The most recent poll was about favorite Christmas candy classics.
I was suprised at how well Toblerone bars performed but of course nothing pleases me more to see that traditional homemade items are still by the far the biggest winner.
For those who picked homemade, what are these items?
(I voted for hard candies because Christmas has traditionally been the only time I could get a hold of barley sugar candies.)
I would say my favorite is the buckey balls we make. Peaunut butter balls dipped in chocolate, looks just like a buckeye
My mom makes a great english toffee with chocolate and pecans. It’s SO much like a home made Heath bar!
I also like the fudge recipe she gave me. It makes flawless fudge (and I have a recipe out on the web - http://www.civilgrrl.com/recipes.html).
I don’t remember voting, but my favorite Christmas candy classics would be penuche (a brown sugar ‘fudge’), toffee, peanut brittle, and maybe fudge. I don’t actually like the fudge much myself (or maybe it’s just that I like everything else better), but I consider it a family Christmas classic!
My favorite Christmas candy would be Toffifee, as my Grandma used to buy us a box and give it to us every Christmas Eve. I loved them, and would eat them for breakfast Christmas morning. My other Christmas candy would be the light colored fudge, made in Poland, and has a cow on the front wrapper.
