  1. *Sigh* How can I choose just three?? I sure hope my other favorites don’t get offended.

    1) Reeses Peanut Butter Cups (Original & White)
    2) Take 5
    3) Chew-ets Peanut Chews

I’m most looking forward to the Reeses Whipped because if you couldn’t tell by my top 3, I love the combination of chocolate and peanut!

  2. Favorite candies:
    1. chocolate/orange combos: Ghirardelli “Citrus Sunset” currently has the lead.
    2. chocolate/mint combos: Junior Mints, all time fav in this category
    3. english toffee: homemade, fancy brands, skor, heath, etc.

Looking forward to: the lemonade stand mix and chewy lemonheads. That licorice caramel you mentioned sounds intriguing - is it licorice or caramel tasting? The pralines - yum!

  3. Thinking of a top three is so hard! But here goes:

    1) Original Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
    2) Mars Bars
    3) Strawberry Creamsicle Ropes (This isn’t the actual name, but it’s basically a light strawberry licorice twisted or enveloping a creamy marshmallowy centre. Yum Yum!)

I think the things I look forward to most are Reeses Whipps because I love nougat & add that to my number 1, pretty exciting. The pop rocks chocolate bars sound really interesting too. & the matcha chocolate too. Green tea is delish!

  4. 1. Whatchamacalit- the crispyness is yummy!

    2. Chunky- have to love raisins and nuts

    3. Sixlets- Hard to find nowadays, but the fun tubes are great!

I can’t wait to try the Candy Corn Hershy kisses- I haven’t seen them here in N. California yet.

Comment by Tori on 9/23/07 at 4:25 pm #
  5. 1. Peanut M&Ms;
    2. Margarita Jelly Bellies
    3. Reese’s PB Cups

Felt like sticking with the good old standards on this list.

I personally wish I had those toffee chocolate almonds in front of me right now!

Comment by Darcy on 9/23/07 at 4:26 pm #
  6. 1. Almond Joy
    2. Reese’s peanut butter cups
    3. Strawberry Twizzlers

I love coconut and peanut butter and chocolate so I’m waiting for a candy maker to put all three of those together!

Comment by Restaurant Mom on 9/23/07 at 4:53 pm #
  7. Mm… Forever Yours bars, Milk bottle hard candies that I had in Canada as a kid but never found again, and Marshmallow peeps.

Comment by Sharon on 9/23/07 at 4:58 pm #
  8. My faves:
Godiva truffles, peanut M&M’s, and Icebox which was a little individual chocolate wrapped in foil that I used to get at the corner store about 25 or 30 years ago.

Did someone say they are coming out with mint M&M’s? I will have to try those.

Comment by Kate on 9/23/07 at 5:04 pm #
  9. Faves?  That’s rough.  I like the wacky and limited stuff, but if we’re talking desert-island here, I’ll want some M&Ms;, Skittles, and probably Starburst.

I was happy to locate the Carnival Skittles before they disappeared.  Right now I’m looking for the assorted Three Musketeers minis that you reviewed.

Comment by John on 9/23/07 at 5:13 pm #
  10. OK!...  New to the site - Love it!

    Top Three:
    1.  Reese’s Big Cup! - Hands down….Yummy!
    2.  Aero Bar - the bubbles melt in your mouth!  For my birthday last year I received an antique candy display rack filled with them!  Of course, I shared!
    3.  Milky Way Midnight - always a good choice!

I am excited for the Reeses Whipped!

Do you rember the 7-up bars?  I used to love picking them up at the Hartz grocery store with mt Great Grandma!

Comment by Stacy on 9/23/07 at 5:29 pm #
  11. I love your blog!! Just reading your entries (usually at night) makes me crave candies…

    anyway, my favorites are…

    1) Lindt Lindor Chocolates - especially the truffles.. White Chocolate is my fav!

    2) Cadbury Creme Eggs - Mmm..

    3) Ice Breakers Fruit Sours - I’m not sure if they count as candies.. technically they’re mints? But whatever, I eat them like candy.

I’m most looking forward to the Mike and Ike Lemonade Stand Mix, (i love anything to do with lemons), and also the Chewy Lemonheads

Comment by Jenn on 9/23/07 at 5:48 pm #
  12. 1) Reese’s Pieces, cause ET can’t be wrong.
    2) Ferrero Rocher, for tasty Nutella insides
    3) Starburst, smooth creamy fruity goodness.

I want them to bring back M&M Crisp. But instead of chocolate, put a peanut butter filling. Yummy!

Comment by Philip on 9/23/07 at 5:55 pm #
  13. Its hard to pick favorites, so I will pick three that I get random big time cravings for:

    1) Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
2)Jelly Bellies, in particular Juicy Pear and Buttered Popcorn (Yea, people think I am weird with the popcorn…)
2)Peach O’s (I like several different brands) gummy + peach flavoring = yum.

I want to try the 3 musketeers Mint, but have yet to see it in stores. :(

Comment by Kevin on 9/23/07 at 6:22 pm #
  14. Lemonheads. Always loved them, irritated that the big boxes have started having fewer and fewer of them.

Guittard Single Source Orinoco chocolate. The absolute best milk chocolate I’ve had.

    Dark chocolate covered crystellized ginger.

I generally look for things in the ultra-sour range to try, or raspberry flavoured (I adore raspberries). I’ve lost most of my taste for hershey’s et all chocolate recently, though I keep trying their new stuff in hopes that it’ll be better.

Comment by Josie on 9/23/07 at 6:39 pm #
  15. Three favourite candies of all time? Only three? I don’t think I can choose. But three kinds of candy that I love are:

    1) Dark chocolate. Lately I’ve been eating Green & Black’s, but I love any dark chocolate that’s not too sweet.

    2) Kopiko coffee candies.

    3) Fruity bears. Not gummy bears, although they aren’t bad, but the ones made with real fruit juice like we used to get at the bulk food store when I was a little kid.

As for what I’m looking forward to, I’m not exactly sure about that either (wow, am I ever indecisive this evening). I’d be interested in hearing about different kinds of dark chocolate, especially any with nuts, and I’m a fan of most kinds of citrus (the exception being that really awful fake lime flavour) so the chewy Lemonheads sound interesting.

Comment by Nicole on 9/23/07 at 7:17 pm #
  16. 1. Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Bar
Less Milk, More Chocolate taste, I tend to prefer this one nowadays, although I also love Nestle’s Crunch Bars (with Rice)

    2. Maynard’s Winegums
This UK Treat is also available in Canada but not the US. Kind of like a Gummy but is less sweet than the standard German Types. I get mine from a British Goods Store who Imports the Canadian version (which is the same as the UK one)

    3. Hershey’s Skor Toffee Chocolate Bars.
I really am a fan of Toffee bars, I also like the Heath Bar, but I prefer the Skor bar as it is 1 big piece and not 2 smaller pieces. The Heath Bits and Pieces for Ice Cream I also like.

Comment by Alan on 9/23/07 at 7:17 pm #
  17. My top three most favorite candies are:

    1. Cadbury Cream Eggs. Soooooooo gooooooood.

    2. Cadbury mini eggs.  Cadbury chocolate is so smooth and the outer shell is perfectly crunchy and a tiny bit chalky- which makes it very interesting!

    3. Just about anything that is chocolate + mint.  Christmas time is my candy jackpot-time for this.  My favorite seasonal candy was the candy cane tootsie roll pops.

I’m really looking forward to trying the dark chocolate Reese’s cups- and while I’m in this vein I’m intrigued by the Elvis edition Reese cup, too (I hope they’re still around!).  Also the Lemon Meringue Andes sound tasty, too.

Comment by Julie on 9/23/07 at 7:39 pm #
  18. Three favorite candies? Well, of course it’s impossible to pick just three, but here are some of my favorites
    1. Milky Way Dark
    2. Vosge Barcelona Bar
    3. Any salt caramels

What am I looking forward to trying? So many things, including Niederegger’s new espresso bar, Chocolate Pop Rocks, Reese’s Dark Chocolate, some of the new limited edition Hershey’s Kisses, Skittles Chocolate mix, and anything made by Vosges.

