After Christmas Candy Sales (2008)

After Christmas Candy SalesI’ve been to my local drug stores and picked up some fantastic deals. Most of the places were still at 50% over the weekend, but they had a lot of non-holiday candy included.

I think my best score was in the baking aisle at Von’s where they had Smooth & Melty mint chips on sale for $1.24 for 12 ounces. (I also bought two bags of the regular Guittard Chips which were also 66% off, you know, just cuz.)

imageI have to call ludicrous hooey on this product on the Williams-Sonoma site: Handmade Peppermint Snow (6 ounces). Guess what it is? Yes, you are correct, it’s crushed red and white peppermints. Handmade peppermints. All in this lovely jar and marked down from $10 to $6.99 ... what a deal!

Crate & Barrel has Mini Mighty Marshmallows (4.5 ounces) marked down from $6.95 to $1.75.

Dean and Deluca has one fabulous deal to report, these Karmamel Kickbacks (21 ounces) marked down from $48 to $12. They sound really good, “includes chocolate, chocolate nut, kahlua, mint, nougat caramel and pecan nougat center. Individually wrapped in a gift box and adorned with red ribbon.

Godiva is offering up to 50% off in their post-holiday Chocolate Covered Sale.

Artisan Sweets has a deal on French Candied Chestnuts marked down from $50 to $25.

Lake Champlain has had a few interesting items cycle in and out of their sale bin. Check out the current list here.

Chocosphere always has chocolate on sale in their bargain basement. Right now they have some Domori bars for half off. Always something good to take a chance on in there.

Have you found anything ridiculously cheap lately?

  1. Ghirardelli’s holiday stuff is all half off in their stores.

  2. I got some Lindt Holiday Spice dark chocolate bars on clearance at Target for $1.00. I bought all they had—these are super good chopped up and added to pumpkin bread or cookies!

  3. I’m hoping to get one of the ferrero rocher fruit mixes. They looked interesting as I did my holiday shopping but i’d be more willing to try them at half price.

  4. When Target put their candy on 90% off I picked up a whole stack of Lindt Holidy Spice as well as the Frey Gingerbread, Cinnamon and Coriander, and Winter Fruit and Nut. Can’t beat 19 cents a piece for those! smile

  6. Am I the only one who has had a more difficult
time lately finding the “good stuff” on sale
after the major holidays? I swear, if you hit up WalMart/Target/grocery stores the very next day
after a major holiday the good candy is completely wiped out! I think the above stores have cut back on buying so when “sale” time comes most everything is gone. When I say “good”
I’m referring to primarily the name brand candy
    items-Hershey/M&M Mars/most chocolate items.
Specifically my favorite candies of the holidays:
Reese’s Peanut Butter novelty items! Hearts/eggs/
pumpkins/trees. Just TRY finding these in a busy
area/store the day after the holidays! Fughet it!

  7. I found miniature Snickers, M&Ms;, and Milky Way bars in little ornament packages for only 10 cents a piece.  I also found all kinds of marshmallow candy and candy canes (even good flavors like Spree, Jelly Belly, Lifesavers, and the new Wonka chocolate ones) for a nickel a package!  CVS also had fudge for a quarter and marshmallow Santas (it’s just not Christmas without them) for 17 cents each.

  8. I was at our local Wal-Mart picking up some candles and other supplies for a table a friend and I are decorating at our towns Chamber of Commerce banquet.  I picked up some of the Wilton’s Candy Melts to make some candies to go along with our fall wedding theme.  I couldn’t believe that they were only 10 cents a bag!!  Needless to say I went back and bought all of what they had.  They will keep nicely in the freezer for use on another project.

  9. I found the Cocoa Deli mini ice shaped chocolates I had been wanting to try, along with the rocky road, which I did not buy. They weren’t too bad, and the quality was good. But you do take a risk of buying things the day after a major holiday in terms of selection.
