  1. 1- Jujyfruits.  The kind where the green ones were mint, not lime.  Lime candies taste like dish soap to me.

2- Carambars!  I had them for the first time when we had a French exchange student (whom I later visited).  They taste like France to me.

3- Cadbury Crunchie bars.  I think it is so cool that you can buy candy while you’re waiting for the subway in London.

Candy that I’m most looking forward to?  Does it have to be from the All Candy Expo?  because I’ve really been meaning to get my hands on some grapefruit mentos, and that is probably the candy I’m anticipating the most right now.  But from the expo, I’m super excited about the dark chocolate Reese’s making a comeback. The licorice caramels also sound YUMMY, though I couldn’t tell from your post whether or not it’s something I’ll be able to find.

  2. Milky Way Midnight (Frozen because I can make it last over an hour)

Reese’s PB Eggs (Frozen or Room Temp. Heck, I’ll eat ‘em melted as long as I’m not wearing white)

And my upscale fave—Harry and David truffles in any flavor.

As you can probably tell, I look forward to any new chocolate (not mockolate) item, especially the dark chocolate peanut butter cup (hope they do an egg version).  However, the chewy Atomic Fireballs sound good, too.

  3. This is my first post here, but I have been a long time reader of your blog, thanks for the wonderful reviews!

My favorite all time candies are:

    1) Almost anything Cadbury, oh wow, yum to the nth degree!  I still have some Creme Eggs and 3 large bags of Mini Eggs from Easter, lol!

    2) Tootsie Rolls, these are really good when they are super fresh!

    3) Sugar Daddies, when I was younger, our school went on a class trip to Williamsburg Va..and there is a candy shop there that actually sold the biggest Sugar Daddy I have ever seen!  I bought one and it lasted at least a few weeks, from what I remember!  I never saw anything like it again.

Hmmm…what products am I looking forward to?  New Cadbury anything, lol!  It seems there really isn’t the ‘next big thing’ that really stands out to me yet, but there are a lot of interesting products to try, how cool of you to get out to the Expo and see these, even if they are not offered in the US!

  4. (1) Heath bars. Love live burnt sugar married with chocolate

    (2) Lik ‘em sticks. Actually this is my daughter’s favorite.

    (3) Kit kat bars

  5. Also a longtime reader/lurker.  Love the site.

1-Tootsie roles; I live in chicago and can get them fresh, yay.

2-Halvah; dear god is it hard to find good halvah, several attempts to make it have been disasstrous.

3-Starburst; sitting in the back of a warm car and mushing them together to get franken-bursts is always fun.

I’ve seen the ‘frootsies’ in stores, but have yet to try them.  They look promising, though I don’t recall ever being impressed by any non-chocolate tootsie roll.  And I’ve been keeping an eye out for the Java Twix, they sound good.

  6. 1) Atomic fireballs.

    2) Runts—But only the banana ones. Apparently this makes me a bit of a weirdo?

    3) Goetze’s caramel creams/cow tails! I like to pop a cream in my mouth and immediately throw some salted sunflower seeds in there. Fantastic.

I am also pretty excited over the chewy atomic fireballs, but wouldn’t it destroy the novelty of the burn fading to sweet? Aaah!

  7. My three favorites of all time would have to be:

    1. Cadbury Violet Crumble Bar….they’re so so good!

    2. Riesens Chocolate Caramels….I love dark chocolate and these are just chewy and simple and so good to me.

    3. Esther Price Caramel Bars….I am from Ohio and I’m not sure if you have heard of Esther Price but it is a small chocolate company that has been around for quite a while.  All recipes are original to when Esther Price actually started the small company.  You should definitely try some of their stuff if you ever get the chance.  It’s definitely worth it.

The candies that I’m most looking forward to are definitely the chewy lemon heads and fireballs.  I feel like these are such classic hard candies and I can’t wait to try them in “chewy” form.  Also I’m a sucker for the dark chocolate reeses.  I feel like everything is better in dark chocolate…except the dark Snickers…I really wasn’t too fond of that.  I love all of your reviews!

  8. 1-Now and Later
    2-Sour Patch Kids
    3-Starburst Jelly beans

    (I’m a fruity chewy fiend)

Of the mix you are shipping out I would be most excited to try all things lemon- Mike and Ike lemonade stand mix and chewy lemonheads. Oh!  chewy atomic fireballs sound yummy too.

  9. 1. Ginger-covered chocolate
    2. Toffifay
    3. pumpkin truffles

I’m not really sure what I’m looking forward to in the candy world.  I guess I’d like to try the Three Musketeers vanilla, strawberry, mocha variety.  I’m looking forward to trying the Skittles chocolate with my girls too. Do they taste like tootsie rolls (good) or like chocolate lip balm (very bad)?

Comment by April on 9/22/07 at 6:21 am #
  10. 1. Butterfinger Crisp - I’m a candy disassembler - I love to nibble of the chocolate, then peel back a single wafer with a layer of the peanuty cream on it.

    2. 3 Musketeers, before they were re-formulated in the 80’s or so. These used to be really yummy, but ever since they changed the recipe back then, there’s a layer of pure “sweet” on top of the malty, creamy goodness. Just tried one a couple of weeks ago, but it’s still the same.

    3. Smores. Creamy, a little chewy, just plain yummy.

I’m really looking forward to those Andes Candies Dessert Indulgences, they sound delicious. I’d say Reese’s Whipps, but I’ve already tried them (found at a local Walmart), and will be reviewing them on my own blog soon. (Sneak preview - I liked them!)

  11. 1- mars bar easter eggs although I havent seen them in a few years :(

    2-Cow Tails…. so yummy

3-Super Nibs - something about the red chewy licorice has me addicted.

The chocolate mix skittles sound amazing I would love to try them…. I’m also excited about any new Jelly Belly beans!

  12. #1. ghirardelli dark bar with orange; perfect combo of flavors!
    #2. bit-o-honeys
#3. skor bar (i live near hershey)
honorable mention for the original razzles
    (from the 1970’s)

i would founder myself on grapefruit mentos if they were easily accessible!  maybe it’s better for me that i can’t get them at the corner store!

  13. oops!  i didn’t read the instructions too well…

  14. Love your site and your reviews…
3 favorite candies of all time….

1:The Whatchamacallit - without the caramel…My opinion they ruined it by adding caramel

2:CurlyWurly….I love this so much and they are very hard to find in the US but we just had a British store open and they had them there…YUM!

3:Ferrero Rondhoir/Ferrero Rocher…These are divine to me…I lived in Italy for 3 years and was addicted to the Rocher ones…Makes me want to eat one now :o)

Looking forward to trying the Chewy Fireballs and the Andes Candies Dessert Indulgences!

  15. My favorite candy is Junior Mints. I just love how they melt on my tongue. I can never get enough of them.

Second favorite is gummy grapefruits. I know they are terribly stale in the candy stores, but the mixture of sweet and sour and chewy is just spot on.

My third favorite is Malteasers. The centers are soft and just melt in your mouth and the chocolate is smooth and really creamy.

Being that Junior Mints are my favorite, the Deluxe ones sound really really good! After that I’d really like the Mike and Ikes. So good!

Comment by Jen on 9/22/07 at 6:38 am #
  16. Only three?

    #1 Snickers - it’s my go-to candybar.
    #2 See’s Assortment Box - There’s just nothing finer.
#3 Pates de Fruit - I’ve never had a bad one.

I am looking forward to finding those nougats you’ve been talking about.  I love, love nougat (it’s #4) and am looking forward to finding some new ones.

  18. Hi! My top candies of all time:

    1. Green & Black vanilla white chocolate—the only white chocolate I’ve ever enjoyed, this is absolutely delicious!

    2. Take 5 (the classic one only)—love the mix of salty pretzels with chocolate, caramel, and pb…though then they had to go messing with it and adding a zillion weird variations, which i didn’t much care for (especially the weird fake peanut-butter-coated one.

    3. Jelly Belly Tropical Mix—I love jelly bellies, but hate having to deal with picking out the ones I dislike…this is a great mix for me because everything is fruit-flavored and I don’t have to pick out the buttered popcorn and peanut butter flavored one.

Of what you’re shipping, I’d be most excited to try the new Mike & Ike, as well as the Tic Tac bold.  Generally, I’ve been keeping my eye out for the various pineapple gummies you always post about, as I always enjoy those most in any bag of gummy bears.