Comment by Jen on 9/23/07 at 7:47 pm #
  19. top 3 candies -

    1) violet crumble - SIMPLY THE BEST

    2) there were these candies sold in my high school for fundraiser events.  and they were called bon bon’s or something?!

they were chewy and had different flavors like strawberry, blueberry, etc.

    CAN YOU HELP ME IDENTIFY?!

    3) chocolate covered gummi bears - you just get the best of both worlds!

Comment by lesley on 9/23/07 at 8:37 pm #
  20. 1.) Peanut Butter M&Ms; - they’re like Peanut Butter cups that don’t melt and have better peanut butter
2.) Nerds - tangy and tiny and fun to sort.
3.) Fran’s Grey Salt Caramels - the salt makes the flavor of the caramel so much deeper.

The Chocktails sound interesting, as well as Dessert Indulgences, and I’m always up for new and intriguing flavors of anything!

  23. 1. Reese’s peanut butter cups (the smaller ones)
    2. Toffee
    3. Tootsie Roll Pops

I want to try the 3 Musketeer’s mini assorted flavors reviewed here a while ago. Ooh, and Elvis Reese’s. I’m excited about chewy lemonheads, as well as chocolate mix skittles.

Comment by El on 9/23/07 at 10:09 pm #
  24. #1 Hershey’s Swoops (seem to be discontinued)
    #2 Milka White Chocolate bar
#3 Reese’s Cups (I’m looking forward to the dark chocolate ones you said would come soon)
I’m looking forward the pop-rocks chocolate you mentioned, chocolate skittle mix and anything sour.
Winning would be truly wonderful !!!

  25. 1 - Swedish Fish. There is no substitute for the real red ones.

    2 - Bulls Eye caramels.

    3 - Tootsie Rolls.

Comment by stacey on 9/24/07 at 2:23 am #
  26. 1. Snickers dark-the snickers combo is addictive and the dark chocolate makes it that much richer
    2. Pate de fruit-LOVE the concentrated fruit taste
    3. Chick-o-sticks-love coconut and peanut butter so the combo is delightful

I am looking forward to the Reese’s with dark chocolate as well as the peppermint tootsie roll pops.  I searched and searched and could not find them last year, so I’m glad they are still around.

Comment by Kimberly on 9/24/07 at 2:51 am #
  27. Three all time favorites:

    - peanut butter M&Ms; (the big Shrek-sized ones)
    - Trolli cola bottles
    - any really good chocolate covered caramel

I’m looking forward to trying the new mint M&Ms; someone mentioned upthread. I also kinda want to try the Elvis Reeses cup but I haven’t been able to bring myself to buy one.

Comment by Adrien on 9/24/07 at 3:02 am #
  28. My three all time favorite candies are:

Hershey Cookies-N-Mint (oh, why did they have to discontinue it?!)

    M&Ms;
    Anything from L.A. Burdick

I would love to try the green tea kisses, but since I am unlikely to get the chance, but a more realistic goal would probably be the deluxe junior mints. I have always been a fan of the originals, so these sounded yummy. Thanks!

Comment by Isabelle on 9/24/07 at 3:50 am #
  29. 1 - Starburst (original, of course)

2 - Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or the holiday equivalent (I actually prefer the eggs or pumpkins or Christmas Trees because you do not get the hard outer edge as you do with the cup)...

3 - To choose only three is hard, maybe caramel creams?  or Salt Water Taffy?  or strawberry Twizzlers?  or Reeses Pieces?  or Haribo gummy bears?  I don’t think I can decide.  I am a candy addict.

I am really looking forward to trying the Reese’s Whips and the chewy atomic fireballs (I love the original and all too often find myself chomping through them!).

Comment by Jen on 9/24/07 at 3:54 am #
  30. my top picks are the original chunky, grape pixy stix, and nougat! through this blog, i have hooked up with a honey nougat. i am looking forward to the new ferrara pan nougat and i hope i see some in my winning basket! thanks for this blog.

  31. Twix: glad I’m not the only one who pines for the cookies n’ creme of yesteryear.

Creme egg: makes giving up candy for Lent much, much harder.

Milk and dark chocolate Wilbur Buds: local favorite puts Hershey to shame.

Without this site, I wouldn’t know what to look forward to. Big fan of dark chocolate and wacky fruit flavors, but not together. Fruit and chocolate do not mix.

Comment by Tim on 9/24/07 at 4:03 am #
  32. 1. Junior Mints
    2. M&Ms;
    3. Gummi anything!

The Fruit and Yogurt mix and the Lemonade Stand mix both sound delicious.  Despite my top 3 listing above, I’m a big fan of chewy fruity candy too!

Comment by RP on 9/24/07 at 4:12 am #
  33. Favorites

    1.  Good and Plenty— I’ll never understand why black licorice has such a bad reputation
    2.  Junior Mints—the perfect movie candy
    3.  Lindt milk chocolate—smooth and sweet on the tongue

I’m looking forward to all things related to Junior Mints and chocolate in general, though I’ll admit that I’m intrigued by the Welch’s selection.

Comment by Nathalie on 9/24/07 at 4:22 am #
  34. After reading your coverage of the candy expo i could seriously go for those batman inspired dark chocolate Reese’s PB cups and the 99% Cocao Truffle from Michel Cluizel.Bogdon’s Dark Chocolate covered Peppermint Reception Sticks sound like a winner. And the concept of J. Morgan Confections Licorice Caramel blows my mind…Licorice Carmel….my tastebuds just don’t know what to do with that information. As to my Fav’s of all times, well here you are.

    1. Stork Riesens - The perfect bite sized candy. Dark Chocolate and thick, chewey, chocolatey Carmel…what more could you want? Team them up with Pretels and you have a combo worthy of the sweet snack gods.

    2. Lake Champlaign’s Five Star Bars - these little bricks of heavenly goodness are just too scrumptious to describe.

    3. York Peppermint Patty (Frozen, shattered while in wrapper, and then thawed) - clean cut shards of dark chocolate covered minty freshness - the perfect end to a late afternoon lunch.

Comment by Michael Morris on 9/24/07 at 4:56 am #
  35. 1. Peanut M and Ms

    Good and Plenty
    Take 5 Bar
    Reeses Cups (small)

    Looking forward to:
One day finding pink grapefruit mentos
    Reeses whipps
    another Vosges Bacon Bar

  37. 1.  Big Turk
    2.  Mint Aero
    3.  Wine Gums

Not necessarily in that order.  That was a hard choice.

  38. I am really a old school candy girl.

My favorites that take me back to the playground are SUGARBABIES, BANANA NOW & LATERS, AND CHIK-O-STICKS (even though I am allergic to peanuts, I would still eat them and run home before my hives came.)

All of my favorites were sticky treats now that I look back, yes, I was a dentists’ dream as a kid!!!!

Comment by Shaneka Moore on 9/24/07 at 5:33 am #
  39. 1) Reese’s Eggs
    2) Sno-Caps
    3) M&M’s Dark

As for what I’m looking forward to?  Any new dark chocolate product always catches my eye.

Comment by Scott on 9/24/07 at 5:36 am #
  40. 1. Salted Caramels. Really salty ones that aren’t quite the strength of those freaky salty Dutch licorice things, but salty all the same.

    2. The See’s Toffee with almonds. Oh my Lord is that stuff good. Followed by the California brittle (might be the same thing, considering almonds are from California)

    3. Ritter Sport Milk Chocolate with Whole Roasted Hazelnuts. It is easy to break up and savor a bar over the course of a few days or I can split it with my fiance with no hard feelings.

I’m looking forward to the Junior Mints deluxe. I like eating regular JMs sandwiched between Ritz Crackers, so perhaps the deluxe ones will have other applications.

Comment by Abi on 9/24/07 at 5:40 am #
  41. 1) Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.  I would consider selling my cat for these, especially if they’re fresh from the fridge.

    2) Toffifay.  The first time I had these was in elementary school and I remember feeling ‘sophisticated’ because they were pricier than a regular candy bar.  I grab them whenever I see them.

    3. Ferro Rocher. A friend of mine gave me my first box as a Christmas gift and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I’m looking forward to trying the Candy Corn kisses, if for no other reason than I love candy corn.  Any new chocolate is also welcomed.

