I tried a few samples of the Sencha Green Tea Mints, and thought they were pretty nice. Green tea and mint seems kind of a weird combo, but I like it. (And my favorite tea is Tazo Zen…go figure) I didn’t like them enough to want to spend $4 a tin for them, though.
Today at Trader Joe’s I was excited to see Trader Joe’s Green Tea Mints, which were only $2. The TJ’s mints aren’t as beautiful as the Sencha Natural’s ones, but they are still very cute and leaf shaped. They are actually a little rounder, and more comfortable to suck on than the Sencha Natural’s mints. The flavor is almost identical. The main difference is that these mints are sweetened with cane sugar and honey granules rather than xylitol and sorbitol. I don’t know if that makes them more or less healthy. Depends on your feelings about xylitol.
I don’t think green tea mints are my favorite things in the world, but they’re a fun change from regular peppermints. They also claim to have the health benefits of green tea, so I guess that’s a good thing.
