could take photos.

They’re made by Atkinson Candy - the folks who also make Chick-O-Sticks.

  5. Cybele,

I’d seen Circus Peanuts in their catalog, but always assumed they were the traditional kind.  Their Peanut Butter Bars are excellent, so I can imagine how good these are.

Thanks for the heads up.  I’ll put it in my mental file for future reference smile

Jay - they’re not Circus Peanuts (I’ve never tried their version), they’re called Honeycombed Peanuts.