Comment by Jess on 9/24/07 at 5:42 am #
  42. 1.  Haribo gummi bears ... especially the clear/white ones

    2.  Snickers

    3.  almond M&Ms;
looking forward to new spins on dark chocolate treats!

Comment by Carmen on 9/24/07 at 6:09 am #
  43. 1. reese’s crispy crunchy bar. i’m a candy freak, and though it’s only been around a little while, it made it’s way into my top spot. there’s something about the peanut butter flavor and the texture that are just perfection.

    2. bar none. i don’t think this bar is around anymore, but i used to eat them as a kid. a bar none, gently melted in the microwave, was a favorite after school treat of mine. i’m not sure how it would hold up to my adult taste buds, but thinking back on it, it was a great.

    3. peanut butter m&m’s. again, with the peanut butter. pretty much anything with pb as an ingredient is a winner with me.

i’m a huge fan of all the limited addition items that have been coming out over the last few years. suffice to say, if it’s something new, i will make it my mission to go out and try it. i would love to see a peanut butter kit kat option come out. though it’s not listed in my top 3, i’ve always been a big fan of the kit kat, and a cross between that and a peanut butter cup sounds amazing.

  44. My 3 Favorites of all time:
Snickers, See’s Molasses Chips(YUM!), and Milk Chocolate caramels from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!!

I’m looking forward to the pop rocks chocolate!  Always a fan of pop rocks!  I also grew up addicted to the Atomic Fireballs - would break them to bits and eat them in cereal, applesauce, on ice cream…  Loved them!  Can’t wait to try the chewy version!

  46. My three most classic all-time favorites are probably

    1) Take 5 Bars
    2) Daim Toffee bites, sold in red bags at Ikea. It’s the PERFECT proportion of toffee to chocolate and terribly addictive.
    3) Sour anything, but especially grapefruit slices and jelly bellies. There is just not enough grapefruit candy out there.

I am most looking forward to the sour lemonade stand mix and the chewy lemonheads. I remember when we used to go to summer camp and spend our $5 at the canteen in 10-cent increments on those big giant lemonhead and cherry clans (when I was a kid they were in the “clan” stage). Mmmmmmmmm.

  47. my top 3:
    1. Chocolove Crystallized Ginger in Dark Chocolate.

    2. Goetze’s Caramel Creams

    3. Coffee KitKats (why did they get rid of these??)

I’m looking forward to Hershey finally making some dark mexican chocolate kisses. (wishful thinking)

  54. It’s nearly impossible to select my three favorite types of candy, let alone put them in order! But the prize at stake is worth all of my personal strife on this matter, so herrrre goes:

    1. Milk Chocolate. I don’t care about brand, quality (though quality is nice), or anything along those lines; I just care that it’s delicious. Mmm. (Organic Hershey’s Squares are quite good, though.)
    2. As of this moment, I love malted milk balls, the ones you get from a true candy shop.
    3. German raspberries—those gummy red and black raspberries coated in little crunchy balls. Completely underappreciated.

Out of all the new products I’ve heard about, I’m most looking forward to trying the Reeses Whipps, I think. Anything Reeses must be tried by me.

Comment by Erin McKnight on 9/24/07 at 7:20 am #
  55. 1. Reeses PB cups, especially the mini size. We always had the ones in the Christmas foil and I spent my holidays eating them non-stop.

    2. Sugar Babies. terrible for my teeth, but great for the road.

    3. Gummy Bears. Light and fruity treat, can’t go wrong.

I’m looking forward to one day trying those different flavored Mentos. Also, I’m still trying to find the autumn 3 musketeers in my area, but haven’t come across them.

  56. Three favorite candies of all time?  Wow, that’s a tough one—and a year from now I’ll probably look back on this list and think, “Huh?”  So much of candy is about nostalgia and childhood; it also ties in with travel and family.  A psychoanalyst could probably start with one’s “three favorite candies” as with a dream and eventually end up with the sum total of one’s mental concerns at the moment when the list was made.  With that prologue, here goes:

    1. Twizzlers black licorice
    2. Raisin and Biscuit Yorkies (available in UK)
    3. Spree (preferably purchased by the handful from one of those coin-operated machines that used to stand in every supermarket I encountered in the early ‘70s).

What am I looking forward to?  Anything tasty and innovative in the realms of licorice and caramel.

    - Mint Aero (if only the US sold them…)

And in the special homemade category:
    - Fairy Food / Sponge Candy

I am really excited for the Chewy Atomic Fireballs, and curious about the Chocolate Skittles - I feel like they’re going to be awesome or awful.

  67. Wow, what a question!  Favorite candies of all time when there are so many amazing ones to choose from, all right, here goes…

    1)  Reeces Peanut butter ANYTHING…I can’t get enough to reeces peanut butter.  Most notably: classic peanut butter cups, reeces eggs (the big ones, not the tiny ones, though those are good too), and reeces big cups.

    2) Black forest gummi bears.  I just adore those little squishy bears.  The black forest ones do it best for me when I am really craving gummi goodness.

    3)  Tart n Tiny.  (the original kind).  Sadly I can’t get these any more but on all-time fave candy list I cannot leave these out.  When I was a kid and my aunt would take me to the local 5 and dime she’d let me pick out one toy and one candy from the store and my candy pick was always the original tart n tinys.  Oh I miss those so much and never really became a fan of the newer candy-shell coated, differently shaped replacements.

...as for candy I am looking forward to, another hard question.  If you mean from the Candy Expo candies only, then the chocolate skittles would definitely be on my list to try, as well as the chewy lemonheads.  Non expo candy I look forward to is joining the new fresh from the factory club they have over at the hersheys site.  I noticed the Reeces lovers 3-month club and am going to sign up soon (thanks to this blog for ever introducing me to the existence of fresh from the factory products!).

Thank you for this opportunity, I look forward to seeing who wins.  Keep up the great blogging!

  68. 1) Ferrero Rochers.  Just completely up my alley.  Love the hazelnut-chocolate creme.

    2) Starbursts, standard flavors.  Perfect mix of sweet and that after-effect of citrus.

    3) Milky Way Midnight.  Used to have one from the vending machine on my way home after school every other day.  Loved them then, love them now.

What products am I looking forward to?  I don’t know.  I was certainly looking forward to Elvis Cups, don’t know if they qualify however, as they’ve already been released and possibly withdrawn again.

Comment by Daniel on 9/24/07 at 9:00 am #
  69. 1.  Reeses’ p.b. eggs
    2.  Asher’s dark chocolate-covered graham crackers
    3.  Russell Stover triple-chocolate mousse squares(of their new line of “international chocolates”

  70. 1) Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, call me old fashioned, but I love them!!!  Big cups, minis, easter eggs, I love them all!
    2) Peanut M&M’s
    3) Huckleberry Gummi Bears, the reason why I found this blog!  I was trying to find out how to get more of these gems!

And, i’m always looking for chocolate and peanut butter anything.  The two best things in the world, chocolate and peanut butter!

I love your blog, by the way.  I’ve been checking out the candy section at Target and will be hitting the gas station to see if I can still find some of the Elvis Peanut Butter cups!

  71. 1) Take 5 Bars (the original, none of the variations)
    2) Matcha flavored candy (matcha dusted almonds? Yummy!)
    3) Licorice pastilles

I am looking forward to more unexpected, wacky flavor combinations that somehow work together. Like the Vosges Bacon & Chocolate bar, or the Pop Rocks Chocolate Bar. I’d really like to see some more maple flavored selections too!

Comment by Brit on 9/24/07 at 10:18 am #
  72. 1. Violet Crunch- such a great texture. I could do without the chocolate coating, though.
    2. Sugar Daddies- Teeth-stuck together caramel goodness!
    3. Marizpan- It has to be absolutely fresh and soft.

I love special editions of most stuff. I like unusual things- usually non-american. When I travel, one of my favorite things is to try new candies in new flavors. That’s how I discovered Violet Crumble and Mint Aeros. So nummy!

  73. Favorite candies:

    1) Sweetarts
    2) Peanut M&Ms;

Looking forward to anything new involving chocolate.

Comment by Debbie on 9/24/07 at 10:22 am #
  74. OK, I’m going to do 3 chocolate favorites, and 3 non-chocolate favorites, because it’s just too darn hard to narrow my favorites down!

