I found your site because I am seeking reviews of chocolate gelt. I’m the owner of ModernTribe.com, a Judaica and Jewish gifts catalog. We created a game called No Limit Texas Dreidel that combines dreidel with poker—it requires betting with chocolate gelt of course! Do you have any recommendations on gelt brands? You sure do know your candy!
Jennie - I got these at Cost Plus World Market back around the holidays in 2005. I don’t recall the brand name on them, but I also noticed that they were NOT marked Kosher. (They really weren’t that tasty.)
If you want some good quality foil wrapped novelty candies try Madelaine’s or Wilbur ... I’m pretty sure the former is Kosher. The ones sold at Trader Joe’s are also pretty good (but only seasonal).
Never ever buy chocolate coins that you plan to eat at the 99 Cent Only Store!
Meticulously photographed and documented reviews of candy from around the world. And the occasional other sweet adventures. Open your mouth, expand your mind.