Comment by Sara Chatfield on 9/22/07 at 6:55 am #
  19. 1. kookaburra licorice (red and black)
    2. pomegranate jelly beans
    3. elvis reese’s smile

I can’t wait for the dark chocolate reese’s! I’ve been wanting to try them FOREVER. And the candy cane peeps and candy corn kisses. Mmmmm now I need some candy

Comment by Kayla on 9/22/07 at 6:59 am #
  20. 1. Nutrageous
    2. MooseMunch Bar
    3. Butterfinger

Right now I’m most looking forward to this new Batman peanut butter cup you speak of.

Comment by Chris on 9/22/07 at 7:08 am #
  21. 1) Tropical Skittles. It’s like a trip to Florida in my mouth.
    2) Sherbet Fountains. I love these. I wish they were easier to get in the US. The fizzy sherbet and the great licorice makes it a perfect candy.
    3) Fundip. Messy as it is, the little sugar stick in the packs of three and up is the best part, and the powder is like a pixie stick X100!

I look forward to the chocolate skittles, because I am a huuuge skittles fan. I like anything sour and tangy, so most of what you’re sending out sounds awesome. I like things that aren’t bland or plain. The Lemonade Stand Mix and the Chewy Fireballs look like they could be some new favorites.

Comment by Marissa Altmann on 9/22/07 at 7:13 am #
  22. Candy candy Candy!

My all time favs would be:

#1 Milky Way Midnight- Like heaven in a wrapper.

#2 Marathon Bar - Oh how I miss this one!
Cadbury makes a bar called Curly Wurly which seems to be nearly identical. Sadly, it’s not available here in the US.

#3 Skittles. Especially the tropical flavors, Yum!

We often get Koppers in the store I work in so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the new flavors. I love most things caramel and/or dark chocolate but I also go for the smaller chewy candy items such as Mike and Ikes, Chocolate Mix Skittles and any Ferraro Pan flavors. Oh and I can’t forget Jelly Belly and Junior Mint Deluxe.
So I guess I’m looking forward to probably all of it! Man, my dentist would have a fit.

Comment by Allegra on 9/22/07 at 7:14 am #
  23. I love anything sour, but my favorite are Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers

I also enjoy licorice (black only, since I too can taste food coloring), specifically the plain licorice pieces in Bassett’s Licorice All-Sorts.

I also really love crunch raspberries and blackberries from Jelly Belly.

Of the new candy you discovered, I am looking most forward to chewy lemonheads and atomic fireballs!

Comment by Miss Hass on 9/22/07 at 7:15 am #
  24. Take 5 - the perfect combo of salty and sweet and the ideal PMS food

Gummy Grapefruit - tangy and chewy, yum

Thornton’s Viennese truffles (from the UK).  I has much love for Thornton’s which are not very well known here.

Looking forward to trying the licorice caramels and chewy lemonheads!

Comment by Marianne on 9/22/07 at 7:16 am #
  25. 1: Sour Patch Kids.  Sometimes the SP fruit, but mostly the Kids—and not these new Extreme ones that just came out, which I’m disappointed in.

2: Dolfin’s Earl Grey bar.  Wow.  Most “chocolate with weird bits in it” just has a novelty appeal for me, a change of pace, but this and the Lemon-Pepper bar you just posted about could replace unflavored chocolate in my intake and I would be perfectly happy with it.

3: Godiva’s Passion Fruit truffle.  It wasn’t called that, I forget the name—it was part of a limited edition collection that is no longer offered, but my God was it good.  I’m not as big a fan of Godiva’s as I used to be—I think the rest of the chocolate world has passed them by—but when they do tart fillings like this and the key lime truffle, everything just sings.  Happily, I was living near a Godiva’s when this truffle was out, so I had a half dozen or so.

What I’m looking forward to: all the licorice you’ve mentioned (Liquorice Altoids would be my #5 or 6 top candy, I like good strong licorice flavors), and the onset of consistently cool weather so I can order some Vosges chocolates.

Comment by Bill on 9/22/07 at 7:17 am #
  26. 1. Snickers - all time favorite! Even as a child, I’d trade all my other candy for Snickers during Halloween.
    2. Mr. Goodbar
    3. Reese’s PB Cups

What can I say, I just love peanuts and chocolate! smile

I’m most looking forward to the chocolate Skittles. It sounds the most interesting since it’s so different from the Skittles we’re used to eating here.

Comment by Liz on 9/22/07 at 7:26 am #
  27. 1)Mallow Cups
    2)Reese Nut Rageous
3)The blue pastiles things that come in Licorish All Sorts

Both Mallow Cups, and Reese Nut Rageous are particualrly my favorites becasue I currently live in Canada and can’t get either of them easliy.

I’m looking forward to junior mints deluxe… they are so good already, what could possibly make them better?

Comment by Rose on 9/22/07 at 7:28 am #
  28. 1. Dark chocolate turtles from the Confectionary in Seattle. Whimper…

    2. Hot Tamales. Cinnamon, chewy, evocative of paying no attention to the game when I went to sporting events with my Dad as a child, but focusing entirely on the candy at hand.

    3. Butterscotch hard candies: the cheap, yummy ones that come in individual translucent yellow plastic wrappers.

Of course, almost anything caramelly, cinnamony, or dark chocolate-y makes me happy.

Comment by Kathy on 9/22/07 at 7:29 am #
  29. I refuse to be held to this list for posterity, since there are just so many contenders…

    1. Take 5.  For me, the perfect combination of all my favorite things.

    2. Anything See’s, but particularly the Scotchmallow.  Mmm.

    3. This is a toss-up between Heath bars and Green and Black’s white chocolate.  I think I’ll pick the latter just because it’s a bigger bar, and more to love.

In the new releases, I’m really looking forward to the Twix Java and Reese’s Whipps.  Yum, nougat…

Comment by Katie on 9/22/07 at 7:40 am #
  30. Only 3 favorite candies? Arrrgh… so much choice…

    1) Reese’s peanut butter cups. Best chocolate bar ever. I’m not so crazy about all their limited editions, though, I’m more of a Reese purist. Oh, and I’m going to cheat by adding another peanut butter-chocolate candy: Peanut-Butter M&Ms;. Yummy.

    2) The little Cadbury pastel chocolate-filled eggs they sell at Easter. So generic, so chemical, yet so tasty and addictive.

    3) Hershey’s kisses. A strong, sweet chocolate that tastes delicious. Simple, yet efficient.

The candy I’m most looking forward to is the Green Tea Kisses. I don’t expect it to be very good, but I’m very intrigued by it. Other not-quite-new candies also leave me in awe; As a Canadian, I’m still in search of a Valomilk, dammit! Impossible to find here North of the border. And I’d be very curious to taste all those wacky Kit Kat japanese flavors. Strawberry Shorcake? Wine? Pomegrenate? Hmm…

Comment by Patrick on 9/22/07 at 7:44 am #
  31. Oh gosh, let’s see, my three favorite candies would have to be:

    1) Fifth Avenue. I haven’t eaten one in years but at one point I ate them at *least* once a day for months at a time.

    2) Mars Bar - the *old* Mars that had whole almonds on the top of it.

    3) Bar None - I had completely forgotten about this candy bar until I started reading the candy blogs and now I hope hope hope they’ll bring it back, it was one of the best bars in my memory!

As you can see, I love chocolate, and I’m really looking forward to trying the pop rocks chocolate bar. I can’t imagine wanting to eat it regularly, but for a novelty I can’t wait. I’m also looking forward to the “whipped” or “air” chocolate if it ever makes its way to my area (sorry can’t remember the names of the bars)

Comment by Carol on 9/22/07 at 7:51 am #
  32. 1) Take 5. I was addicted to these for a while, bought em in bulk.
    2) Lion Bars from europe. Every delicious candy ever smashed into one.
    3) I’ve always enjoyed the idea of toys in candy, but kinder eggs never impressed me. I just remember one time in Spain, I got a plastic egg where one half had the toy, and the other half had this delicious chunk of white and milk chocolate with crunchy hazelnut balls floating in the middle. I never found them again. Still haven’t.

I’m really looking forward to the Dark Chocolate Reese’s—I’ve always loved reese’s and I never got to try these when they existed.

  33. Three fav candies:

    Now & Laters (nowlaters)ha.
    Laffy Taffy
    Nerds

can’t really say there is any candy i’m looking forward to. when i see new things in the store i sometimes just try them.