    Chocolate
    1. Peanut Butter Hershey’s Kisses - I’m a huge fan of these. I like them even better than Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (mini) I think it’s the ratio of chocolate to peanut butter that gives it the edge in my book. (Peanut Butter M&Ms; are a very close second).

    2. Katherine Beich (sp?) Caramel Candy Bars (the fundraising ones) - I cannot resist these. One favorite memory is when I was younger, my grandpa had a bag (store-bought) of bits and pieces of this candy bar - like they were rejects because they had broken. But, I swear, it was the best thing ever. I have never found such a bag, so I’m not sure if my memory of this being store-bought was a fluke, but it’s definitely a great memory!

    3. Nestles’ 100 Grand Candy Bar - I’ve taken to buying the mini bars and scarfing them all down. This is the only candy that I will keep eating even when my stomach starts aching from too much sugar. The fun mouth feel of the bar is what draws me in - the crunch texture along with the caramel and chocolate! That’s a killer!

    Honorable mention: Riesen’s Caramel squares

    Non-Chocolate
    1. Tootsie Rolls - the chunkier rectangular ones are my favorite (with the little cardboard holder; why do they even need that?!) These qualify for non-chocolate, right? I just assumed they are chocolate-flavored, but don’t contain actual chocolate.

    2. Sour Patch Kids - Punishing but irresistible!

    3. The Pink Starbursts - I am a starburst fan, but I find myself savoring the pink flavor the best - I think it’s strawberry. The cherry flavor is great too, but I save all the pinks for last. Honorable mention: the red Skittles

    New Products
Not sure how new these are, but I’ve tried the Cherry Chocolate M&Ms; and thought they were wonderful.

I’ve also tried the fruit tootsie rolls. I bought them because for some reason I was expecting them to mix the chocolate with a fruit flavor ( like how the lollipops have the tootsie roll inside the other-flavored lollipop). However, I was not too satisfied with them. My favorite was the cherry, and the others were fine… I just was distracted by how waxy they felt while I was chewing them.

I am dying to try the Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans ( I know I’m slow on this product, but I don’t go searching for candy - I’m just a casual drugstore shopper). And the idea of combining these with the normal jelly bellies is great!!!

I’d like to try the Elvis Peanut Butter cup, as well.

  75. 1. Haribo Gummi Bears (or any other Haribo gummmi shape for that matter)
    2. Junior Mints
    3. Milky Way Midnight

I’m looking forward to the junior mints deluxe, chocolate skittles, and chewy lemon heads.

Comment by Erin on 9/24/07 at 10:33 am #
  76. 1. Snickers
    2. Mini Mint 3 Musketeers- for some reason they’re so much better in the mini size
    3. Haribo gummi bears

I can’t wait to try the junior mints deluxe and the flavored M&Ms;.

  78. Faves -
#1 - Cadbury Eggs - I look forward to these every year, and then hoard them so I can savor them.
#2 - Junior Mints - best movie snack ever
    #3 - 3 Muskateers - also a nougant fiend

I’m partial to anything chocolate.  But I would be interested in trying any of the new treats.  I have trouble finding any new or different varieties of candies in my area.  I just came across the caramel reeses cups yesterday for the first time (they were ok).  That’s part of the reason why I enjoy reading your blog - hearing about all the neat stuff that’s out there!

  79. Mmmm… only three?  That’s tough….

Hmmmm - I hate to say it, but its all imports:

    1. Cadbury Dairy Milk bar (but from the UK, ‘cause it’s the richer chocolate)
    2. Aero (The Canadian bar)
      2a. Aero Mint
3.Carmilk Bars (Again, Canadian, what can I say?)
      3a. Maple Carmilk Bars

    2. Those cone shaped Japanese tea hard candies you reviewed last year that we don’t know the name of.
2&1/2. Kakawa Chocolate cover WHOLE Cocoa beans - I shelled out $30 for a 5oz bag and still think it was totally worth it.
    3. Those Brach’s mallowcreme pumpkins, I know they’re disgusting - I just can’t get enough of them though!!!
    Thanks!

  83. 3 all-time favorites:

    1) Snickers—all the different flavors and textures make it so much fun to eat!

    2) PB cups (or eggs, or pumpkins, or Xmas trees, etc)—not necessarily Reese’s, although I won’t turn those down.  I love a good creamy PB center, and the Gertrude Hawk PB smidgens are wonderful!

    3) Caramello—preferably in King size so that there’s more gooey caramel inside to enjoy.  The Cadbury milk chocolate is so creamy!

What am I looking forward to?  Well, I’d still like to try the Razzberry M&Ms;, but can’t find them yet.  Already tried a Reese’s Whipps, so that’s off the list (although I’d eat a few more if they found their way into my candy stash).  The chocolate Skittles and chewy atomic fireballs are intriguing for sure!  Something I’m dying for them to bring back so I can try it is the PB Snickers.  Missed it the first time around, but it sounds totally up my alley!

  84. choosing only 3 is quite difficult…so I’ll choose the top 3 that popped in my mind.

    1) Sour Belts! (perfect ratio of sweet/sour)
    2) Red Swedish Fish (I like to eat all the edges first)
    3) Fruit Roll ups (I like rolling the whole sheet up into a ball and take a nice bite out of it)

I’m definitely looking fwd to Chocolate Skittles! I think I can already picture them tasting like bite size tootsie rolls with a crisp shell around it. mmm… Oh! And chewy lemonheads are coming out?!!? *drools* smile

  85. 1) Frozen Reese’s Cups

    2) Skor Bar

    3) Charleston Chew
    Good warm or frozen!

  86. Cybele, I just heard you on Leo and Cammy’s Munchcast! You were terrific and I really worked up an appetite, so I thought I’d check out your blog and found this drawing. Love the blog. Love candy. Keep it up.

My personal top three candy favorites are:

    1) See’s Butterscotch Squares, which are simply a cube of brown sugar dipped in milk chocolate. Enough said.

2)Butterfingers - BB’s or bars, but sadly, not the Crisps, which are a major disappointment.

    3) Snickers - a guilty pleasure. I buy way too many snack-sized bars for Halloween just so I can eat the leftovers myself.

As for the candies you mentioned in your post, my son is one of the “sour” fans you mentioned on the podcast. So the Apple Sours would be a big hit here. The Mike and Ike Lemonade thingy sounds intriguing. And the Junior Mint Deluxe is making my mouth water.

  87. three all-time favorites:
      * Hershey’s cookies and cream candy bar.
      * Raisinettes. oh, yum!
      * Reese’s miniatures

  88. Top three of all time:

    1. American Standard Snaps
    2. see if you remember this one.  Sears had a candy counter when i was growing up.  they used to sell single Carmelo’s, a hunk of marshmallow covered in either dark or light carmel.  mmmmmmm.
    3. Marathon Bar

  89. Well I tried once to reply here and I don’t see mine anywhere, which is a shame cause I don’t think I can duplicate what I originally wrote…but I’ll try my best.

My all time favorite candies would have to be:

    1) It’s mentioned by many people, but that many can’t be wrong, right?  REECES Peanut butter anything…especially the classic cups, easter eggs (the large ones, not the small ones), and big cups.  I was recently disappointed however with the new whipps…I was expecting it to be better and wasn’t really a fan of it.  They can’t all be winners though, I suppose.

    2)  Black Forest gummi bears.  I love these little guys so much when I am craving gummi goodness.  The black forest ones do it for me because I love the flavor of all the bears, and the consistency feels perfect to me.  I might have to go buy some now that they are on my mind!

    3)  The original Tart n Tinies.  Oh, how I wish these were still available.  I used to buy them every week when my aunt would take me to the little grocery around the corner from the house where I grew up, she’d always let me buy one candy, anythign I wanted and I ALWAYS picked these because I adored them so much.  I never did become much a fan of the newer, candy coated, more rounded ones.

As for candy I am looking forward to, from the candy expo you have intrigued me with the chocolate skittles because I do like skittles quite a big and LOVE chocolate, also the chewy lemonheads because I love lemonheads but don’t so much like hard candies, so chewy ones might be just what the doc. ordered…I am also looking forward to joining one of Hersheys’ new fresh from the factory clubs…the three month reeces lovers one to be exact, that sounds like a little slice of heaven to me!

