Where Have I Been?

I’m heading back from New York City to Los Angeles this evening but I thought I’d just give you a tantalizing list of all the places I’ve been this week:

Economy Candy - cheap candy, great selection, packed to the rafters
Russ & Daughters - awesome halvah and dried fruits
Kee’s Chocolates - Creme Brulee chocolate was awesome!
Maison du Chocolat - I drank an $8 cup of hot chocolate!
Pierre Marcolini - beautiful truffles and chocolates, freakishly expensive, tasty hot chocolate in pretty china cups
Dylan’s Candy Bar - all the selection of Economy Candy but at uptown prices
Marie Belle - mmm, another cup of hot chocolate and then they gave me a passion fruit truffle and it was divine
Vosges - white chocolate hot chocolate (with lavender & lemon)! hoo boy yeah! (and amazing little tasting pieces of their aztec and gunaduja)
Jacques Torres - awesome hot chocolate in absurdly huge portions, go during the day when the “factory” is working to see all the wonderous sites
Babycakes - yeah, I went to a bakery and ate a “sugar-free, wheat-free, dairy-free & egg-free” chocolate cupcake and it was goooood

I’ll have more later (I’ve made lots of purchases but haven’t eaten anything yet). Thanks to everyone who made suggestions - every piece of advice was awesome.

  1. I was in Hong Kong about 5 years ago.  I had tried these wonderful hard candies that were cola flavored.  They did not have any bubble gum.  They were not “chewie” or “gummie”  They were a regular hard candy and came in a paper/foil wrapped square tube, almost like a package of Halls cough drops.  They came in regular cola and lemon cola flavors.  They were wonderful.  I have been trying to find them on line but have only found candy like hi-chew and it is not the same.  Please let me know if anybody knows about these candies and where I can find them.  Thanks.

Kim - I think I found something similar. I’ll try to post about them in the next few weeks. I went to Aji Ichiban and they had lots and lots of individually wrapped candies, and one of them was a little hard candy made in (I think) Malaysia and it’s in a little red wrapper and says it’s cola flavored. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll put it at the top of the list.