  34. Three faves?  Hmmm.  Hard to choose.  I love Hot Tamales, M&M’s, and Shockers (formerly called Shock Tarts).

I never had any idea that there were so many companies that made candies similar to M&M’s.  Now I’m dying to try the Koppers and the Smarties too and have my own little comparison test.  The colors are beautiful too.  I always love a pretty candy.  I cannot wait to try the coffee Twix.  I love coffee candy and your review sounds promising.  I also can’t wait to try the chewy lemonheads and atomic fireballs.  I love anything sour—and the more sour, the better.  I also love anything super hot and spicy.  So I am actually looking forward to trying some of those new ginger candies and the ones infused with chili.  The different flavored KitKats look great.  I so wish we could try the strawberry and green tea versions.  You’ve gotten me so curious about candy from around the world and candy I have never considered trying.  You’ve really done a fabulous job introducing me to entirely new treats!  I want to travel the world tasting candy!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Amy on 9/22/07 at 7:56 am #
  35. 1- Hershey’s Cherry Cordial Kisses. Yes, these are limited edition but I used to hate cherry anything and now it is really growing on me. I bought two bags because I was afraid it would stop production too fast.

2- Baby Ruth. This is just a really good candy; meaty, chewy, sweet, and salty enough for my liking. Also, it’s a nice break from eating chocolate because I think I eat rather too much.

3- There is this place in Pasadena called Leonidas Chocolate (or so I assume from my recollection). The chocolate is 100% real and simply delicious. Dark as you’d ever want! Dark is amazing.

I really am just looking forward to more cherry fused products (real cherry, not medicinal flavor)and dark chocolate versions.

  36. Wow, how to pick only three???

    1. Twix bars—the classic candy of my childhood!

    2. Buncha Crunch—for when I see movies in the big multiplex.

    3. That Vosges bar with the nibs. One square of this a day gives me something to look forward to at my crappy job.

I’m looking forward to more of the flavored m&ms;.

  37. Favorite ever?...hmmm…way too hard to even try to narrow it down.

Favorite right now? any dark chocolate with red/pink peppercorn in it. Or chilies. Or ginger. The Dagoba xocolatl is my current main love.

Looking forward to: trying Vosges chocolates soon (particularly the Red Fire, or the Naga)

  38. 1. valomilk! shame i no longer live some place where i can get them….

    2. kraft caramels. they always make me think of my grandma and being a kid. though cowtails are a closely related second.

    3. crybabies. just for the masochism factor

as for new things, definitely the chocolate skittles and the lemonade stand mix.

  39. 1) Jelly Bellies.  Any flavor but licorice….not a licorice fan at all.
    2) Russell Stover Chocolate-Covered Marshmallow Turkeys.  Childhood memory.  smile
    3) Salted caramels from Fran’s Chocolates in Seattle.

I’m looking forward to the Pop Rocks chocolate bar, the coffee Twix and the BatReeses, because I’m just geeky enough to dig that.  smile

  44. I’ve been trying to control my candy urges lately, so I haven’t had much lately, but my all-time candy favorites are:

1:  Chuckles - I don’t know why I like these so much, but I do.  I like both the ones rolled in sugar (in the 5-pack) as well as the chuckles ju-jubes sold in bags)

2:  Valentine Hearts (Must be FRESH and must be Brach’s Large Conversation Hearts)  All others are stale and hard.  I love how they melt in your mouth and are almost spongy…

3: Anything Chocolate-Mint…  I think Frango-Mints would be my all-time favorite but those are hard to come by…

Comment by Rassi on 9/22/07 at 9:09 am #
  45. 1.  Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar.  The English version.  Not the drecky   US/Hersheys Cadbury.

    2.  Wax candy.  Any of them.  Teeth, pop bottles, any form.

    3.  Candy cigarettes.  The kind where you can puff out “smoke” and the gum tastes like Pepto-Bismol.  Yum.

Looking foward to the return of Kit Kat Darks.  So delicious.

Comment by Mary on 9/22/07 at 9:20 am #
  46. Ooh.  Tough call.

    1.  Gummi frogs.  Used to go to Cost Plus and get half a pound and work my way through them while studying for AP tests in high school.  Cost Plus doesn’t have the candy counter anymore but at least you can buy them in tubs, or grab the prepackaged Haribo bag (depending on which feels fresher).

    2.  Cadbury Mini Eggs.  Love the vanilla note in the shell.  We go through a lot of these at work around Easter…

    3.  See’s California Brittle.  Chocolate covered toasted almond toffee = EVIL.  I do wish the pieces were a little bit thinner for biting into, though.

  51. I LOVE candy, so it’s hard to pick just three!

    1. York Peppermint Pattie-the big one. It’s often my breakfast.

    2. Cadbury Creme Egg-yum, yum, yum.

    3. Candy corn-I’ll throw in the seasonal one.

I rarely turn away a candy, unless it has coconut in it. I was intrigued to read about the green tea Hershey Kisses and would definitely try those if they come to America. As the comment above asked…any idea where to get the Elvis Reese’s cups? I had one that bought at a 7-11 in North Hollywood, around the anniversary of his death, but they haven’t had them since.

    2.  Wonka’s Fizzy Bottle Caps

    3.  Bittersweet Chocolate bars made in Munich, Germany

Honorable Mentions:  Nestle Quik Bites and Bars, gummy cinnamon lips, the old style Trolli large gummy hamburgers that came in the little square plastic container

    2. Reese’s Crispy Crunchy Bar.  I picked one of these up a couple months ago, and its replaced Reese’s Cups on my list.

    3. Cadbury/Hershey mini-eggs.  I like to stock up on these for Easter.

I’m looking forward to Dark Chocolate Reese’s Cups and Coffee Twix.  It’s fun reading everyone’s favorite things.  There’s quite a few intriguing things that I’ve never heard of!

  62. I’ve been a long time fan, but this is my first comment.
    Favorites are as follows:
    1.  Junior Mints.  They’ve been my movie candy since I was four years old.
    2.  Cadbury Crunchie bars.  I first found them when I studied abroad for school.  I love to take small bites and let them dissolve on my tongue.
    3.  Jelly Bellies.  I never get tired of trying new flavors (though I will never abandon my old standards).

I’m most looking forward to trying the Lindt Truffle Cake chocolate bar.  I liked the Lemon Tart and Creme Brulee versions.

  64. Three favorites of all time:
    - Anything made with “good” chocolate: something like Dove Promises, those extra creamy Hershey’s Nuggets with toffee and almonds, or anything from Ghirardelli.
    - Hershey’s Cookies and Cream nuggets. Why did they stop making these? I loved them so much.
    - Chocolate covered pretzels. They’re the perfect PMS food, as they are crunchy, salty, sweet, and chocolate, all at once. (Klondike started making Caramel Pretzel Klondike bars, which adds the extra dimension of ice cream to it.)
Runner-up: any kind of Milky Way (regular or Midnight, whichever). Mmm.

What I’m most looking forward to: strangely enough, those Halls ginger lozenges. I get horribly motion sick, and I also hate cough drops. That, or the new kinds of Andes Mints. I like the regular ones and I’d be very excited to try new flavors of them.

Comment by Mary on 9/22/07 at 11:07 am #
  65. 1. Limited Edition KitKat Bars - I can’t name a specific one I’ve had (Azuki bean variety from Hong Kong ranks pretty high, but so does the normal Dark Chocolate one), but it’s the hunt for those overseas and limited edition flavours that I’m addicted to.
    2. Malteasers - makes me SO happy to be living in Canada
    3. Twix - the cookie crunch and the sticky caramel makes it so yummy that I believe whoever thought of spliting it into 2 sticks is a genius since you definitely want the 2 hits!

Comment by Janet on 9/22/07 at 11:12 am #
  66. Wow, to pick three favorites, well that is tough.
    1. An old candy bar called Ovaltine
    2. Nouget, the kind with whole toasted almonds, my mom used to buy us nouget every Christmas.  Now I order it from a bakery in Boston—-ModernPastry.com.
    3. Most candy with a chocolate/peanut butter combo

I am looking forward to trying anything new, I really like chocolate with red pepper in it, or really anything with chocolate.

  67. 1. Junior Mints - especially when they’re fresh and flowy

    2. York Peppermint Patties

    3. Really strong salty black licorice

I love trying all kinds of new stuff, so really everything!