Thanks for this great blog, and great contest!  Keep up the good work smile

  94. Hi There!

I’ve been reading your blog for quite awhile, but this is the first time I’ve posted smile  I love your reviews—though I don’t always agree . . . they’re still entertaining and help me find new things to look for . . . like Pocky & Elvis Reeses cups & well, just the idea of pretzels with chocolate.

Three top of the list candies:

    Plain M&Ms;
Normal Jelly beans - the plain basic type, like Sathers
Russel Stover Maple Creme Eggs (buzzard eggs @ Halloween, other eggs @ Christmas & Easter)

I’m not looking forward to any particular candy . . . I guess just whatever is new and on sale for me to try next week at the store smile

Comment by Freddie on 9/24/07 at 12:48 pm #
  95. Three choices are hard to come by but here they ae:
    Butterfingers—doesn’t matter what size
Goetze’s Chocolate Caramel Creams—always buy a few pounds when visiting in Chicago
Dark Truffles by any candy maker
Anything chocolate gets my attention.  So let’s see what the holidays will bring forth.

Comment by CB on 9/24/07 at 12:53 pm #
  96. At the moment…

    1. Bit-o-honeys (which I can’t find anywhere lately, grrr)
    2. Peanut butter M&M’s (I love that the peanut butter is actually kind of salty and that they’re filling)
    3. Peppermint bark (chocolate+white chocolate+mint=<3)

I like the idea of peppermint peeps, but after making my own peppermint marshmallows last winter, I’m afraid the peeps probably won’t measure up. So, I’m going to have to go with the chewy lemonheads as the candy I’m most looking forward to.

  97. Ok, Trying this again—comment got lost . . .

Hi!  I’ve been reading your blog for quite awhile.  But I haven’t posted a comment before.  Greediness is the partial cause of this . . .

I love reading your reviews, though I don’t always agree.  They are wonderfully helpful in finding new things to try and keep an eye out for . . . like Pocky, Elvis PB & Banana Reeses, remembering that I loved Mentos in high school & should try them again, and just the idea of combining pretzels with chocolate.

    Top 3 candies:

    Plain M&Ms;
Normal Jelly Beans (the nice boring kind, like Sathers)
Russel Stovers Maple Creme Eggs (Buzzard Eggs @ Halloween, other things for Christmas, Valentines, & back to Eggs @ Easter)

As far as what I’m looking forward to . . . just whatever’s new and happens to be on sale next week at the store.  And, well, Chocolate mix Skittles sound yum!

  98. 3 Favorite candies (in no particular order)

Good & Plenty (I actually never tried these until I read your review!  I love licorice!)

Junior Mints (well, any mint with dark chocolate—these are just readily available)

Milky Way bars/Bit-O-Honey/Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.  Sorry, it’s really hard to narrow the list down to three!

I’m looking forward to trying a nougat.  Your review of the Ferra Nougat is interesting.  The next time I’m over at Bristol Farms, I’m going to look for the Flamighi Torrone—I’ve never had a Torrone and it looks quite good.

(BTW, I really enjoy your blog!)

    2. Ferrero Rocher (love hazelnut and chocolate)
    3. Haribo Gummi bears (can’t get enough of them!)

I am looking forward to trying the three-flavor variety of Three Musketeers, the Lemonade Mike and Ike’s and would love to find some to the Asian flavored citrus candies!

  106. 1.  Haribo Gummy Bears

    2.  Lindt Milk Chocolate

    3.  Ferrara Pan Lemonheads

Junior Mints Deluxe, Chewy Lemonheads, Grapefruit Mentos???  The candy gods needs to get out of my head because those sound incredibly delectable.  How do I go about acquiring grapefruit Mentos?

  107. Oh man, I feel so giddy just thinking about all of the candy that you got to try and the ones that are coming up next year (hopefully to Canada as well).

Three Favorite Candies of all time:

    1. Smarties - being from Canada they are my M&M’s
    2. Sour Patch Kids
    3. Double Bubble Fluff Cotton Candy - I can’t believe they don’t make this anymore!!

What I’m looking forward to (If they make it to Canada):

    1. Chocolate Mix Skittles
    2. Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate with White Mint Filling
    3. Mint Crisp M&Ms; (Can you tell I have a thing for minty candy…)

Comment by Stuart Taylor on 9/24/07 at 2:46 pm #
  108. My top three candies (subject to change):

    1.  Butterfinger Crisp
    2.  Cadbury Fruit and Nut (UK version)
    3.  Hershey’s Symphony (large bar with almonds and toffee pieces)

I’m looking forward to eating more chocolate!

  109. Wow, to only pick three favorites…especially after reading some other comments and being reminded of some that slipped my mind originally.  I can’t do it.  Instead, the three that first popped into mind:

    1. Botan Rice Candy
    2. Fruitang (British candy that I believe no longer exists).
    3. 100 Grand

As for what I am looking forward to…anything.  Very intrigued by the aforementioned Chocolate Mix Skittles.

  110. oh boy…

    1) wine gums - sadly, i’ve been unable to find fresh ones in the us/canada.

    2) reese’s pieces - classic.  wonderful.

    3) caramel creams - my mom’s favorite candy.  it rubbed off on me, they make my mouth water

the chocolate skittles are making me all kinds of excited.  a lady i work with brought me back a package of chocolate licorice that she bought on vacation, and now that they’re gone i’m jonesing for chewy chocolate.

  111. 1] Love ‘LaFleurs’ homemade chocolates, this mom & pop handmade chocolate shop has been located on the same street [Mount Plesant] in Toronto for over 40 years; give me their lemon fondant filled dark chocolates. Oooh yah.

2] Love ‘Fry’s, Orange cream chocolate bar.

3] World’s finest chocolate covered almonds. These folks mainly sell chocolates for school fundraisers, but I still like their almonds best. More chocolate on them than most and fresh large size almonds.

As for new products… I’ve been told that Cadbury’s may reissue their Orange Cream Sandwich cookies in time for Christmas. Gooey milk chocolate, orange cream, crispy wafers, ooh. Much better than a ‘Jaffa’ cake.

  112. Of course, I must first compliment your blog—it’s without question my favorite and I always look forward to seeing what you’re up to.  You do a great job with variety, organization, and visual appeal, while keeping your writing light and friendly.  Thank you!

So, my top three candies are:

    1. Dark chocolate pecan bark from Anthony Thomas chocolates in my hometown
    2. Milky Way Midnights
    3. Sour Patch Kids (most notably cherry and lemon)

What am I looking forward to?  I expect the trend for interesting organic/natural candies to bring some favorable new tastes.  On the more mainstream side, I’m looking forward to those Reese’s Whipps you mentioned.  I do love peanut butter and chocolate!

Keep up the good work, my friend!

Comment by Jenny on 9/24/07 at 5:00 pm #
  113. 1.) Pocky—with a HUGE range of flavors its the ultimate snacking/studying/driving food. My current favorite is the milk and honey kind.

2.)Pralines—We make them at home, but there are quite a few places in GA that i’ve found that makes them too :3 they’re best warm, mmm soooo goooddd

3.)Dark Chocolate Raisinettes—These are soooo good. And semi-healthy… right?

I’m looking forward to more nougat type bars as well as dark chocolate bars. I’d also like to see more “vintage” candy, PEZ for instance. I’d also like to see more fruit flavors, i’d love to have a boysenberry chocolate :o !!

  114. hey cybele,

I’m really looking forward to melon kit-kat bars that i will hopefully buy from j-box soon.

  115. Three favorite candies of all time:

    1. Sour apple rings. Not the mini ones, the real ones. I love these, and I think that Trolli might be my favorite brand of them, but I haven’t found them in North America.

    2. Smarties: the Canadian kind. Not the little pressed sugar kind but the chocolate ones. I like them better than the British ones.

    3. Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, especially in Juicy Pear.

Comment by Tara on 9/24/07 at 6:10 pm #
  116. 1. Strawberry Charleston Chews
I broke a tooth on a frozen one as a child, because I couldn’t wait for it to soften up. I was scolded and had to see the dentist, but it was worth it.

