Eat with your Eyes: Hiding Eggs

Easter Candy season is upon us. I’ve spent the past week or so visiting all the drug stores and discounters to see what’s new. (Photos here.)

Atkinson Sugar Singularities

Hiding Eggs are those huge marshmallow candies like jelly beans but with a fluffed and grainy center. I don’t like eating them, but they’re definitely pretty.

  2. Hiding eggs are one of my favorite easter candies. and I can’t find them anywhere this year. Anybody know of a store in PA that carries them?

  3. They sell those here at Walgreens. They should sell them there if they have walgreens up there.

  4. I have always loved this candy. After searching many stores, I found some today at CVS and bought 4 bags. They always seem to be on the bottom shelf…

  5. I struck out completely this year in Charleston, SC on finding these, and I tried dozens of grocery stores and drug stores.

  6. These are becoming impossible to get and I’m really wondering why. The only ones I can find now are from Brach’s, labeled as “Easter Hunt Eggs”. They are much smaller, and only one local store carried them this year. I found them at Big Lots, for $2.40 per 7 oz bag. A quick online search finds them being sold in the same 7 oz bag on Amazon for… $9 a bag. These are smaller and less flavorful than their predecessors, which I don’t believe were sold by Brach’s. Does anyone know what happened? These used to be sold everywhere… I’m almost wondering if there was some patent backlash or something.