Comment by Jessie on 9/22/07 at 11:32 am #
  68. 1.  Meiji gummies—always just the right kind of chewy, with plenty of flavor.

    2.  Toffee—the hard-crack kind that you smash up before you eat.  Preferably heavily laden with nuts.

    3.  M&Ms;.  No, this isn’t because I don’t understand that there are a million superior candies in the world but because M&Ms; are the only candies I can actually keep in my house as a desperation stash and not dip into before I reach bottom.  At the same time, they are indeed good enough to satisfy my sudden-onset cravings usually.

Looking forward to…Java Twix, and I really want to try some of those damnably delicious sounding Chocopods.  These chocolate skittles also sound intriguing.

  73. 3 favorite candies, that’s a good question.

1.) Take 5 candy bar, it’s got all of my favorite things, chocolate, peanut butter, pretzels, caramel and milk chocolate. Who wouldn’t love that?

2.) Charleston chew but it has to be taken from a freezer and slammed against the counter top into little hard ice cold shards. My brother introduced me to it that way and it’s still the best way to have it.

3.) Lindt milk chocolate bar. It’s so creamy and delicious, there’s really no way to describe it. It has a fantastically smooth texture and isn’t too over the top sweet. A couple of pieces can satisfy the strongest sweet tooth.

I’m actually looking forward to the Junior Mint deluxe. I’ve always loved Junior mints and I’d love to try to product. Another one is the chewy atomic fireballs and lemonheads. My parents own an arcade when we were younger and we always had these for sale. I could never finish them because they were so big and took so long to eat. I’d love to try them in a small, chewable form, mmm.

2)Hi-chew- the flavor gets better as you chew!
    3)Skittles- again, a classic.

I still haven’t tried the Twix PB bars even though they’ve been out for a little while now. Here I come!

  76. Gosh. Of all time? I have to do two lists, fruity and chocolate (the fruity list as a whole may just pip the chocolate list overall, but it’s too close to really say).

    Fruity
    1. Chewy Spree.
I am actually incapable of not eating these as fast as I can get them out of the package.

    2. Giant Smarties.
The ones with the diameter of quarters. I have bought full display boxes of these, more than once, at retail prices.

    3. Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles.
This goes all the way back to being small and having a grandmother who always kept a tube in her bag, doling out individual pastilles over the course of a day at intervals that can only be described as far too wide.

    Chocolate
    1. Munchies.
An English candy, like Rolos except square and with a little cookie at the bottom. Each one is a perfect piece, like the first bite from the end of a Twix bar.

    2. Zero bars.
These score high for oddity value. Who makes a white-chocolate coated candy bar, really?

    3. Reese’s miniature cups.
The big ones are similarly delicious, but are slightly too large for one bite and so I always get chocolate on my fingers holding on to the second half. The miniatures approach perfection.

For the future, I am excited beyond the capacity of my mind to contemplate for more than a few minutes at a time to try Berry Mix Chewy Spree (see above). The Mike and Ike Lemonade Stand Mix also sounds really good, and I am warily curious about the Chocolate Mix Skittles (so many mixes!), having tried and not been terribly impressed with the ice cream flavors.

Comment by Derek on 9/22/07 at 12:29 pm #
  77. I like strong dark chocolates of many kinds (especially Rapunzel and Scharffen Berger, but the Cluizel 99% dark truffle sounded dreamy). To me that’s a separate class of luxury item from “candy,” so I won’t talk about those.

    1) Hippie fig newtons. It has to be the hippie kind because they have this crumbly, sweet whole grain shell that’s massively superior to the industrial kind. They sell them in bulk bins, where the wholegrainedness of the shell causes it to crumble and sometimes you can score a whole broken-off sheet without the fruit, which makes it even better!

    2) Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. I actually really like grass, pepper, and sardine. And vomit really did make me want to reflexively spit it out, which not many things can do. I like it—it shows that Jelly Belly took its charge very seriously.

    3) York Peppermint Patties. Largely because I like the mix of crisp and mushy in the filling, and because the chocolate seems decent.

I can say that I don’t look forward to a chewy atomic fireball, because for me the whole point is that it’s a real feat of endurance when you can wait for one of the jawbreakers to dissolve without seeking relief from the burn. Junior Mints Deluxe sound great, though! I’m guiltily fond of Reese’s peanut butter cups, so the dark chocolate version sounds like it’ll be worth a try too.

  78. 1. would have to be the organic sour jelly bears by sweet botanicals from artisansweets.com

    2. After eights - cause really those are just too heavenly to pass up… except the bar has dairy in it which kinda disturbs me…

    3. tropical source chocolate… the dark chocolate raspberry one is the yummiest ever…

i would be looking for anything organic or vegan since i don’t eat artificial flavors or colors or dairy or eggs or gelatin… the reason i love to read about them… haha

  79. Ooh, I haven’t been here in a while, and I happen upon a contest.  YAY!  The questions are too hard, though!  I only get to pick THREE candies?  And as much as I love candy and sugar in general, my experience isn’t quite as comprehensive as yours. (pause) Hm… let me see… I prefer dark chocolate in general, but my favorite candy bar would have to be Snickers (followed closely by 100 Grand).  Let me pick something from the gummi category - probably wine gums or sour patch kids (I used to LOVE mexican hats, but I don’t think they’re made anymore.  And… lastly… arrrgh, to hard to narrow it down!  And reading everyone else’s comments is giving me ideas!  Okay, one more: dark chocolate cordial cherries or assorted truffles.

Looking forward to the chocolate mix skittles and other favorites!

  81. My three favorite candies of all time: Junior Mints, Cadbury milk chocolate anything, and any Lake Champlain chocolate bar…  Can you tell I love chocolate?

I am most looking forward to the peppermint crunch Junior Mints you mentioned will be here for the holidays.  I also love trying eggnog flavored candies around the holidays, so I’m hoping to stumble across a good eggnog-chocolate concoction!

    Thanks for the contest!

(P.S. I just found apply candy coated Sugar Babies at 7/11.  Not too shabby, although a bit too much apple and not enough caramel for my taste.)

  87. wow!  lots of people already replying!  hmmm… my 3 favorite candies of all time…  only 3?  oh boy…

1- maison du chocolat orangettes… perfect, absolutely perfect.  they have mastered the art of pairing dark chocolate with candied orange peel.

3- milk chocolate cadbury mini eggs.  enough said on that one, really.

as you might conclude from my list of candy faves, i’m looking forward to any new good chocolate.  pop rocks in chocolate sounds really interesting.  i’m also wondering about green tea kisses.  totally unrelated, but matcha and chocolate make an nice pair, why are there not more matcha and chocolate candies around here?  and i’m always curious about candies with lavender and pomegranate.  and honey.  all with or without chocolate.

*Baby Ruth* - I just love the chewy center and the peanuts.

*Goelitz Chocolate Jordan Almonds* - the best of the choco/candy/almonds, but so hard to find.

I also love: Sees, Amano chocolate, Coco Delice, Coco-luxe, Poco Dolce, Theo, and more.

  91. Favorite candies:

    1. Reese cups. I love peanut butter. In fact, Reese cups fit into my theory that since peanut butter is good for you, anything with peanut butter in it is good for you. Therefore, Reese cups are health food!

    2. Cinnamon Jolly Ranchers. I love them. They’re spicy and taste good when nothing else does.

    3. Toostie Rolls.  It’s like chocolate chewing gum.

    Looking forward to:

    1. Chewy fireballs. Those sound like my favorite jelly beans, Red Cinnamon.

    2. Chewy Lemonheads. I love tart flavors to wake me up in the morning.

    3. Kompeito. Traditional Japanese candy.  It was shown in “Spirited Away”.

  99. Hmmmm, so hard to pick just three (as someone else here said)!  My favorite candies, in no particular order:

    * Pontefract cakes, especially when they are fresh… so chewy and delicious!

    * Toffifay- always reminds me of being about 12 years old, when my neighbor from Germany brought me a big box (all for me!) after a visit back home.  It was love at first bite.

    * Sky Bar.  It’s like a sampler of all things yummy, all in one handy bar.  I always have to save my favorite flavor for last (peanut).

I would look forward most to trying the chewy Lemonheads and the Junior Mints Deluxe.  Those are both candies I really enjoy in their original form, so I’d love to try the new versions of them.