    2. Candy Cigarettes
Such an odd yet delightful texture. Hard to find ‘em nowadays.

    3. Mochi with red bean paste
Worth the tree hours I’d have to drive to get some… mmm.

I don’t anything about the expo! I suppose I look forward to candies that photograph well, and look absolutely scrumptious. I love candy presentation!

  117. I’m a chocolate lover. My favorites were Reeses, and Twix bars, until the trend of gourmet chocolates. Now I can’t get enough of Vosages’ spicy Chocolate.
I would love to try anything with cool packaging and great taste. Thanks, Leandra

  118. Favorite Candy-

    1.  Sunkist Fruit Slices - Multi-Flavor
I love citrus, and Sunkist really captured strong lemon, lime and orange flavors with this line.  Even the Strawberry tasted good.

    2.  Dots - Original Flavor
Almost nothing beats a fresh box of Dots.

    3.  Cinnamon Bears
I cannot find quality gummy/chewy Cinnamon Bears anymore.  When I ask people about them they just look at me like I’m crazy.  What happened to these candy classics?

    **Worst Candy Ever**
Had to throw this in there- Hot Tamale Ice
I love most JustBorn products, but these taste like soap.  For real, minty soap.

As for what I’m most anticipating, just from your list I’m dying to try the Mike and Ike Lemonade Stand Mix and Chewy Atomic Fireballs.  Should I not win the prize here, I’ll be eagerly awaiting their appearance at my local sugar shack.

Also, I just wanted to let you know that I linked your blog in a recent blurb I wrote about Reese’s Peanut Butter and Banana Creme Elvis Cups.

  119. A favorite subject!

    1. - I don’t know what it was called - but it was as long as a ruler, and twisted (like a pretzel) caramel covered chocolate goodness bar.  Do you have an memory of that - or know what it was called/who made?

    2. Nestle Canada’s - Coffee Crisp

    3. The Old time Jolly Rancher Sticks (I think those were Jolly Rancher)

    4. Good Ole Sour Balls

    5. Coffee Candy—

I really could go on! wink

    Love your site!

  120. Some of my favorite candies are maple sugar leaves, marzipan, Cowgirl chocolates which are chocolate bars and truffles that are spicy, reception sticks, liquorice pastelles, bridge mix and too many more to name!  The candy I’m most looking froward to are the crispy mint M&M’s and the upcoming Halloween and Christmas candy.  I go to your site daily!  Keep up the good work!

  122. I never really considered having a list of “top favorite candy”, as there is really very little candy that I won’t eat (heck, if you gave me a bowl of sugar, I’d eat it with a spoon), but if I had to narrow it down, it would go something like:
    1) Lindt’s Excellence 99% Cacao bar
    2) Gourmet lollipops (you know, the kind that come in flavors like Peanut Butter and Jelly and Key Lime Pie)
    3) Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, or anything even vaguely similar.

Although, fruity chewy candies are what I usually eat; Chewy Spree being my go-to candy most of the time, so I think Chewy Fireballs (!) and Chewy Lemonheads had better be out on the market soon…

Comment by Heidi on 9/24/07 at 9:10 pm #
  123. Oooh that’s hard!
My top 3 would probably be (not in any particular order):
    1. Baked Puccho (HiChew with gummy and crunchy stuff in them) in Custard and Apple Cinammon
    2. Ethel M’s chocolate truffles (Lemon Merengue-dark is yummy!)
    3. Any of See’s Chocolate Assortment

Comment by Christine T on 9/24/07 at 9:37 pm #
  124. My all time favorite candy would have to be

    1)Plain M&Ms;
    2)Turkish Delight

    3)Ice Cream Flavored Skittles….Love them!!!

I am really looking forward to the Rasberry M&Ms; and the Chewy Atomic Fireballs…I literally am eating an Atomic Fireball Sucker I found at Walgreens.

Thank you for reviewing all the different kinds of candy. Everytime you review one I run out and search for it so I can try it….and let me tell you I have tried quite a few different things hehe. Keep up the great reviews!!

      Heath Bars
      Licorace

Can not wait to try Peppermint Peeps

  126. 1) Goetze’s Caramel Creams: This is the taste of childhood to me.  When I was a kid, our neighborhood corner store kept a bin of these at three cents a piece.  This summer, I went in there for the first time in forever…same bin, same candy, a fixed point in a changing age.  Also, it doesn’t hurt that they’re so damn good.

    2) Reese’s anything: Well, peanut butter cups, if I have to choose just one.  The basic will do just fine, but I’m fascinated by the number of variations they’ve wrung out of what I consider one of the rock foundation chocolates.

    3) Zero bar: I might not have one very often (sad to say, I end up with chips a lot more lately), but it would be a darker world if it wasn’t out there somewhere, flying its freak flag among the nougat-based bars.

Honorable mention: Hershey’s Take Five. I got hooked on these when a salvage store (now closed) had them five for a dollar.  It’s got it all goin’ on, baby…

I missed the bus on the chocolate covered Pop Rocks, so the Pop Rocks chocolate bar sounds intriguing.  And yes, I agree with you on the Green Tea Kisses; if there’s enough room in the market for the candy corn variety, why not go for broke?

  127. Ack…top 3 is hard, and subject to change.
    1. Reeses PB Cups
    2. Milky Way Midnight
    3. Ethel M toffee things a friend brought me.

I’m looking forward to more dark chocolate PB cups and all the chocolate I’ll get at the fancy Toronto chocolate stores I’m visiting next month.

  128. My three favorite candies of all time? That’s pretty hard to say…

Charleston Chews… definitely in my top three. I love them! I can freeze them or eat them as they are, and I enjoy them each way.

Second would probably be… Reeses peanut butter cups. I love the taste, the smell, and the fact that they have peanut butter! (which is a major food group, as I am sure everyone knows) I also like that they aren’t too sweet, and they have a little bit of salt to them.

Third is, well, anything gummy. I enjoy gummibears and gummiworms. Some brands are better than others, but I’ve never gotten into the comparison side of things with those. I also love Hershey peanut M&Ms;. I get those out of the dispensers on campus more than anything else.

I would like to see something like a chocolate bar with thin nougat in the center (not like the charleston chews.. a little less nougat). It would be nice if the chocolate were bittersweet to balance out the sweetness of the nougat a bit more too.

  144. All of my favorites are the things I look forward to eating because they are really difficult/expensive to obtain.  The first two I became obsessed with when I spent a few months in Italy.

    1.  Kinder Surprise Eggs
    2.  Bounty Bar
    3.  Pink Grapefruit Mentos

I have a hard time turning down a new candy of any kind, but I’m really intrigued by “Junior Mints Deluxe,” since the regular candy is delicious and my imagination is going wild trying to figure out what the deluxe version would be like.

Thanks for the amazing website!  I love knowing what to hunt for and which new candies I can pass on when I see them in the stores.

Comment by Molly on 9/25/07 at 8:47 am #
  145. 1.  Switzer’s Grape Licorice Bar
(chewy, juicy, and when one’s bored—PANPIPES!)
    2.  Switzer’s Cherry Licorice Bar
(when the brand was failing, I settled for this, and, yes, I know Switzer’s is back, but nowhere near me, or at no Internet store that accepts PayPal)
    3.  Kasugai Grape Gummy Candies
(like crack, to me, but more expensive….)

What I look forward to?  In the manner of Russell Stover’s ‘upscale’ chocolates, everyday brands using richer enrobing chocolate.  I know everything’s going to go up in price, anyway, so if I have to limit what I buy, I’d like a basic candy bar to taste as good as it can, even if I have to pay over a dollar for it.  I’d rather have that trend, then any mockulate incursion….

  146. Wow! What a treat from one of my very favorite blogs!

    Let’s see - 3 favorite candies:
    1) Apollo chocolates (Japanese) - love the strawberry part and separating the strawberry and chocolate with my teeth!
    2) York Peppermint Patties - responsible for my life-long love of all things mint chocolate
    3) Almond Roca - mmm, crunch, crunch, crunch.

And as for the candy I’m looking forward to, I’ve been looking for the fall 3-flavor pack of 3 Musketeers ever since I read your review - I can’t find it anywhere though!  But I’ve been waiting for something like this ever since my mom first told me of the original three-part 3 Musketeers bar.  Can’t wait!

  147. 1. Twix candy bars!
    2. Chocolate with pop rocks (originally the Elite Israeli kind but haven’t seen it in the states, so I’m willing to try Hlek’s chocolate poppers)
    3. Butterfinger!

Looking forward to the triple chocolate bar coming back (even though I don’t know of any plans for it too) - milk, dark and white chocolate all in one!

  149. 1. Swedish fish. RED swedish fish. Regardless of the fact that they all use the same flavoring and just have different dyes, for some reason as a kid I always believed the red fish to be inherently “better.” These little gummies were the Holy Grail when I was a kid—you couldn’t find them in just any old store, and whenever mom came back from the Warehouse Club with a specialty box I absolutely lost it.

    2. Sour Patch Kids. All candy is bad for you, but eating a Walgreens-purchased one pound bag of these was like ingesting nuclear weapons. By the time I forced myself to stop eating my mouth would be bloody, and I wouldn’t care.

    3. Baby Ruth. The best American candy bar by far, it balances perfectly between nuts, nougat, and chocolate is sublime, and who cares if it’s usually messier than eating a more-tightly-packed Snickers?

What I’m looking forward to…hmm. I heard a rumor the excellent (and truly indulgent) Lion Bar might be on its way overseas from Europe. Considering how many I packed into my backpack when I left Heathrow Airport, I really hope it’s true!

    2. Cinnamon Bears - Perfect combination of chewy and spicy

    3. Medlow Gels - An Australian confection I’m always hard pressed to locate here in the U.S., but I particularly love the mixed berry flavors.

  154. Top Three
    1. Mike and Ike Tangy Twisters ? My new favorite.  I crave them everyday at 2:30 and can?t think about anything else.
    2. Nerd Rope ? Discovered this candy more than 6 years ago and have been evangelizing for it ever since.
    3.  Orbits bubblemint ? it tastes like happiness

Comment by KIM on 9/25/07 at 12:18 pm #
  157. 1. Pear flavored Jelly Belly candies.

    2. Chupa Chups soda-flavored lollipops (not sure that they make them anymore, haven’t seen them in years).

    3. Haribo Grapefruit slices.

(I’d also like to say thank you for introducing me to Hi-Chew, the yuzy and ume flavors are amazing and one of my new favorite candies!)

Comment by Sass on 9/25/07 at 12:36 pm #
  158. Ok, who can resist candy? Certainly not I!

I’m hard pressed to list only 3 favourites. There really are so many that I enjoy, but I will give it a try.

    1. Mars bars - I have to say my all time favourite chocolate bar. I love the texture, the caramel. I could go on, but I won’t.
    2. Kraft Caramels. I haven’t seen them in years. But they have always been a melt in my mouth favourite. Perhaps they do not distribute them in Canada any more?
    3. It’s a tie between Hot Tamales & Cinnamon Hearts - I love the zip of both of them.

Comment by Kathryn on 9/25/07 at 12:39 pm #
  159. 1. Hershey’s used to have a candy bar called Golden III or something like that - it was a “premium” bar so it was thicker and it had toasted coconut and toffee bits. It was heaven and of course, it’s discontinued!

    2. Marathon bar - I still remember the original

    3. It’s hard to pick a third so I’ll go with my current favorite, which is the Reese’s Big Cup.

    Love your site!

Comment by Kate on 9/25/07 at 12:47 pm #
  160. Hmmm…hard to decide. But if I had to choose I’d say:

    1. Chocolate Necco Wafers (yea I know everyone hates these, but I LOVE ‘em!)
    2. Coffee Crisp Bars
    3. Snickers Almond

And I’d be most looking forward to the Chocolate Mix Skittles

Comment by Michael on 9/25/07 at 12:47 pm #
  161. 1)  Snickers
    2)  Twix
    3)  Plain M&Ms;
I would love to try Peppermint Peeps, Rocky Road Peanut Butter and the new M&M flavors.

#1. Cow Tails - I love the soft centers!
#2. Pocky - All flavors, especially the richer dark chocolate ones.
#3. Jelly Bellies - I love lots of the different flavors, but especially the smoothie ones and soda ones!

Candies I’m looking forward to are:
Cocoa Kisses, Peeps tulips, Dark chocolate Reeses and Wild Cherry M&MS;!

    2. these dark chocolate covered dried strawberries from target
    3. new fav-shockers lemon sour goo on top of a dove rich dark chocolate bar!!! (inspired by your reviews and mash-ups!)

I love your blog-its good to know i’m not the only one with an insane love for candy smile

Comment by Andrea on 9/25/07 at 1:55 pm #
  164. Favorite candies!  That would have to be:

    1)  Marshmallow Peeps:  marshmallow with sand on top, it’s mm mmm good.

    2)  Wax bottles.  Why?  Because you can chew on that wax for a while.

    3)  Jelly Belly (non-ghastly flavors).  Dang, they’re good.

I’m really looking forward to the new mint-flavored Peeps.  I’ve been dreaming up weird flavors for Peeps since they introduced the cookie-flavored ones, and new ones are a joy.

Comment by Spoodles on 9/25/07 at 2:24 pm #
  165. 1. Cadbury fruit and nut chocolate bar, my family is from england and we used to get huge ones on the holidays shipped over as presents.
    2. Swedish Fish, love to eat em at the movies.
    3. Tootsie Rolls, I could eat em all day.
Just listened to you on the Munchcast Podcast, you have a sweet beautiful voice Cybele.

  166. 1.  Reese’s Peanut Butter cups
    2.  Trader Joe’s chocolate covered caramels
    3.  See’s chocolates (butter creams and truffles—not the nuts and chews, although they’re good, too!)

I’m looking forward to the licorices…I won’t have to share them with my family!  Also the chewy atomic fireballs.  And the mentos one can’t get here in the U.S.

Comment by Kathy on 9/25/07 at 2:45 pm #

  168. Uno bars were a fav when I was in middle school.  And Zots:  nothing better to get you a sugar high!

I’m really excited about the chewy Fireballs (for my dad), the espresso Twix (for my former roommate), and the Peppermint Peeps (for my former roommate’s mom).  I like to give sweets away.  smile

    Favorite candy:
    Almond M&M’s
    Sour Worms
    Almond Joy

  170. 1. Cadbury Creme Eggs!
    2. Cadbury Caramello!
    3. Reese’s Big Cups!

I really enjoy salty-sweet combinations, the richer the better!  Also, anything with a smooth, thick texture - usually don’t appreciate a crunch, as I feel it distracts from the experience!

Thanks for this blog, I love your images!

Comment by Sarah on 9/25/07 at 4:28 pm #
  171. 1. Take 5s
    2. Those caramel bars that are sold as fundraisers
    3. Snickers

Looking forward to?  Anything dark chocolate!

Comment by Justin on 9/25/07 at 5:28 pm #
  172. Favorites:
    - Lindt’s swiss filled raspberry chocolate
    - Cadbury mini eggs
    - Mother’s frosted animal crackers (definitely more candy than cracker)
    - If crackers don’t count, caramel apple pops.

    (Halloween can’t come any sooner!)

Ooh, I have heard talk of a matcha-and-creme Cremesaver (which would be amazing) but I remain skeptical. The espresso Twix sound heavenly. And how about that new Haagen Dazs flavor? Not quite a candy, but I’m definitely looking forward to trying it!

Gummy Mouse. (Gummy like the Gummy sharks, but with a Gummy Worm tail. smile )

    Cadbury Mini Eggs

    Cotton Candy.

I’d put Snowballs, but I don’t know if those are considered Candy.

The candy I’m most interested in is the chocolate Skittles, those sound interesting.
Or the chewy Lemonheads, one of my favorite candys,
too bad they don’t make chewy Grapheads. smile

  174. Oh my - I will have to say that today I am all about these three
    1) A candy bar from South America Called “Manicho” which was a semi dark chocolate (it was not milk chocolate like we know it in the USA)with peanuts. They are not made anymore, though there is a “replacement” for it.

    2) Chewy Sweetarts

    3) Toblerone

Comment by blair on 9/25/07 at 7:09 pm #
  175. I have a hard time limiting to three.  I usually have the top five-
    1. Cadbury mini eggs
    2. Jelly bellies
    3. Red vines
    4. Good and Plenty
    5. Cotton candy

Candy I am most looking forward to:
Difficult. I usually look forward to any candy!  I would love to see more black licorice around.