  100. My very favorite of all time is the see’s orange and chocolate wafers, I’ll be ordering them in a few days, as soon as see’s starts selling them.  I always spend way too much and run out before Halloween.  It’s like they put crack in them.  Also their awesome nut and chew bar and cella’s chocolate cherries.  I’m looking forward to the junior mints, they sound good.

Comment by tiff on 9/22/07 at 3:20 pm #
  101. 1. Choxie chocolates from Target.  I love the truffles the best.
    2. Twix - I have to eat everything off the cookie and save it for last
    3. Cherry kit kats - so far only seen around Valentine’s day, my friends bring me bags of the minis.  I still have one that I’m saving for a rainy day.

I am most looking forward to almost any new product.  Whenever I see a review for something new, I search high and low til I find it.  I’ve even got my kids keeping their eyes peeled for new things.  This board is great for me.  I am a serious candy junkie, but oddly enough I mostly hoard it.  I try new stuff but often for me the joy is in the finding and the having.  (Can you tell I wasn’t allowed candy as a kid?  I was allergic to corn syrup!)  Don’t worry though, if I did win the box of yummy treats, they wouldn’t just be stashed away!

    1.  Cadbury Mini Eggs—I can (and do ) eat my weight in these little suckers every year.  I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t grouse about how early they put out easter candy, since I’m so happy to buy these in January.

    2.  Smarties (american version)—I only buy these once a year, near Halloween, then I hope that we don’t get too many trick-or-treaters.  I love the texture of these little disks, and the fact that the orange ones remind me of baby aspirin.

    3.  Hmm, last one’s a toughie (so many choices!).  I have to say Ferraro Rocher candies.  They’re kind of generic, but after I eat one, I always want another.  Plus, it’s fun to eat them in layers.

  103. My favorite candies in no particular order are:

    1. Florida’s Naturals anything
    2. Maltballs (real chocolate)
    3. See’s Butterscotch Squares

I’m looking forward to the chewy Atomic Fireballs because I love all things cinnamon.

  104. 1. Cadbury Mini Eggs
    2. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
    3. Many flavors of Pocky

It would be nice if Glico has a Pocky mixed flavors pack. Also, I am up for any new versions of M&Ms; and Twix.

  105. 1.  Ritter Sport - Dark Chocolate with Hazelnuts because I cannot resist whole filberts!

    2. Riesen - More Dark Chocolate with Caramel that doesn’t stick in your teeth!

    3.  See’s Scotchmallow - Because my boyfriend would pick out all the scotchmallows from the 5 lb box in his office breakroom and save them for me!

Comment by Quik on 9/22/07 at 3:34 pm #
  106. 3 Favorite Candies:
    1. M&Ms; - any flavor, any kind.  Not the most sophisticated in candy, but in my mind, the perfect one.
    2. Sees’s Scotchmallow.
    3. Scharffenberger Nibby Bar.

Most looking forward to (I also don’t know if you mean in general or just from the ones in your candy basket??)  I’m intrigued by a chocolate mix Skittles.  But I try every dark chocolate I can get my hands on, as well as nougats.  YUM!

Comment by Julie Strauss on 9/22/07 at 3:40 pm #
  107. 1. Ghirardelli squares.
    2. M&Ms; (not the greatest chocolate every, but it has a special place in my childhood)
    3. Lindt - but the true european varieties - not the stuff made for the US.

I am looking forward to more salty/chocolate combination products.  They fill the PMS requirements perfectly.

  108. My all time favorite candy is Pez, followed closely by Atomic Fireballs and B-B-Bats, all candy from my childhood.  My adult favorites are Lindt white chocolate truffles, almond butter crunch, and jelly bellies.
I am looking forward to trying the chewy atomic fireballs.  Trying to figure out how they’re different from a cinnamon jelly belly!

  110. Mmm… I have to say, I love blue gummi sharks (but heck if I can ever find them except in the cheap-o gas station brand), Twizzlers (original, NOT pull-n-peel), and Andes mints!  Yum yum yum!

Those Chewy Lemonheads sound A-mazing.  I always bite mine anyway, so they might as well be chewy!!

Comment by Dishie on 9/22/07 at 4:34 pm #
  111. My three faves (which is really harder than I thought to narrow down) are Vanilla Tootsie Rolls, Mike and Ikes, and Midnight Milky Ways. I have to give an honorable mention to plain M&Ms; and Twizzler Cherry Nibs for nostalgia.

They’re making Chocolate Skittles!! I want!

Comment by Angelcake on 9/22/07 at 4:34 pm #
  112. 1. Lemonheads - I could not get enough of them growing up!
    2. Sour Skittles - they are one of the few sour candies that can make me pucker up.
    3. CHOCOLATE.  I’m not picky about that one.

I’m most looking forward to the chewy lemonheads.  I’ve loved the original for so long, I’d like to see what the new version is like.

Comment by christine on 9/22/07 at 4:35 pm #
  113. ooh, I think I’ll have to go with the first 3 that come to mind or I’ll have too hard a time deciding!

    1. Gummi Bears/gummi worms.  Ok, I guess I’m already cheating, but same idea, right??

    2.  Sour Patch Kids.  They tear up my mouth and give me a stomachache when I eat too many, but I love ‘em all the same.

    3.  Gail Ambrosius chocolates—she’s a Madison, WI chocolatier.  I highly recommend her.

The Chewy Lemonheads sound exciting!  If only they’d sell the pink grapefruit Mentos here…

    Comment by R on 9/22/07 at 4:52 pm #
  114. my favorite candies of the here and now:

1.) good & plenty - do the pink taste different than the white? Who knows but licorice is good!

    2.) haribo gummi bears/peach gummi penguins (it’s a tie)

3.) rocky mountain chocolate factory dark chocolate with coconut center chocolates. Dark chocolate and coconut are always a tasty combination.

Anything new is exciting - I LOVE Mike and Ikes so that sounds like fun!

Comment by Alli on 9/22/07 at 5:05 pm #
  115. Wow, how to pick only 3 candies as my ultimate favorite!  Well certainly anything reeses’ (pb cups and pieces) also twizzler’s pull and peel, and sour patch kids(the watermelon kind!)  I do love candy for the holidays… candy corn pumpkins and cadbury cream eggs!!!

As for new options, the junior mints looks very appealing.  I love minty chocolate, so I’m excited about these!

Comment by Ash on 9/22/07 at 5:08 pm #
  116. 1.  Dark chocolate and orange in just about any form.  I think I’ve tried them all.

    2.  Baby Ruth bars.  They’re just a classic.

    3.  Cinnamon Red Hots.  I love the spicy taste and it’s great when I’m craving something sweet.

I like the idea of the Chewy Lemonheads, but I’m excited to try just about anything new.

Comment by Jules on 9/22/07 at 5:19 pm #
  117. Three favorite candies of all time? That’s difficult!

    1. The classic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. For me, this is the ultimate in comfort food (in a cup).

    2. A toss-up for pretty much any chocolate bar filled with a hazelnut creme. The best I’ve had is a Finnish bar called Geisha, but seeing as I can’t find it in the US, any of the Kinders with hazelnut creme, the Lindt bar with hazelnut creme, or any chocolate bar dipped in Nutella will do.

    3. Heath/Skor

Products I’m looking forward to: Well, I’m praying that I’ll be able to find the chocolate bar with the pop rocks when it’s released! A year ago I tried Cadbury’s Crunchie Blast, which had popping candy. I’m willing to try anything that pops! I’ve also been looking for the promised aerated chocolate bars in the U.S.! My local shops don’t seem to be very adventurous with stocking newer candies. Not that I only like chocolate! I have to say I’m pretty curious about the Chewy Atomic Fireballs, too. Oh, and you saved me a couple of bucks with your Hershey’s Candy Corn Kisses review. They’re pure art, but based on your description, I wouldn’t have liked them, either! Thanks for that!!

  118. #1 - Cadbury Creme Eggs.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
    #2 - Gardner’s Candies Peanut Butter Meltaways - a Central Pennsylvania treat.
    #3 - Candy Corn - that’s right, I said it.

Since I especially love holiday themed candy, I’m very excited for Candy Cane Tootsie Pops.

    Man I love candy.

  119. 1. Kuroame - I was introduced to these by one of your posts, and happened to see them in the local Japanese supermarket the next day. Needless to say, I’ve been in love with them, ever since.
    2. Junior Mints - The chocolate mint combination is always a hit with me.
    3. Haribo Gummies - These were always my favorite candy as a little kid, and I’m just hooked on them.