  176. 1. Kit Kats are my all time fave, but
they have to be frozen. They tend to
    get melty.

    2. Carnival Skittles…I miss them so.

    3. Red Apple Jelly Bellies…best flavor ever!

You had mentioned something about Green Tea
    Hershey Kisses…I think. I’d try that. I’d
like to see more limited edition Kit Kats.

  177. Favorites:
    - Cookies n Cream Twix (Whatever happened to those?!)
    - Mint Aero (wish they were more readily available in the USA)
    - Watermelon Nerds

    Looking forward to:
    - Wild Cherry/Indy Mint M&Ms;
    - Chewy Atomic Fireballs

    3. Dove Milk Chocolate
    4. Butter Finger
    5. Starburst (the tropical ones)

I am most excited to try the Mike & Ike Lemonstand Version!

  180. 1) Cadbury Mini Eggs - I hoarde enough to last for months after Easter.

    2) Plain M&Ms; - A classic, they never get old.

    3)  Dutch Mints - Round, candy & chocolate covered mints, what could be better?!

I am curious to try the Milky Way Mint and my hubby is very much looking forward to the Dark Chocolate Reeses!

Comment by Stacy on 9/26/07 at 4:55 am #
  181. Three of my favorites are -

    - Peanut M&Ms;
    - The Candy Cane Kisses that Hershey had out last year

    - Take 5

Besides the comeback of the Candy Cane Kisses (and they better be coming back!), I’m interested in the new Andes and the new Indiana Jones Crispy M&M flavors.

  182. All time favs:

#1 (and please don’t hold it against me!) Big Cherry

#2 Cadbury Mini Eggs.  Thank god they only roll around once a year or I would be rolling around all year.

#3 Un-named Reese’s crunchity crispity bar.  Would it kill them to give it a “real” name?

    Can’t waits:
Pop Rocks chocolate bar?!!?  Yes Please!!!

Pineapple Mentos.  The Freshmakers must assume that folks in the US have very traditional, unadventurous palettes.  Why else would they deny us these simple pleasures?

    Junior Mints w/ Candy Canes.

And pretty much every other candy - not including licorice (again, don’t hold it against met).

    Yours in sugar,
    Michelle

  186. I love licorice allsorts—the good kind, not the ones with too many sprinkle-covered jellies.  I also love real English winegums, which are so difficult to find in the U.S. (Yes, I’m an American, born and bred, I’m just strange!)  I’m crazy about Jujubes, too.

I’m looking forward to those chewy Atomic Fireballs.  They sound intriguing.

  187. My Favorite Candy:

    1. Nestle Alpine White with Almonds
    2. Kit Kat
    3. Key Lime Godiva

What I’m looking forward to is all things sour. I am trying to find a candy that will make me pucker. I am a sour fiend and there seems to be nothing out there that is too sour for me.

Comment by Lynn on 9/26/07 at 7:17 am #
  188. 3 favorites:
    Swedish Fish
Butterfinger Easter Eggs (they taste different than the candy bars)
Nestle’s milk chocolate bar before they changed the formula; it just doesn’t taste the same anymore.

I am looking forward to trying the Jr. Mints Deluxe.
    Thanks for the contest.

  189. I’m so fickle about candy - it’s hard to name all-time favorites! But I’ll try.

    1. Swedish fish - particularly the hard-to-find purple ones (do they even still exist? it’s been years since I last saw any), but the red ones as well. I used to buy mixed bags of red and purple at the swimming pool as a kid and I’ve never gotten over my fondness for them.

    2. Spree - the crunchy kind, not the chewy ones. For awhile I couldn’t find these anywhere, but they seem to be pretty easy to find again these days.

    3. I’m having a really hard time picking just one more, but I think I’ll go with Red Vines. I’ve been seriously craving them lately and haven’t gotten around to buying a package.

Candy I’m looking forward to? Even though you didn’t like the chocolate Skittles, I still want to try them. I’m also curious about those java Twix. And I’ve still never seen the grapefruit Mentos anywhere, but I would LOVE to find them someday.

Comment by Jessica on 9/26/07 at 7:53 am #
  190. 1 - Kinder Eggs! - perhaps i only love them cause of the toys… but the chocolate makes me happy too.

2 - Starburst - but only the yellow and orange ones…  yay for citrus!

3 - Milk Dubs - don’t you just love a candy that takes five mins to chew?

I’m really interested in finding the Lemonaide Mike and Ike’s - again - yay for citrus! smile

  191. 1. UnBEARably Hot Cinnamon Bears, that Jelly Belly confectionery makes. The perfect amount of cinnamon and they don’t stick to your teeth the way the giant cinnamon bears do.
    2. Riesen Chocolate Caramels, I always have a bag on hand at work for when I really need a hit of chocolate (and because of the chew, it lasts so much longer!)
    3. Haribo Twin Cherries, such a nice, light cherry flavor, fabulous like almost all Haribo products (I’m also a huge fan of the gummy frogs and the gummy bears)

  192. My All Time Favorite Candy:

    1. Sugar Daddys- I loved these when I was a kid! My Dad would by them for me and say I had to slap it on my tongue. It was hilarious and my Mom could never stop laughing. I dont see them around anymore, just the Sugar Babies..sad.

    2. Atomic Fire Balls- My little brother and I hold competitions to see who could stand the burning the longest.  I also love to get a huge glass of ice and eat them with that, eventhough that is cheating :]. Plus, my dad gets them for free!!!

    3. BubbleYum: Cotten Candy- I dont know if this qualifies as candy, but I eat it as if it was.  I try and make them last, but being bubble yum the flavor dissapears in a flash. So, I just put another one in my mouth the minute it tastes like rubber.

The candy I am was most excited about would have to be the Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Mans Chest White Chocolate. However, that movie is a year old so Im sure it has been discontinued. I wish I saw them when they had come out because I LOVE Pirates of the Carribean!!! I wouldnt have eaten them (well, maybe a few :]). I also find the chewy Atomic Fire Balls interesting, I could have everlasting numbness to my tongue.

I love love love Marich Holland mints, chocolate covered cinnamon bears by Sweets and cream filled red licorice ropes!

    In my candy coated dreams:
I once tasted raspberry m&ms; that were passed out at a parade. I savored every little chocolate morsel and have been watching the candy shelves for their debut ever since!

  197. 1. Hot Tamales

    2. Skittles (regular)

    3. Snickers Almond

As for what I’m looking forward to… I just recently found the Elvis Reese’s, the Reese’s Whipp, and the chocolate&peanut; butter Reese’s Pieces.  So I think I need to find some new candies to look for.

  200. Only 3 favorites?!  It’s like Sophie’s Choice all over again…well, here goes:

    1.  Sour Patch Kids - I love almost all sour candies, but the combination of chewy and sour is something I can’t resist.  Not only will I eat these until stomach cramps force me to stop, but I’ll also eat all the sour crystals left at the bottom of the bag.  If Sour Patch Kids aren’t available, Twizzlers or Swedish Fish are acceptable stand-ins.

    2.  Pocket Coffee - Got them at a supermarket in Rome a few years ago and carefully rationed them out for as long as I could stand it.  My first mistake was sharing half my stash with my dad and, because he doesn’t have nearly the willpower I do when it comes to chocolate, he tried to hit me up for more.  I haven’t seen them in any visit to Italy since then (are they seasonal?), but recently tried the Trader’s Joe version.

    3.  Mallo Cups - I grew up in Altoona, PA - where the Boyer Candy Factory is located - and always took these little gems for granted.  That is until I moved away and couldn’t find them.  In fact, when I lived in Jacksonville, FL, a co-worker who grew up in NY State (near the PA border) told me that she used to stop at the corner store on her way home from school every day for a sneaky Mallo Cup treat.

The products I’m looking forward to are the Chewy Lemonheads and the Ferrara Nougats.  My dad used to bring home boxes of Torrone when I was little and I haven’t had it since then.  I don’t remember the brand he bought but each piece was packaged in its own tiny box - like a yummy little gift!