Of course, I’m looking forward to trying out the new Junior Mints, but I’m a bit curious about the chocolate Skittles as well. I’d love to try the new Lemonheads too, since that’d been another one of my favorites.

  120. 1. Canada Mints (Wintergreen) - Great memories of visiting great grandma in Nashua, NH and crossing the street to go to the general store for Canada Mints and other goodies!
    2. Life Savers (Pep-O-Mint, Wint-O-Green or Spear-O-Mint)

  123. My favorite three candies..oh so hard to choose…

    1.  Reese PB Cups.  PB + Chocolate = yummy classic.  Although so many of the variants are good, I keep coming back to this classic.

    2.  Candy Pumpkins.  I so love candy pumpkins and candy corn, but I must admit I love the pumpkins a bit more.  They are my favorite halloween candy.

    3.  Starburst.  I always seem to have some starburst somewhere in the house or in my car.  I always pick out and eat the strawberry and lemon ones first though.

I am most looking forward to new sugar free candies, because as I get older it has gotten important to pay closer attention to ‘healthier’ candy.  I also really liked the new Reese nougat PB bar, so I am eager for some new takes on using PB in candies.

  130. Hmm, top three candies…

    1. The Heath bar - I don’t know why they even bother producing Skor bars anymore, the Heath toffee is superior, with its flaky goodness.

    2. The Asian grape Mentos - They remind me of this gum I used to chew that my mom would buy at the Asian grocery stores.

    3. The Hershey Symphony bar with almonds and toffee - Can you tell I love toffee?  It’s too sweet for me now, and I wish they would make a dark chocolate version, but I associate this with movie nights with my best friends during high school.

Runners up: Sizzling Cinnamon Jelly Bellies, Grapefruit and Pineapple Mentos (the pineapple is amaaaazing), Kit Kats, Werther’s Original Hard Caramels, ginger candies, chocolate-covered pretzels, and candy corn.

I’m totally looking forward to the Pop Rocks chocolate, the chewy Lemonheads, and pretty much everything else featuring chocolate, cinnamon, and/or caramel.  Yum yum.

  131. 1. Overload!!!! God it had the best of everything
    2. Reese’s Cup
    3. Watermelon Sour Patch Kids

I am looking forward to everything but mostly two things. One, the chewy lemonheads. Sound intresting and I wanted to know if the flavor is still the same while you chew through it or does it lose it flavor quickly. Second, the chocolate mix Skittles. These just sound totally different from what they’ve had out there before. I love to try new things.

    1) Almond M&Ms;.  My mom used to put them in my Easter Basket (along with a toothbrush/paste) and now they are just reminders of a delicious sweet day.
    2) Scharffen Berger dark chocolate
    3) Assorted Sour Patch Fruits OR salted caramels

  134. 1.) Skor. I’m not sure what it is but somehow, skor bars are so much better than heath bars! I wish they actually made a toffee-only version because I usually just suck off or peel the chocolate away with my teeth just to get to the delicious toffee~

2.) Chick-O-Stick, peanut butter is only good when it’s crunchy! (the little white-and-brown striped “logs” are good too—I think they’re both Atkinson’s candies..?)

3.) My new favorite, Take 5, which I tried as a result of reading this blog. sweet + salty = crazy delicious!

As for things you mentioned both in the prize pack and off-hand that you saw at the show, I most look forward to grapefruit mentos if they are anything like my experience with Japanese grapefruit-flavored candies—such a refreshing taste! Chewy atomic fireballs sound awesome because I love cinnamon candy, and I’m always crunching down on the original fireballs—oww, my teeth! Also, I gotta try a pop rocks chocolate bar at least once…
(BTW, the green tea kisses were just on display right? No plans to distribute here? I love matcha flavor ;__;)

Comment by Mitsu on 9/22/07 at 7:53 pm #
  135. 1. M&Ms; - I kind of have to say these because I eat them almost every day

    2. Heath bar - or chocolate covered crunchy toffee in general

    3. Lindt truffles - especially the white, orange, and peanut butter

I’m looking forward to lots of things that wouldn’t have crossed my mind had I not read this blog - keeping my eyes open for Ver-Mints and still hoping to find pink grapefruit Mentos. From your Candy Expo reports the things that sound most interesting are the Hall’s ginger lozenges and Brach’s soda poppers.

Comment by Kelly on 9/22/07 at 7:54 pm #
  136. 1. Juicy Pear Jelly Belly Beans - This is my all time favorite candy, i never grow tired of the refreshing burst of fresh pear that comes with biting into one. They remind me of all the trips i took the factory on school tours when i lived in San Fransisco.

    2. Mike & Ikes - The classic flavor mix is the best but the other varieties are sure to bring a smile to my face everytime. I always get a box in y christmas stocking.

    3. Snickers Crunchers - The snickers cruncher bars are by far my favorite chocolate confection. They are the perfect mix of cruncy and caramely goodness. My friends and I used to go and grab some for a treats when were through studying with finals.

Things im looking forward to… well i always look forward to movie tie-ins in candy. But in aprticular im really looking forward to the new Pomegrante Jelly Belly and the Pop Rocks candy bar ive been hearing rumbles about.

  137. I have so many favorite candies. Top 3 are probably Heath bar, Niederegger marzipan with dark chocolate & Katjes Saure Johannisbeeren gummis.

I’m totally excited for Chewy Atomic Fireballs. I’m curious how they tase in relation to Hot Tamales. I’m also curious about the new Mike N Ikes. I like Mike N Ikes, but for some reason I don’t think I’ll like the new one. Guess I’ll have to try it.

    2. Butterfinger - yes, I know it’s not real peanut butter, but for some reason I still love it.

  140. Oooh, I’d pick:

    Chick-O-Stick

Chocolate Necco Wafers, I don’t know if it’s partly due to barely being able to find them, or that it’s a non-melting chocolate snack.

Areo Bars- I had a friend suprise me with 6 HUGE bars from a trip to England. I can’t tell you how long I hoarded those bad boys for….

    I’m looking forward to:

    Chocolate Mix Skittles

Welch?s Fruit ?n Yogurt Snacks for my two little ones

But I’m easy to pleae candy-wise, so I’ll try anything once. (And my little ones are happy to help! wink )

  141. My most favorite candies would have to be Peeps from the Just Born company and Hershey?s Kisses and Reese?s Peanut Butter Cups.  Out of all the new candies at the All Candy Expo that I know about, I am most looking forward to being able to buy the new flower shaped Peeps (new shapes are so exciting =D).  Out of the new candies Cybele listed I would most like to try Apple Sour! I love granny smith apples!

I’m mostly looking forward to broading my horizon, though the mike and ikes and such look intresting.  Yah, I know that I’m not exactly wild on the candy.  But what can you do?

    2.  Atomic Fireballs - A throwback from my childhood that I just can’t let go.

    3.  Marzipan - I don’t have a particular brand favorite and I’ve even made it myself with good success.

I’ve been intrigued by all of the new products you have reported on.  Makes me wish I would just walk around and see it all!

  146. 1. Necco Conversation Hearts. I loved these since I was a kid. Valentine’s Day, romance, spring is coming, all wrapped up in a sugary treat. I will stockpile these when they come out so I have a box a week for a year. Well, that is the goal anyway. They are often gone by September. Sigh… A true obsession.

    2. Josh Early peanut butter cups. This is a local candy store in Bethlehem Pa. that makes candy on the premises. Once you buy these peanut butter cups it is hard to settle for any other kind. But I am always wiling to audition another contender.

3.Bubble Chocolate. I miss Nestle Choco’lite from the 70’s. When I was in Londom I was thilled to discover Cadbury Bubbly and Nestle Aero. I am hoping that a candy company brings this kind of chocolate to the United States.  Different kinds of candy is one of the coolest souveniers you can bring back from a trip. Variety is what makes life so interesting.

I love Candy Blog. It is something I look foward to reading everyday. I always think the best ideas come from the simplest of concepts. Feature a product that most people love like candy, throw in a good writer, catchy photos and design, and you hsve brilliance.  Travel the world through candy. Thanks Cybele.

  147. My three favourite candies:

    1. Kahlua Truffles from Purdys Chocolates (Dark chocolate truffle filled with kahlua!  Purdys makes excellent chocolates: http://www.purdys.com)

    2. Reese?s Big Cup with Nuts

    3. Pistachio Ferrara Nougats (I’m Italian and love nougat/torrone!)

What I’m most looking forward too.  Well, since I live in Canada, I cannot wait until we finally get the Elvis Reese?s Peanut Butter and Banana Cup.  I have been looking everywhere for these!  I’m also looking forward to the Dark Chocolate Reeses Peanut Butter Cups which I heard was at the Candy Expo this year.  I’m also looking forward to the Reeses Whips, Ghillardi’s Dark Chocolate with Raspberry Filling and the Ritter Sport Schockowurfel (mmmm, tiramisu, Cappuccino & Amarettini, creme Coco- YUMMY!).

  148. 3 favs:
    Cherry Ripe (Australian)
    Marathon Bar (please bring back)
Ritter Sport Dark Chocolate with Hazelnut

    Looking forward to trying:
Much of the nougat you’ve been talking about. It’s a candy category I’ve rarely considered but based on your coverage, I’m looking forward to exploring.

Dark Chocolate Reese?s Peanut Butter Cup, simply because I prefer dark chocolate and I’m a fan of the trend for mass producers to be using dark instead of milk because Americans need to know that dark chocolate isn’t bad.

Kenny?s Licorice - anything Australian style is worth a try in my bood.

Just curious if the Australian brand Darrell Leah had a presence at Candy Expo.  They make the best favored licorice, you can find it here at TJ’s and Cost Plus, but it’s so much better when you get it fresh in Oz.  I always thought they’d do a great business if they came here, because their other items (non-licorice) are fantasic too.

    Thanks for your great coverage.

  155. My favorite candies are sweet tarts, the big soft kind that is only sold on the west coast (sigh)- #2 is the Look bar * I have almost strangled myself - but it is one yummy bar. Bring on those new Junior mints!

  156. Favorites:

1 - Gummy grapefruit slices - sometimes my grandmother brings these with her when she comes to visit.  She picks them up in the Amish country store near her house in Ohio.  We nibble on them to try to make them last.

2 - Atomic fireballs - my mom kept these in the car to keep herself awake on long drives.  She’s share with us kids.

3 - Kit Kats - these were always my favorite on Haloween.  Yum!

I’m most looking forward to the Bean Boozled candies from Jelly Belly.  This summer my family celebrated my grandfather’s 80th birthday with a bag of Bertie Bott’s Beans and a game of miniature golf.  We divided into groups of four, and whomever lost each hole had to reach blindly into the bag, pull out a bean and eat it.  Everyone, young and old, participated and we had a lot of laughs, especially when someone ran away to remove an offending bean.  Now we’ll have new flavors to “try”.

  157. 3 favorite candies of all time:
    1. Hershey Bar - milk chocolate - a classic!
    2. Peppermint Pattie
    3. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup

    Looking forward to trying:
    1. Chocolate Mix Skittles
    2. Junior Mints Deluxe
    3. anything new and chocolate—I’m a confirmed chocoholic (and an avid reader of this site!)

  158. 3 Favorite Candies:

    1. Twix - The balance between the cookie, chocolate and caramel has yet to be matched by any candy I have ever tasted.

    2. Reese’s PB Cups - Really the only peanut butter candy I enjoy. The consistency of the peanut butter is what I really enjoy. A little grainy, but I like that kind of texture. Add the tastiness of the chocolate, and you have a winner.

    3. Starburst (Regular) - A favorite of mine since I was a kid. The perfect balance between sweetness and just a tad of tartness. Love ‘em

    Looking Foward To:

    1. Really looking foward to the very cherry M&Ms;. Loved the rassberry variety they released earlier, so I am hoping this is just as good.

    2. Twix java - I Love Twix. I love coffee flavor. This sounds like a can’t miss

  159. My 3 favorite candies ...

    1. Lindt Mint Truffles
I’m a sucker for anything that combines chocolate and mint.  These are fantastic. I love putting these in the fridge. The center gets hard and lasts longer when you eat it.

    2.  Skor
This is probably one of the best toffee bars out there by a huge company.  I love the crisp feel of that toffee with the chocolate.

    3.  Candy Cigarettes/Sticks
The white ones with the red color on the end. I know it’s just sugar but I am addicted to these things.

Comment by Jennifer Smith on 9/23/07 at 7:53 am #
  160. Cadbury creme eggs-ahhh.

    Skor-butteriest toffee ever

Chunky bars-with the raisins and nuts, chewy and perfect.

Looking forward to anything chocolate or creamy caramel-y

  161. Chocolate Oranges (mmmmm yum)
    Haribo mini gummi bears
Lindt chocolate Orange truffles (the soft ones dipped in cocoa)

Looking forward to Deluxe Junior mints and chocolate mix skittles (can you tell I’m a chocoholic?) smile

Comment by Caroline on 9/23/07 at 8:17 am #
  162. MY favorites:

    1. The large Laffy Taffies.  These used to be called “Tangy Taffy” when I was younger and taste WAAAY better than those tepid small laffy taffies!  They are a bit hard to find though.  Mostly gas stations.

    2. Sunkist fruit gems!!

    3. Baskin Robbins sour hard candies

I hope Ferrara pan does the Grapefruit heads!  Have you followed up on that?  I think a ‘mixed-berry or ‘blue raspberry’ HEAD would be good too!

Comment by Dan on 9/23/07 at 8:37 am #
  163. 1. Ferrara Pan jawbreakers. What can I say? I’m just a kid at heart.
    2. Necco wafers. Still refusing to be an adult. When we were growing up, we bought whatever would last the longest with our hard-won candy money. More pieces!
    3. Sugar Babies. Just Because.

    What a fun website!

  164. My three favourite candies are:

    1. Brachs’ candy corn - I know not many people like these but I think only this brand is good.

    2. Tootsie pops - They have been my favourite since I was young.

    3. Pez - Another favourite from my childhood.

    Things I’m looking forward too:

the chocolate mix skittles and anything else that looks and sounds good. =)

Comment by Divalicious on 9/23/07 at 9:04 am #
  165. 1. Cadbury eggs. Minis are my ab fave.
    2. Hot Tamales. Real cinnamon lover here!
    3. Coconut Buddies (I can no longer find these) I settle for Almond Joys or See’s Coconut Truffle

I’d love to try the atomic fire balls since I do love cinnamon. But the licorice descriptions always make me salivate the most.

Great reading here! Love your blog.

Comment by Suzie on 9/23/07 at 9:05 am #
  166. 1. Watermelon Baby Bottle Pops - Dunno!  I just crave them almost everytime I’m in the store, and since they’re only $.69, I usally end up with 2.  Then I drive everyone crazy with the shaking noise! :D

    2. Strawberry Ichigo - My favorite candy when I was in Japan. I think they must’ve stopped making them because of me, because everytime I went, I’d buy 10 or more (they were only about $.10 each).

    3. Ritter Marzipan - Dunno this one either. I only get it once in a while, so it’s a nice, nutty, almost chalky treat for me.  It’s not nearly as rich as Ferrera Rocher, but it’s still smooth and creamy.

As for what I’m looking forward to…I suppose just more limited edition treats :D No dark chocolate, though.  Not a taste for me.

Comment by Tindy on 9/23/07 at 9:08 am #
  167. This is really hard! I’m sure I’ll think of a different top three as soon as I post.

    1. Candy corn (and their fellow mellowcreme pumpkins. Just ate some, in fact!) I only eat them in the fall though. Even a big fan like myself can only take so much candy corn.

    2. Sour gummy anything, but especially the little cherry ones that seem to only come in bulk.

    3. I think this is a tie between Sweet Tarts and Tootsie Rolls. Very different candies, but two old favorites.

There is a lot that I’m looking forward to. I like the idea of chewy Lemonheads, since I’m more of a chewer than a sucker anyway. I love the idea of green tea Kisses, and I’m really sad they won’t be sold here!

Comment by Emily on 9/23/07 at 9:19 am #
  168. My all time favorite candies were/are Bonomo Turkish Taffy, Danish red licorice rolls, and just about any penny candy. I’m looking forward to trying anything “limited edition” and the green tea kisses!

Comment by Bonney on 9/23/07 at 9:24 am #
  169. - Meiji Meltyblend Cacao: little bit sized chocolate that ain’t too sweet… love em X3
    - Jelly Belly: ummm coconut… any flavour in an orange colour (orange, tangerine, cantaloupe…)... lemon…
    - Truffles: I usually make these myself… but the nice dark chocolate kind from the local store’s great ~

I’m really interested in those Jelly Boozled, makes for a fun party game XD

Comment by Floria on 9/23/07 at 9:27 am #
  170. Three favorites:

Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs- the peanut butter cups you get for Easter or Christmas, the Valentine’s day one aren’t as good.

Godiva truffles - the champagne, the key lime, the grand mariner.

Mike and Ike’s - we got them as children a lot, and the outside is tangy and a nice candy shell, and the inside is nice and chewy.

As for what I would be looking forward too -

Chocolate Mix Skittles - Despite my best judgement, I tried the mint one and like them - and I loved the Carnival ones, so I would hope these are as good.

Mike and Ike Lemonade Stand Mix - Does it have Strawberry Lemonade?  Or Cherry Lemonade?  Or Cherry Limeade?  Mmmm.

Junior Mints Deluxe - dark chocolate and mint, what could go wrong?

Chewy Lemonheads - I love the crisp outer shell of a lemonhead, but hate the wax inside.  These sound very good.

And I aways love surprises.  I love fruit candy and chocolate.

    2. Star Bar (see above)

    3. Cadbury Mini Eggs/ Mento Pamplemousse

I really appreciate all the nougat reviews as I’ve become a fanatic for the stuff. Mmm.

  174. Favorite Candies:

2-Sugar Babies (the original ones are awesome, plus the new caramel apple ones are pretty swell, too)

3-Peeps (especially the vanilla flavored hearts around Valentine’s Day)

Anything fruity/chewy is what I am looking forward to.  Yum…candy!

    Thanks!

  175. Favorite Candy?

    1. Nerds.  I love ‘em.  Only bad thing is that I tend to spill them all over my apartment…

    2. Cadbury’s Creme Eggs.  I stock up during Easter time… usually buy enough to last me for a few months.

    3. Tootsie Pops.  A sucker and a tootsie roll in one?  You betcha!!!

I love trying new things, so I am looking forward to everything!  Love your site, thanks for the chance of winning!!

  176. 3 favorite candies….only 3? smile

    1. M&M Mazing bars (peanut butter): Seriously one of the saddest days of my life when they decided to discontinue this bar!

    2. 3 Musketeers: Frozen is the best way to eat them

    4. Peanut butter M&Ms;: possibly the most perfect candy ever, even better when frozen.

I love reading your reviews, and the giving away candy idea is a great idea to generate comments!

  177. 1. Rowntree Fruit Pastilles (Blackcurrant & Strawberry)

    1. Cadbury’s Robin eggs
    2. Airheads
    3. Skor bar

I am super duper excited about the M&Ms; mint chocolate crisp. I loved loved loved the crispy M&Ms; and miss them dearly.  Hopefully these will be a good combination!

What I’m looking forward to (thanks to your reviews!):

    1) Reeses Whips

  181. ahhhhh…candy

    1.  Cadbury Cream Eggs.  I buy them in bulk at Easter and then freeze them and enjoy ALL year!!

    2.  Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

    3.  Atomic Fireballs.  And I meant to comment before, if you buy them from the Ferara Pan (sp) website then you can get the original big size. Yum. Just order them bulk.

I’m jealous of the people in Japan because I HAVE to try that Green Tea Hershey’s Kiss!  Um, also looking forward to the chocolate Skittles and of course, the Chewy Atomic Fireballs.  I’m IN!

Comment by Rachel on 9/23/07 at 12:14 pm #
  182. 1.  See’s Chocolate Covered Marshmallows (Unfortunately they’re only available around Halloween, Christmas and Easter, which makes them even more desirable!)
    2.  Nut Goodies
    3.  Kissables

I’m really looking forward to the cherry and mint crisp M&Ms;, Reese’s Whipps and the new Ghirardelli bars.

  183. Old favorites:  I loved the Marathon Bar, not because of the taste as much as for the memories of eating one outside on a snowy day and being shocked that it splintered into shards when I bit it!
The 7-Up Bar was what I wanted mom to buy me at the checkout stand after we went grocery shopping.
And Lik-em Aid was a wonderful messy treat.

I’m really looking forward to the weather cooling down enough that I can order one of the Vosges bacon bars, and some of their caramels.  Caramel is wooooonderful…

    Thanks for the great blog!

  186. 1. Reeses peanut butter eggs (the ones in the little yellow packages that hit the shelves right before the Easter holidays—they’re amazing.)
    2. Malted milk balls are absolutely amazing.  Hands-down, the best movie candy ever!
    3. Truffles by Sweet Shop USA, they’re wonderful.

I am looking forward to the deluxe junior mints!  I wonder if they’ll melt in the box like regular junior mints…

Comment by Kelli on 9/23/07 at 12:58 pm #
  187. 1. twizzlers. As a kid I used to bite the ends off and use them as a straw to drink ginger ale.

    2. red licorice wheels. I like being able to play with my food before I eat it.

    3. Tire Tread, both red and black. I like peeling them apart before I eat them!

If I won the box, I’d look forward to taking any cherry flavored candies off your hands - I know you’re not crazy about cherry anyway!

  189. 1. Lemonheads

    2. Sour punch straws

    3. Sour Patch kids

As you can tell, I’ve got the taste buds of a third-grader. Lemonheads (and all of the other flavors in the line—although is it just me or are grapeheads not as good as Alexander the Grapes were?) are my all-time favorite. Can’t wait to try the chewy lemonheads.

  191. Oooh. . . I’m a chocolate mint sucker, but my tastes occasionally move beyond that realm.

    1. Chick-o-stix: I loved this candy so, so much that it was physically painful for me when I found out I was allergic to peanut butter.

    2. Charleston Chew: There’s just something about the texture of the “chew” that I love.

    3. Autumn mix from Brachs—I love the mellocreme pumpkins the most, but I can’t eat a whole bag—the candy corn cuts them, somehow. I need some!

I’m looking forward to the mint/crisp M&Ms;, of course, and I WAS jonesing for the candy corn kisses. . . but reading the review has given me some reservations. I’ll probably try them anyway, because I’m a masochist (and have a serious candy corn problem!)

    My favourite candies?
    #1 Nougat(with almonds)
#2 any High Chew(especially the orange, lemon, or grape(or is it blueberry)
#3 Any German chocolate combo( like and including Mozarts) that include marzipan and some liquor.
    I am looking forward to..
    The Chewy lemon heads(love lemon)
    Chocolate skittles
finally, the Junior mints deluxe(love chocolate and mint..)

  193. It’s funny to think how much my palate has changed since I was a kid.  Right now I’m all about the dark chocolate:

    1. Endangered Species Dark Chocolate bars

    2. Milky Way Midnight

    3. And Payday is pretty good

I used to like much sweeter candy—but now I’m looking forward to more dark chocolate flavors.

I would love to see Reeses Cups in dark chocolate, with different nut butters—imagine a dark chocolate cashew or almond butter cup!

I’d also love to see a return to the original 3-flavor mini-bars of Musketeers—in England they have Flyte which is similar and comes in 2 bars. The evolution of the Musketeers bar is a weird piece of candy history…

    Comment by HeartofGlass21 on 9/23/07 at 1:55 pm #
  194. I’m an admitted chocoholic, so most of my favorites are of that variety, but sour candy and gummies are a secret vice as well.

    My favorites are probably:

1)Godiva Coconut Pyramids - They taste like happy!

    2) Harbio Gummy Peaches - I’ve actually used these as a meal replacement.  Maybe they aren’t so good for you, but really…who cares when they are that good?

    3)Sour Jolly Ranchers!

I always look forward to anything new from the Dove chocolate line as well as the Target chocolate line (the name escapes me for the moment), but I suppose I’m mostly looking forward to the Vosges Chocolate and Bacon bar!  It sounds hideous and delicious all at the same time!

Comment by Kelly Pratt on 9/23/07 at 2:06 pm #
  195. #1 - Dutch licorice, hands down. They don’t have this anymore, but it’s called “honingdroop,” and it’s a honey-licorice chew that is just incredible.

#2 - Sees nut and chocolate candies. Completely delishous.

    #3 - Haribo jelly beans.

Comment by Nellie on 9/23/07 at 2:26 pm #
  196. 1) Reese’s Fast Break

    2) Jujufruit (if only they were all red)

    3) Coffee Crisp

I’m looking forward to seeing more about salted caramels—I still can’t find them readily around here, but I love the flavor!
